Actually, I was told that until not long ago Norway was one of the European states with the strongest ties between church and state, to the point that the king was the head of the church, like in England. If you want to find a state that has a serious separation from the church I think in Europe it would be France. Which sound and awful lot like the modern English "Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday". TL:DR - Yes, he's certainly well read and what he's saying has much more merit than saying Christianity is absolutely unique and original. Because, in fact, it is not. Days of the week and holidays like Christmas either have direct Pagan origin or are situated very close to Pagan holidays on purpose.
