I asked Dev Hynes from Blood Orange to direct a video for Uneventful Days. I've admired the originality and personal style of the clips that he’s made for himself and for others. I feel lucky to now share the piece he created with friends and collaborators... ‘Uneventful days, uneventful nights. Living in the dark waiting for the light. Caught up in these never ending battle lines. Everything has changed, nothing here feels right.’ Thank you Tessa Thompson, Evan Rachel Wood, Alia Shawkat and Dev Hynes.
Really like the beginning dreaminess of the music, your vocals, and the imagery. Love is what stops the "uneventful days, uneventful nights" and makes every moment more meaningful. The video is a perfect compliment to your music, Beck, and it rocks! Thank you for the aural pleasure only you bring to the world.
The same for me. Just yesterday I "rediscovered" Qua onda Guero & Girl - and listened to them on repeat all day. - On another note - if the new album is like this I am guessing he is aiming for another Grammy.
I'd be honored if some Beck/90s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of HIGH & DRY by Radiohead and LONG DECEMBER by the Counting Crows on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the most iconic 90s bands. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace out.
Right?! And it's always something just utterly cool but him. My friend who had never heard of him thought he was making a "comeback" and I delightfully informed her that Beck has always been around making music on his own terms and it's wonderful.
The genius of this song is that it touches on a nebulous sense of being lost, feeling uneasy, confused, and nagging doubts about a life without meaning. Those feelings are universal to everyone, at every age.
It also works in sequence with some tracks from Morning Phase, following the same key of G, it's interesting he can make quiet songs and upbeat songs in the same signature, would make for an interesting mix.
Beck, if you ever read this you need to know how much I appreciate everything you have created. Thank you for taking music to new places and allow me to go with you. Genius
Beck: Did you have a premonition about this situation we are in now? Because this song describes what just happened to us. We went from "uneventful days" to "never ending days" where we are living in the dark, waiting for the light. Honestly. When I heard this song, I thought "Wow. THIS has got to be a soundtrack to a movie. I wonder what the movie will be about?" Seriously love this song. Has a lot of meaning right now.
While it could be..my thinking is that the vid..Beck made then..was and is the premonition..and the movie all wrapped as one..but you would have to ask him..it's his creation and expression of "his" art
This captures the void I felt when my mom passed away a year and a half ago. I think all of us mourn for a world we knew, the people we had in our lives. A beautiful song.
I've been a huge fan of Beck ever since I saw him at Lollapalooza in 1995 (with Pavement, Cypress Hill, Hole and Sonic Youth) and he never lets me down. The new record is a dreamscape masterpiece...thank you Beck for never repeating yourself and never standing still...you're my favourite living artist and I can't wait for more!
Duuuuude that was the first time I saw him too! At the The Gorge in Eastern Washington. What a great time to go see those festivals. I love so many bands that day but I specifically went to go see Beck. I don't think I had ever anticipated a show so much in my life. I then proceeded to see him about 4 more times in the next couple of years. What a legend.
Beck you are a musical genius!! Everything so vital and fresh sounding!! You still have it after the heady days of the 1990s and I'm digging yr more electronic sounding music. Thank you.

Howdy, Beck. I was "The Metal Detector" during the Sexy Death Soda set in Oakland on August 27, 1997. We went to breakfast with Steve Hanft the next morning in San Francisco and laughed about the show.
I caught myself noticing the lyrics of this while at work listening to their radio playlist inside Fry's store and every since then I've been a fan! Had no idea of this artist but after doing some researching thank God for him! 💯😌✌

I live in Italy we´re under a lockdown here. Can´t do much. Everything´s closed. Uneventful Days. Never-ending days, never-ending nights. Thanks for all the great music, Beck. It makes "living in the dark waiting for the light" somewhat feel easier.
If I could hang out with one musician for a day it would probably be Beck. Such a talented musician. I think the creative versatility is what I admire most about his songwriting.
I caught on to this song not long after it was released, and I've been listening ever since. There's something deeply nostalgic about it that I can't quite place, and it was nostalgic from the very first time I heard it. Odd, but wonderful. This was a perfect song during the lockdown... very wistful without feeling hopeless.
This song hits some serious emotions...like most of Beck's songs. My wife left me after 18 years and this song really messed me up. Beck has always been under appreciated for his ability to express so much emotion through his music.
I remember when I heard this song for the first time, it was in 2019 on my sister's birthday and after school we went to a restaurant to celebrate and that's where I heard it.I remember also listening to "lights on" by Harry Styles, "Graveyard" by Halsey, "Hymn for the Weekend" by Coldplay, and another song whose name I don't remember. After 5 years it still gives me that feeling of nostalgia, I would like to go back to that time, that day precisely to relive it again.(An important but unnecessary fact, that day I remember drinking a raspberry tea from a brand called "Snapple", and during that time I read a book, "The Journey of the Hummingbirds" by Sue Zurita in my first year of high school)
For TH-cam viewers, a 95% approval rating is phenomenally rare, but I still feel genuine pity for those few who can't see/hear the soulful beauty of this masterful performance. A haunting tune, with real-life lyrics that somehow cross rock/soul/shoegaze in a winning way I've never heard the likes of. Well done, Beck, this is everything you hoped for. Art/performance that gives you the feels.

Beck seems to have access to an endless font of great songs.
Beck is a cia operative making great music for the masses. Alex Jones told me so it must be true
Not difficult to write a good song when one has any instrument and backing at ones Becken call.

Lyrics
Uneventful days, uneventful nights
Living in the dark, waiting for the light
Caught up in these neverending battlelines
Everything has changed and nothing, it feels right
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know it's gone
And oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa
I know, I know it's gone (ooh yeah)
Neverending days, neverending nights
Everything I say, I know I can't get right
It means infinitely more to me than life
You might know my name, you don't know my mind
I don't even know what's wrong
(Days without you)
Ever since you've been gone
Only ten minutes ago
(Leave me cold and alone)
I don't even know now
[?]
(Found my way without you, no)
I don't know where you belong
I don't wanna let you
(No, no, no, gonna leave me alone)
I don't wanna let you, know
Uneventful days, uneventful nights
Living in the dark, waiting for the light
Nothing you could say could make it come to life
I don't have a way to make you change your mind
I know, I know, I know, I know
I know, I know it's gone
And oh, whoa-oh, whoa-oh, whoa
I know, I know it's gone, yeah
Neverending days, neverending nights
And time is moving slow, I don't even mind
It means infinitely more to me than life
Got nowhere to go, got nowhere to fly (days)
(Oh) Haven't said a word now
(Oh) [?]
(Ah) Had another round of drink now
(Uh) Nothing but a lowdown letdown
(Ooh) You better not get down, left out
(Ah) [?]
(Uh) Been in and out of love all night
Neverending days, neverending nights
Everything I do, you know I don't do right (days)
I've been waiting around all night
Your, your, your (days) yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah (days)
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah (days)
