I have had them for several months now and I absolutely love them. Design and build are both classy and premium. Sound quality is as good as all the reviews say. The ANC does a nice job of dampening the sound, and the touch functions are great. Sony did a good job on the app too.
Microphone on these earplugs are absolutely crap, it picks up a lot of background noise and makes it useless with an iPhone. For what Sony charges these are absolutely not worth the money

Michael Moya i loved the sound, noise cancelling, easy setup. But my most important factor for getting these light weight earphones was to use for calling due to battery life. I have Bose QC35 for music, have Powerbeats 3 for calls but my mic broke so this was a replacement. Anyhow store took it back confirming the mic is rubbish and gave my money back

I bought these and the new Apple AirPods Pro to test them on airplanes. The Sonys were noticeably better both at the sound cancelation and in the sound. Battery life is also awesome. These were a big winner for me. Returned the AirPods Pro... 😎👍

You don't talk about call quality. I had a call with someone wearing these who was on the train. It was really bad. Most reviewers say the call quality is garbage. What did you find (when there is noise in the background) ?
I can tell you first hand, the call quality is trash. Gave the Sony’s away to my sister and went for the AirPods Pro. Night and day difference. No matter how good the sound quality is (truly they are great), being unable to take calls at all or record voice messages render these earphones useless. People of the other side of the call would literally request me to disconnect the Sony’s when talking to them.
Sony has a slight edge in ANC over the AirPods, must only very very minimal. Was only able to tell the difference after multiple test tries. I will install the new software to see if the mic improved

People don't seem to understand what DSEE HX is. It is meant for upscaling MP3/Lossy files to lossless. So if you are using lossless files, it won't impact you but it will make a noticeable difference for lossy files by restoring them and filling in the parts that are missing. I find it very useful for songs that I cannot find Lossless files for as it makes a difference to the quality and I am very happy that Sony decided to include it.
Just got these, and they are amazing. There is just one thing that I can’t figure out, I’ve been using them for 2 days already and haven’t charged the case once and the Sony headphones app says the case is at 100 percent battery.. anyone else have this issue?
I agree. Just got a set of these and initially the app on my Samsung S8+ was totally useless as it kept trying to update the firmware on the headphones and crashing. I had to install the app on an old tablet and update the firmware on that first before I could use the app on my phone. Very shoddy app form Sony.
I got them a couple of days ago. They sound great but I miss to have 2 devices connected at the same time, like what you get with BOSE ones, avoiding having to connect manually to one or another, and depending on priorities switching from one device to the other automatically. i.e. with BOSE, while using your computer with a youtube video you receive a phone call, so the earbuds switch to the call in your phone automatically and the youtube video pauses.
Anything is better than apple 😂 the only reason you would keep buying appl5is if you prefer there phone/laptop layout or you are in too deep in there ecosystem
Joseph Riley I admit that Sony, in this case, definitely has better sound quality than Apple. However, in user’s experience, it is a tough call. Some users saying they have connection issues with Sony when switching ANC on and off. I guess at the end of the day, it is more towards personal preference.
Hi just trying a pair of these. So am I misunderstanding or can you not have any manual control of NC or switch to ambient if you want to control the volume on the buds, can’t even press and hold left as its now volume down?
These earphones are really poor !! Mine have failed just after the warranty run out. I did an internet search, and they are known to fail! Needing a replacement. The new Sony WF-1000XM4 have already started to fail already same issue. My recommendation is to stay away from Sony earphones. VERY EMBARRASSING SONY !!!
My unfortunate experience has been buggy connections. I've had two pairs so far and they've both had issues (obviously I've had one pair replaced). The main issue being both earbuds don't sync together and often. One doesn't connect or the other has noise cancellation and the second one doesn't. That said, I much prefer the over-ear Sony headphones which I use often and though the earbuds are small, the charging case is an awkward size. Just a little too big to stash in my pockets and/or most compact bag compartments.
I got these automatically on buying the Xperia 5. Bad design. The earbuds are so heavy they keep falling out, and they are almost impossible to find back in the dark.
I got these since August but to be honest no matter how i played with EQ settings, the sound is not very impressive considering the price (£220 here in UK). I actually find my old AKG tuned wired earbuds came with S9+ for free sound even better and clearer. If i play 50% volume with samsung earbuds they sound better than 50% of volume from M3X.
You have to increase volume when you use wireless earphones, especially if they have bigger and more complex drivers like the Sony s, if the AKG sound better to you it just means you are used to that sound signature, Sony headphones are normally tuned to be all arounders with a bit of a boost on the base to make hip hop music sound better and they normally have a decent sound stage and detail.
far from cheap, but apparently that's the price for true wireless ANC. really neat tech, but hopefully price will drop in the near future. Got non-ANC true wireless with foam ear tips and they are pretty great. If I want ANC I'll probably go all the way to over-ears to get the most out of them.

