  • In this video, Amelia reviews the 2021 Suzuki Vitara Turbo. It’s a sub-compact SUV in an ever-growing segment. But could this Vitara prove that the fact that it was one of the first on the market back in 1988 means it’s tried, tested, and evolved into one of the best options available today?
    Visit: www.suzuki.com.au/vehicles/su...
for the latest deals and offers.
In its current generation, the Vitara offers three trim levels with distinctive differences, called Vitara, Vitara Turbo, and Vitara Turbo All grip.
Traditionally, the Vitara is fun to drive. It has precise, responsive steering and low weight, which makes it comparable in terms of handling fun to some zippy hatchbacks, despite the raised driving position and added ground clearance. And it’s not expensive.
The bonnet hides a small but very nice engine, at least in this particular car. It’s a 1.4 L turbo with 103 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque. All the torque comes from just 1500 revs and maintains the same level all the way up to 4000 revs which is just awesome. This engine can push the front wheels only, which is the case in this car, or all 4 in the case of the Allgrip trim. Also, it’s paired exclusively with the 6-speed automatic.

Bought one of these in 2016, clocked up 100,000km before it was a write-off in an accident. So what did I do with the insurance money... bought another one (2021). Perfect for a small family, reliable, good on fuel and fun to drive. The 2016 I had serviced 10 times with zero problems, reliability is underrated!!!!!

I took delivery of my Vitara allgrip a week ago in atalantis turquoise. I couldn't be happier with it.

A really honest review and appraisal of the car, thank you! We just bought one and are really happy! (Bit of a step up from my 9 year old 1.3litre Yaris, which has served us well but definitely time for a new adventure and an upgrade!)

What's the NVH like on course chip surfacing? Maybe include this in your future reviews?

They need to put this Turbo in the Jimny & give it a 6spd Auto

Honestly most buyers of this car will not drive it with snakeskin boots. Most will wear fleece sweaters and unbranded sneakers. This points out the strength and the weakness of this car: it is sensible, it is reliable, it is practical. But it laks every bit of personality, nor charisma nor drivers experience. It still lacks all the typical things Japanees cars in the 80s and 90s were so shy of. But where the other Japanees brands moved on, tried theid best in making good copies of what American or European motoring was about, Suzuki just got stuck. Interior styling even got very stuck, even the Honda Jazz of 2 generations ago already had a better interior. It is that dated!
But it's a fine car if you are interesting in going from A to B with all your stuff and passengers.

Responsive ,zippy drive translation for the layman it's dam quick or goes like a rocket 🚀 I can vouch for that haven't timed it but feel like 0 100 in about 8.5 .One of the most underrated compact SUV similar price to a mg zst or the Ford Puma with the Suzi you get a proper 4cyl and TC auto which will be far more reliable long term than those 3cyl T dsg rubish

So what has changed since Jenny's review of the Vitara a year or so back? It would appear to be identical with no updates?

Suzuki OZ cheaped out and kept the old 7inch infotainment screen. Overseas models get a much classier 10inch display.

Strangely I prefer the original Vitara looks than this current one. It's more unique looking.

Good review. Spot on. Really underrated car. Yes, it's fairly basic but you still get most of the safety features with a higher driving position. Interior is not my favorite but you also get an amazing engine as compared to the shit box CVT and laggy dual-clutch other brands are offering. Honda HRV interior is shit, same with Qashqai, Eclipse Cross is alright but then again you get bloody CVT. Juke is better than before but no arm rest at back, plus Dual Clutch with lag and less power for more money. This is Perfect for the price.

$35k seems steep for something of this size. Its pretty basic in terms of what you get. No rear vents or center arms rests. Boots not all that big either. Interior looks very dated. If you were keeping it after the warranty expired it would be a safe bet though.

Agreed. It is about $10k over priced.

I also agree… should only be $25k max.. very basic for the price…

High tech 1.4 turbo and a proper 6 speed transmission is what you pay for

I don't think it's worth buying though, same design exterior and interior and same engine, so outdated, I reckon buying a second hand 2019/20 model would be better. They should upgrade the engine to 1.6 turbo or put rear air vents and usb ports, then it's worth buying

Suzuki needs to wake up and go electric.
In a few years no one will want a costly petrol or diesel vehicle.
They need to go electric or they will go bankrupt.
