in the theater workshop version when they say goodbye during Goodbye love Mark says "love you" and Roger replies "love you too". They're each other's best friends
Fun fact: Robert Westenberg (Prince Charming in "Into the Woods and Neville in "The Secret Garden ") married Kim Crosby, who played Cinderella in "Into the Woods". They've been married since 1991. 😊
@henriklindholm7007 true, but the actor who plays Angel is usually a man. Depends whether you see "male duet" as male singers or male characters. Technically "you're timeless to me" from Hairspray would then also be a male duet...
Lily's Eyes is by far the most beautiful male duet ever. I only wish you didn't cut the songs off right before the stunning climax. Another great male duet is You're Nothing Without Me from City of Angels. It's brilliant and funny.
I'm hoping to see "Next to Normal" live for the first time later this year. I've listened to the soundtrack, and watched it on TH-cam, and it gives me all of the emotional feels. They really do an incredible job of conveying mental illness in a nuanced way.
I usually have issues with Ms Mojo's lists, LOL, but you nailed this one. As soon as I read the title, I said, "Lily's Eyes" better be number one! I saw Ben Platt perform at The Palace several times, so I caught a lot of the surprise guests, but I missed him performing this song with Brian D'Arcy James. Personally, that's the one performance I would have picked to see live if I had the choice.
The most amazing (and memorable) performance of "Lily's Eyes" that I saw was at a Neil Berg concert with William Michals and Brian d'Arcy James. The sheer power coming off that stage was breathtaking. I think we all wept at the emotional harmonies.
How could you pass over "You're Nothing without Me" from City of Angels, a confrontation between an author and the fictional character he created and who brought him fame?
I love all your picks EXCEPT number one - soooooooooo boring! I think Agony is probably my favourite because of how it subverts musical theatre expectations and fairytale expectations at once.
So not a true “male duet” but when performed by a gifted actor (sorry Hoff), Transformation/Alive from Jekyll & Hyde is a duet by one person. Have seen where the actor changes between Jekyll & Hyde so completely they do appear as 2 different actors. Probably one of the most difficult scenes to do live on stage effectively
Absolutely agree that "Lily's Eyes" deserves to be #1. But I'm sad that "You're Nothing Without Me" from City of Angels didn't make the list. Love that song.
I just rewatched Brian Darcy James (Barrett) and Martin Moran (Bride) performing this and I can’t believe I forgot that song existed. It gave me chills the first time I heard it. I consider it the best song from the show. That song is one of the main reasons I love the show so much.
‘Lily’s Eyes’ is absolutely correct as #1 but I am SHOCKED and horrified that “The Proposal/The Night was Alive” from Titantic and “You’re Nothing Without Me” from City of Angels aren’t on this list! 😱 Also, while “Agony” is correct, a mention of “No More” from Into the Woods would have been warranted. Such an emotional song.
Truly Alive from the musical Amazing Grace is an underatted gem! The song is a duet between an enstranged father and son who are arguing about the son's future. It's VERY tense, and the two sing overtop one another, each trying to overpower the other, building to a powerful finish. Definitely reccomend this musical!
Number one is correct, but you left off "Youre Nothing Without Me" from City of Angels. A song that is better than 1/3 of the duets you put on this list. Its incredible wordplay, driving tempo, and fantastic premises puts it up there with the best.
I think it was Ms. Mojo that ranked Everybody Ought to Have a Maid (A Funny Thing...Forum) as the funniest song in a musical. The main song is a duet between Pseudolus and Senex, while the two encores add Hysterium and Lycus. The same musical also has "Impossible" with Senex and Hero. Another one I think of is I'm Not My Father's Son from Kinky Boots.
Feed Me (Git It) from Little Shop of Horrors, Not My Father's Son from Kinky Boots, We Can Do It from the Producers and BFF from the Spongebob Musical should've gotten at least an honourable mention
So you have a song that's NOT from Broadway (off-Broadway isn't the same thing, and the only footage used was from the Netflix movie) to open the list, and not a very good song at that, when there are so many others to choose from. Brush Up Your Shakespeare is a better song!
Ms Mojo... you really need someone on your team who actually knows musical theatre and not just a handful of shows that you use over and over. No More from 'Tick Tick Boom'? Really? You and Me, but only Me is better than Pretty Women? Where is 'You're Nothing Without Me' from City of Angels? The Night Was Alive/The Proposal from Titanic?
Mark and Roger have the best onstage Bromance of all time. You really believe in their friendship.
in the theater workshop version when they say goodbye during Goodbye love Mark says "love you" and Roger replies "love you too". They're each other's best friends
I knew “Lily’s Eyes” was number one!!! Such a gorgeous duet!
I got to see the original cast on Broadway and this song brought the house down. 🥰
Didn't even watch video yet but seeing this comment made me so happy. Such an underrated gem!
Fun fact: Robert Westenberg (Prince Charming in "Into the Woods and Neville in "The Secret Garden ") married Kim Crosby, who played Cinderella in "Into the Woods". They've been married since 1991. 😊
Agree about What You Own, but a nod to I'll Cover You might have been nice too.
Is it a male duet though? Jonathan Larsen never specifies Angel's gender identity. Angel could be a drag queen or a trans woman
@henriklindholm7007 true, but the actor who plays Angel is usually a man. Depends whether you see "male duet" as male singers or male characters. Technically "you're timeless to me" from Hairspray would then also be a male duet...
@@henriklindholm7007 at the funeral Mark says drag queen and, if I'm not mistaken, they called them he and she.
@@henriklindholm7007 Good point!
@@susannariera I think Mark says he, then corrects himself to she.
"I, Don Quixote," the duet between Don Quixote and Sancho Panza at the beginning of "Man of La Mancha," should be on this list.
I love how it sets the tone for the entire musical. It's a crime that Impossible Dream overshadows it.
Lily's Eyes is by far the most beautiful male duet ever. I only wish you didn't cut the songs off right before the stunning climax. Another great male duet is You're Nothing Without Me from City of Angels. It's brilliant and funny.
When James Naughton won his Tony for "City of Angels" he thanked his costar Gregg Edelman by saying "I'm nothing without you, Pal". 🥹
Great to see Secret Garden getting such love!
You're Nothing Without Me . . . City of Angels. Pretty powerful male duet there.
The male duet in "A Little Night Music", where the two competing suitors lament about how perfect Desiree sems to be, needs to be on this list.
I'll Cover You (Rent)
Dear Theodosia from Hamilton is awesome!! both Hamilton and Burr become fathers
And they both outlive those children. It makes the song so sad.
I think I’m Not My Father’s Son from kinky boots should be included on this list
I'm hoping to see "Next to Normal" live for the first time later this year. I've listened to the soundtrack, and watched it on TH-cam, and it gives me all of the emotional feels. They really do an incredible job of conveying mental illness in a nuanced way.
I thought I was going to have to comment about “Lily’s Eyes” being left off this list. I’m so glad it got the recognition it deserved!
What about Pore Judd is Daid from Oklahoma?
I usually have issues with Ms Mojo's lists, LOL, but you nailed this one. As soon as I read the title, I said, "Lily's Eyes" better be number one!