It has the worst call quality. I bought a pair last week. Updated it to 8.0.0 but call quality is still very poor. You can google for a 'call quality review' from customers not from TH-camrs.

Why the flying FUCK does this headphone make a bell noise every time it switches adaptive sound profile? And you can't turn this off? Am I the only one taking crazy pills here? 250$ headphones and this bell interrupts all the time? I don't want to turn it off lol it's a great feature but was the designer high? In addition, it would be very valid to have both volume control AND adaptive sound controls one one bud by enabling a triple tap on the same headphone you control volume.

Just got WF-1000XM3, not sure why, just cannot turn on the noise canceling, no matter how I setup it in the Sony app, just cannot active the noise canceling.
I've just ordered these to pair up with my Wh-1000XM3s. I'll use the over ears whilst commuting and the need for stronger noise cancelling is needed, and the in ears for exercising, walking etc.
I just returned them the basic function is disaster in those earbuds they can just mange the phone call quality better than this because nobody can use it for a phone call those earbuds only for listening to music nothing else

Athena return it and get a refund, I’ve had mine for less than 16 hours. I’ve already had to spend 3-5 hours googling shit and finding shit on reddit just to find out Sony hasn’t fixed major issues that have been there since day one. As far of my experience: Sound: good enough NC: superb for such a small device Mic: Terrible when making voice calls.... Battery: Not even 4 hours, 3.5 max with 100% NC on. Sony is saying 6 hours, but that's standard BS.
If you have an Samsung Andriod it could take multiple times before they understand that your device is your device I had the same issue have a pixel now no issues but yea after about a week of use they stayed paired threw Google
Today I had one bud play what was on my PC, and the other a podcast from my phone. Then Windows 10 would refuse to connect to them. For all these issues you may experience, just "reset" the pairing by storing them in their case.

Second, place them on your ears and press their touch button/surface for around 10 seconds. That will start the pairing process. 3) Press the Windows key + A for a shorter route, or go to the Bluetooth menu of your PC and add a new device pressing the + sign. 4) Wait for your headphones to appear, this may take time, sometimes it happens faster (no idea why it takes so much time sometimes.) 5) Enjoy! Windows will create two profiles for your headphones, 1 for calls and 1 for audio listening. The calls one is called Headset. Make sure you are not using this profile (it sounds muddled) by selecting the audio source in the volume/audio control menu of Windows 10.
You could do much better. If you really need to use them for professional purposes, I'd stay away from Sony and go for a Plantronics or Jabra, I don't know any models from Sony where the mike really shines.

The Sony | Headphones Connect app lets you assign alternative options, such as Google Assistant, to each earbud - There is an updated firmware out that may solve this for you. ( I have the headphones and know what you mean). The headset can be paired with multiple devices, but can only play music from one paired device at a time is what I'm seeing.

I had Anker ones they were Fantastic for music ,BUT speaking was terrible since on the other line- they can hear ALL STREET & everyone who was speaking while walking next to me . I like my xm3 but the problem with these (and other NFC true wireless headphones) is blocking outside noise so I can hear is great (I work around airplanes. Doesn't block out everything but the outside noise isn't hurting my ears) but blocking out noise for the microphone is horrible. I don't make calls with them around obvious super loud background noise, but I've made calls in my car (current generation civic) with the windows up, the radio and air conditioning off, driving around 40mph and the other person can't really hear me. It's a shame I have to use my old plantronics voyager headset for the car, then carry the Sony's for everywhere else instead of an all in one
Best truly wireless earbuds I’ve bought. Just spend to money. You won’t need another pair until the next ones come out. Just make sure you buy now and not a week before the new ones are released lol whenever that is.

