It’s just the bleak nature of the algorithm. You have to play the game and jump through heaps of uploading loops to get shown more in searches. I agree though, Daves channel is top notch!
Very good vid man.Wish i had seen smt close to that before i had rebuild my shock. Although i ve done it myself years ago and had spend many hours researching, still this vid you explained many staff i couldn t quite get.Awsome, good info man.
What a amazing and informative video sir! I have allways been little scary with doging service with my rear shocks and allways send them to specialist but damn. It is actually not that bad as i think. Thanks! From now on im not scared of rear shocks anymore.
The supposedly "unservicable" Sachs shock! Nice one Dave. P.s..why nitrogen and not good old free air? Best tutorial I've ever watched on the workings and repair of a shock..cheers.
It's impressive how mechanical engineers and fluid dynamicists have developed and refined these systems. I suppose when everything goes electronic, the engineering will change substantially.
Great info. If one were so inclined, could you increase the stroke of the shock to allow more wheel travel? Is there a spacer that sits in the seal head?
Hey, great Video, I´m doing the same to my Sachs shock at the moment, but how did you remove the Aluminium cap from the oil-reservoir and the ring from the cap of the gas-reservoir???
Well explained Dave, you make it almost so I could understand lol Can't wait to see the finished bike...... might even be tempted to buy it off I can convince the wife. That said, better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission 🤣🤣
No idea what shipping is available from Uganda. If DHL, ups or similar operate I'm sure they could get it to me. Drop me a message on the contact form if necessary Obsessionengineering.co.uk
Seal kits are available but some sachs shocks need modifying to allow re-gassing. The mid needed I'm not a fan of as it can add a weak point for gas leakage. If it has a remote res fir the gas it's much simpler and can be done no problem!
Compressing springs gives me the heebie jeebies big time. I know yours is how a lot of spring compressors are, but I'd like to see a strong mesh cage between you and that 'bomb'.
When I advertised the shocks I have sold and bought they are pictured from all sides,, but it's good shocks and low mileage,, only out because I bought an ohlins,,😞not good when it's intercepted on arrival,, but such is life ☘️☘️ from northern Ireland 😁
The short answer unfortunately is they can't be rebuilt. they're manufactured to a low cost and welded together. Replacement is the only real option, but a good chance to upgrade!
Dave, were you in Aberdeen today ? Was sure it was you but didn’t like to say hello as I wasn’t 100% if it was, bit too far north for you id imagine, bleeding nose and altitude sickness i imagine
@@obsession_engineering i thought it was you, i work off shore as well but in slightly better climates but worked North Sea for many years. Keep up the great and very entertaining vids
First class job with more info than I thought required to service a shock.
Sunday morning, tea n toast with a shock rebuild.
What could be better when it’s -1 outside.
Top job Dave.
A sausage n egg mcmuffin!
This is one of the best videos I have watched in the last full year. Thank you.
Thanks for the positive message :)
I just dont understand how you dont have more subscribers

Its a niche market
Thanks for the positive feedback 😁
Maybe not everyone is as interested in quality 😂
If Dave does your work, you know it'll be done absolutely right - OCD has it's merits !

Love watching these videos Dave…
Thanks for that made ,did not know how little that adj had on the shock thought both did a full job ,keep them coming
Interesting stuff Dave nice quality job
Always an excellent explanation of suspension functions! Dave the master shocks man! Rear setup looks brand new 🤙
Very well explained young man. it's interesting how the inside of suspension actually works.
Great video, Dave. 🫡
Nice rebuild. Helps me to understand adjustment now on my Dukes Ohlens rear . Thanks
If it's a later ttx Ohlins the adjustment will be completely separate, but the pre 46mm shocks all work like this
The supposedly "unservicable" Sachs shock! Nice one Dave. P.s..why nitrogen and not good old free air? Best tutorial I've ever watched on the workings and repair of a shock..cheers.
Only because its dry, same reason high end race tyres use nitrogen, no moisture to alter pressure at temperature.
Dried air would work just as well
Awesome tutorial thanks Dave
thanks for that - nice result mate! cheers.
It's impressive how mechanical engineers and fluid dynamicists have developed and refined these systems. I suppose when everything goes electronic, the engineering will change substantially.
We'll still need nuts and bolts to hold the sparks in though. Or at least I hope we will!
Brilliant video thanks so much I gotta service my rear shock mv agusta f4 1000
Nice one Dave,
Do like the suspension rebuilds slowly the mist is clearing and suspension set up makes more sense
Great info. If one were so inclined, could you increase the stroke of the shock to allow more wheel travel? Is there a spacer that sits in the seal head?
I can't actually remember on the ducati shock. Spacers are common on many road shocks, but usually there for a reason!
Great explanation and a job well done....double helpings of sticky toffee pudding for you Dave...
Great video, superb explaining!
Hi Dave, may I inquire as to where you procured the charge head?
Most of my tooling is either bitubo or k-tech
How informative man great job
Superb work Dave 👌
Hey, great Video, I´m doing the same to my Sachs shock at the moment, but how did you remove the Aluminium cap from the oil-reservoir and the ring from the cap of the gas-reservoir???
I use a small punch and hammer to gently persuade the oil side cap off, and knocking the gas side head down allows room to flick the circlip out
@@obsession_engineering Thanks for the tip, its now in parts 🤘
One more question, how much Oil and pressure did you fill in at least?
Respect from Panama in latín america 👍🏾
What measurement did you use for the floating piston position ? I can’t find anything anywhere on the internet
I measured it as I stripped it, but can't remember off the top of my head
Fascinating
Hello, mate can i ask you about your spring press. What is the size of the spring hole plate? Total length of the compressor?
It's great that we can pull our shaft up and down and in and out Dave, oh life would be so boring 😁
Well explained Dave, you make it almost so I could understand lol
Can't wait to see the finished bike...... might even be tempted to buy it off I can convince the wife. That said, better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission 🤣🤣
Hi,
I am Robert from Uganda. One of my ohlins rare shock started leaking. How can I get them to you for servicing?
No idea what shipping is available from Uganda. If DHL, ups or similar operate I'm sure they could get it to me. Drop me a message on the contact form if necessary

Woohooo been waiting for another vid
It sounds like Mr. Bean has been practicing talking for the past twenty years and is almost sounding normal.
Hi Dave, Is it possible to fully service a ST2 rear shock ? Cheers Rich
Seal kits are available but some sachs shocks need modifying to allow re-gassing. The mid needed I'm not a fan of as it can add a weak point for gas leakage.
If it has a remote res fir the gas it's much simpler and can be done no problem!
@@obsession_engineering Thanks Dave, it has a remote gas canister. Are you at the Manx GP this year ?

Very good indepth video
Love these videos. Proper geekfest, more in depth the better! What happened to the VFR boat?
Recently mot'd and taxed, v5 took an age to sort. Road test when the weather plays ball
@@obsession_engineering Good to hear is nearly ready. Lucky boy, I always wanted one, my 6 foot 2 frame didn't! Be interesting to see you ride it.
Do you know how to rebuild shock from versys 650 2007? It seems to be unserviceable.
The short answer unfortunately is they can't be rebuilt. they're manufactured to a low cost and welded together. Replacement is the only real option, but a good chance to upgrade!
@@obsession_engineering thanks. Forums say R1 shock is a good for replacement. Maybe some day.
Dave, buy more bikes and start more projects 👍

I actually was! Been offshore doing a gearbox change on a gas turbine.