"You're Nothing Without Me" from "City of Angeles". Love that song.
How about some love for “You’re nothing without me” from City of Angels, and “All for the Best” from Godspell?
The most amazing (and memorable) performance of "Lily's Eyes" that I saw was at a Neil Berg concert with William Michals and Brian d'Arcy James. The sheer power coming off that stage was breathtaking. I think we all wept at the emotional harmonies.
Mines gotta be Santa Fe by Jack Kelly and Crutchie from Newsies

I think you mean confrontation not alive
Absolutely agree that "Lily's Eyes" deserves to be #1. But I'm sad that "You're Nothing Without Me" from City of Angels didn't make the list. Love that song.
“The Proposal / The Night was Alive” from Titanic should be on this list. It’s definitely a top 3 duet
I just rewatched Brian Darcy James (Barrett) and Martin Moran (Bride) performing this and I can’t believe I forgot that song existed. It gave me chills the first time I heard it. I consider it the best song from the show. That song is one of the main reasons I love the show so much.
ABSOLUTELY!!! Definitely a top 3 (first place!!!)
It was originally a male duet, Leading Player and Pippin ON THE RIGHT TRACK. Ben Vereen was amazing!
"What You Own," "Agony," and "The Confrontation." All of my favorites! Maybe I'm just a basic ass theatre geek, though. LOL
You got ir right!! Lily's Eyes is definitely the best!🎉
Man Rob Westenberg sure does know how to be apart of a great male duet🤩
''BIG RIVER'' ''Worlds apart" and...
. . . and "River in the Rain"
What You Own underrated for sure
‘Lily’s Eyes’ is absolutely correct as #1 but I am SHOCKED and horrified that “The Proposal/The Night was Alive” from Titantic and “You’re Nothing Without Me” from City of Angels aren’t on this list! 😱

I just love the dual narratives during the confrontation.
10:51 My HS did this show and my friends sung this and it was SO GOOD!!
Sooooo glad Lily’s Eyes was number 1. I can’t hear it without choking up
Happy saturday afternoon, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
Lilys eyes was ever the best duet. I loved it
What about the duet in Love Never Dies?
Truly Alive from the musical Amazing Grace is an underatted gem! The song is a duet between an enstranged father and son who are arguing about the son's future. What You Own is one of my favorite songs in general
You mean Broadway AND West End...right? Also, why are Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal on your thumbnail if they are not in the video?
My favorite is number one and next one is number three
Number one is correct, but you left off "Youre Nothing Without Me" from City of Angels. A song that is better than 1/3 of the duets you put on this list. Its incredible wordplay, driving tempo, and fantastic premises puts it up there with the best.

We need a Top 10 Broadway Reprises! And Wait For Me is the only correct answer for number one
"Better with a Man" from A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder is a clever and fun duet that should make the 20 list when you do it.
I like "World's Apart" from Big River. I don't know if it is necessarily top 10 or even 20, but it's a good one from an under the radar musical.
Feed Me (Git It) from Little Shop of Horrors, Not My Father's Son from Kinky Boots, We Can Do It from the Producers and BFF from the Spongebob Musical should've gotten at least an honourable mention
DUDE, WHAT ABT “Stay Gold” AND “Deaths at my Door” FROM THE OUTSIDERS MUSICAL? 😢
Pretty Woman
Love the new charts ❤
You missed the male duets of “Aspects of Love” and “Love Never Dies”.
didn't both miranda and odom become fathers during their runs in hamilton, too?
My choice would be "Till Him" from "The Producers."
I'll Cover You from RENT would have been a good pick as well
Hugh and Russel singing in Les Miserable is the best thing ever
If you already like their version then may I direct you to either of the Les Mis anniversary concerts? Stunning renditions of the song, both times.
Where’s no more from into the woods
❤❤❤
you missed some of the best LOOK AND LISTEN TO MARTIN GUIERRE

Umm, hello? Jesus and Judas in the garden of Gethsemane? JCS
Nothing from the Producers!!
no funny thing happened on the way to the forum? no producers? what are you doing?
The recency bias in these Mojo videos is ridiculous. They simply ignore virtually anything written before 1970.
first one to watch
