I didn't know this song, but I have listened to it at least 5 times. It's a great cover, thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Nice. I have this piece though I can't play it anywhere this well.
How long did it take you to memorize this piece? Any tips tricks to how you memorize? I can't seem to play these things more than twice a day and can't make a lot of progress memorizing.

Thanks, Theo! It probably took me just a few weeks to memorize the piece; there's a lot of repetition, and that helps. I don't have any (good) tips to help you; my form of memorization is essentially sheer muscle memory, which is not at all reliable and I don't recommend it, ha! But if I play a piece often enough, I usually find myself memorizing it, as long as it is not overly long. And once memorized, as long as I play it, oh, at least once a week or so, I can usually keep it memorized.

Thx. That makes sense. I'm curious as you seem to pull it off fairly quickly and importantly repeatably, while I struggle with even single page pieces.
So how many times a day do you play during memorization? Do you play/memorize entire piece or a few measures/phrase at a time? I have been told the best memorization is a combination of muscle memory and pattern memorization. You don't actually memorize the notes. The brain takes care of the rest.
Apologies if I'm asking too many questions. Have a great day :)

@@theoa8524 as a piano teacher of many, many years (and one with terrible memorizing confidence), I’ve worked hard to apply my theory knowledge (aka “analysis”) to the piece, and work physically with paper and pencil to make little “self invented memory reminder symbols” to really work with thinking about the piece. It takes me a really long time, so I mostly don’t bother. However, it worked well when I went for my accreditation exam. (Wow, I’m just joining, and answering this 4 years later - I must be avoiding practicing ;)
