My husband passed away a few days before christmas but I haven't been able to cry until today when I was listening to the music of John Barrie. I have cried all day but feel better for it The power of beautiful music
I am sorry that you lost your husband. But you can be sure there is someone who really cares about you. You can find the answer in the bible when Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30 " Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for yourselves. For my yoke is kindly, and my load is light." The bible predicts a time in which there will be no more death or disease. John 5:28,29 says you shouldn't be surprised, because the time will come when all, who are in the graves will hear gods voice and will come out. The bible gives information about what god plans to do on the earth, namely a paradise and how this will affect people, so that persons like you and me will get the possibility to see our loved ones again. And you know, in the bible there is so much evidence about where resurrections took place. For example when Jesus raised Lazarus ( John 11:43,44) or think of jesus when he got resurrected from god after 3 days. (Matthew 28: 1-20 ) and this will happen also in the very near future. Revelation 21:4 ....and god will wipe out every tear from your eyes, and there will be no more death, what used to be is over. My mother was the Music Coordinator for the school systems and had me in the circle of music my young life, meeting Directors, Musicians, and Composers of all kinds. I was very lucky to have this gift in my life and able to listen with my ears and my heart. Thank you John Barry for your gift of such beauty ~
Sometimes it's good to stop and reflect on the life you've had, the mistakes you've made and one's you've loved and lost. John Barry's music just seems to take you to that reflective place and although it may bring tears it will touch your heart and soul and bring you peace of mind. That is a rare and special gift.

I saw John Barry in London in the late 'fifties, when he had The John Barry Seven. He opened the show for pianist Winnifred Attwell. Who knew he would become one of the worlds' renowned composers? What glorious music. Like most beautiful things, it brings tears to my eyes.
So beautiful and touching. Nowadays John Barry is often forgotten if compared for example to others composers (e.g. Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Hans Zimmer, John Williams) but he has really a delicate music that arrives straight to the deep of the soul. He made several wonderful tracks

John truly had the perspective of an artist. He dreamed for peace in his later years. He moved to New York, Centre Island and remained there until his death on 30 January 2011 at his Oyster Bay home, aged 77. John never liked talking about his music & repiudiated the fame that came along with it. He attributed his success not to talent but being born into "good times". His musical style is genre defiant as using synthesizers with Classical was deemed controversial back then. But his characteristic Poly-rhythmic metres, Strings shrills, flurries & sweeping soaring crescendos placated with low Brass 5ths & delicate harp placements made his music stand out. His Bond Scores are some of the most disciplined pieces for Brass players & there are even moments where Barry himself couldn't prepare his players well enough to the operatic structure of some of his earlier works which required lots of short bursts of notes. One being in "Drop in the Ocean" from YOLT. His legacy is still felt today by people who were touched by his art beyond Bond titles which he later distanced himself from - wanting more gentil sombre projects to work on. Absolutely. Until I became a fan of mr Barry’s work, i had no way to tap into my deepest emotions. I lost my mother when i was 4 and i pretty much blacked out my memories to spare myself the pain. Little did i know this man’s music touched my heart in such a way as to help me deal with the flood of emotions i go through. His music creates a story that plays over and over in my mind. Thank you Mr. Barry though i know you are gone but will never ever be forgotten.

John Barry will always be remembered as our generations greatest film composer. This is giving John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Leonard Bernstein and others great recognition for their work.
All fantastic composers, but there just seems to be something about John Barry's work that sets it apart from even the greatest of his contemporaries. Perhaps it is his background - he grew up around film music in a family that owned cinemas, studied church music at York Minster as a schoolboy, fell in love with big band music as a young man, and was clearly blessed with the vision and talent to draw all these elements, and many more, together to become much more than the sum of their parts. Whichever way you look at it, he was a rare genius.
I have just discovered this poet of the music. It makes me cry many times 'cos my mum died a few months ago and many memoties come to my mind, but he makes them be sweet and calm. When I looked at her photo I also smile and feel as if she were still here with me. Everything is because of this beatiful music.

I put this piece of music on when I need to think and relax. I find that it stimulates my thoughts and experiences and emotions which in itself gives me a clear understanding of the world and the people in my life past and present. John Barry in my mind was and will always be a pure genius. Music is the one thing that stirs a person's feelings and emotions something inside that they cannot hide from, and John captures those feelings so beautifully in his music.

É verdade, são clássicos, que tocam alma, Simplesmente amo ouvir cada nota. O filme também é espetacular, quando é se arrepende de ter concordado, é vai atrás dela, nossa o desespero dele foi incrível de vê , essa atuação de Woody Harrelson foi maravilhosa.

It's strange for the past two years I keep coming back to this video. It has helped reduce stress from college tests and finals. There is just something about this music that makes feel relaxed and forget your worries. Glad I stumbled on this video by accident it truly has helped with stress.

John truly had the perspective of an artist. He dreamed for peace in his later years. He moved to New York, Centre Island and remained there until his death on 30 January 2011 at his Oyster Bay home, aged 77.
John never liked talking about his music & repiudiated the fame that came along with it. He attributed his success not to talent but being born into "good times".
His musical style is genre defiant as using synthesizers with Classical was deemed controversial back then. But his characteristic Poly-rhythmic metres, Strings shrills, flurries & sweeping soaring crescendos placated with low Brass 5ths & delicate harp placements made his music stand out.
His Bond Scores are some of the most disciplined pieces for Brass players & there are even moments where Barry himself couldn't prepare his players well enough to the operatic structure of some of his earlier works which required lots of short bursts of notes. One being in "Drop in the Ocean" from YOLT.
His legacy is still felt today by people who were touched by his art beyond Bond titles which he later distanced himself from - wanting more gentil sombre projects to work on. He will always be the sound of Bond, but as demonstrated here, he had a knack for dreamy pieces with no hard ends.

Absolutely. Until I became a fan of mr Barry’s work, i had no way to tap into my deepest emotions. I lost my mother when i was 4 and i pretty much blacked out my memories to spare myself the pain. Little did i know this man’s music touched my heart in such a way as to help me deal with the flood of emotions i go through. His music creates a story that plays over and over in my mind. Thank you Mr. Barry though i know you are gone but will never ever be forgotten.

John Barry will always be remembered as our generations greatest film composer. This is giving John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Leonard Bernstein and others great recognition for their work.
All fantastic composers, but there just seems to be something about John Barry's work that sets it apart from even the greatest of his contemporaries. Perhaps it is his background - he grew up around film music in a family that owned cinemas, studied church music at York Minster as a schoolboy, fell in love with big band music as a young man, and was clearly blessed with the vision and talent to draw all these elements, and many more, together to become much more than the sum of their parts. Whichever way you look at it, he was a rare genius.

I have just discovered this poet of the music. It makes me cry many times 'cos my mum died a few months ago and many memoties come to my mind, but he makes them be sweet and calm. When I looked at her photo I also smile and feel as if she were still here with me. Everything is because of this beatiful music.

I put this piece of music on when I need to think and relax. I find that it stimulates my thoughts and experiences and emotions which in itself gives me a clear understanding of the world and the people in my life past and present. John Barry in my mind was and will always be a pure genius. Music is the one thing that stirs a person's feelings and emotions something inside that they cannot hide from, and John captures those feelings so beautifully in his music.