If they were sweat resistant and had better NC mics for phone calls, I'd take the plunge. I own the WH1000XM3. GREAT NC! Calls= mehhh..ok. If y'all want a GREAT sounding true headphone with awesome passive NC, and a really good mic, try the Audeze Mobius. It's advertised as a gamer's headphone. But it's an awesome set of cans for telephone calls and music listening.
FYI battery life of these things improve dramatically (basically double) when you turn DSEE HX off. I don't notice any differences in sound quality when listening to good quality source with AAC codec. Try it!

I bought these earbuds last week, the sound is very very good, but the battery is not that good, the ANC is ok, but they just wont hold in your ears, especially if you have waxy ears. Going to return them this week, not very impressive.
as anyone used these with the bluetooth sound system on a motorcycle. I just bought an Indian with bluetooth only for its sound system. My previous bike that I had for 8 years had a 3.5mm jack so I used Bose QC20 and the noise cancelling and sound quality were very good. I'm interested if anyone has used these with an Indian. So, that means it can pick up the conversations happening around it as well if that setting is on, it defeats the purpose.

Tip: turn off DSEE X and the battery lasts longer with ANC on or off.

I have Sony MDR-EX650AP right now and I love them but I wanna go wireless. Is the sound comparable here? Or should I go for a different model?

You have to increase volume when you use wireless earphones, especially if they have bigger and more complex drivers like the Sony s, if the AKG sound better to you it just means you are used to that sound signature, Sony headphones are normally tuned to be all arounders with a bit of a boost on the base to make hip hop music sound better and they normally have a decent sound stage and detail.

far from cheap, but apparently that's the price for true wireless ANC. really neat tech, but hopefully price will drop in the near future. Got non-ANC true wireless with foam ear tips and they are pretty great. If I want ANC I'll probably go all the way to over-ears to get the most out of them.

Why the flying FUCK does this headphone make a bell noise every time it switches adaptive sound profile? And you can't turn this off? Am I the only one taking crazy pills here? 250$ headphones and this bell interrupts all the time? I don't want to turn it off lol it's a great feature but was the designer high? In addition, it would be very valid to have both volume control AND adaptive sound controls one one bud by enabling a triple tap on the same headphone you control volume.

I've just ordered these to pair up with my Wh-1000XM3s. I'll use the over ears whilst commuting and the need for stronger noise cancelling is needed, and the in ears for exercising, walking etc.
Put the over ears over the buds for max noise cancellation lol. I wonder if that would work
I just returned them the basic function is disaster in those earbuds they can just mange the phone call quality better than this because nobody can use it for a phone call those earbuds only for listening to music nothing else

Athena return it and get a refund, I’ve had mine for less than 16 hours. I’ve already had to spend 3-5 hours googling shit and finding shit on reddit just to find out Sony hasn’t fixed major issues that have been there since day one. Sound: good enough
NC: superb for such a small device
Mic: Terrible when making voice calls....
Battery: Not even 4 hours, 3.5 max with 100% NC on. Sony is saying 6 hours, but that's standard BS.

Today I had one bud play what was on my PC, and the other a podcast from my phone. Then Windows 10 would refuse to connect to them. For all these issues you may experience, just "reset" the pairing by storing them in their case.

Second, place them on your ears and press their touch button/surface for around 10 seconds. That will start the pairing process. 3) Press the Windows key + A for a shorter route, or go to the Bluetooth menu of your PC and add a new device pressing the + sign. 4) Wait for your headphones to appear, this may take time, sometimes it happens faster (no idea why it takes so much time sometimes.) 5) Enjoy! Windows will create two profiles for your headphones, 1 for calls and 1 for audio listening. The calls one is called Headset. Make sure you are not using this profile (it sounds muddled) by selecting the audio source in the volume/audio control menu of Windows 10.

You could do much better. If you really need to use them for professional purposes, I'd stay away from Sony and go for a Plantronics or Jabra, I don't know any models from Sony where the mike really shines.

The Sony | Headphones Connect app lets you assign alternative options, such as Google Assistant, to each earbud - There is an updated firmware out that may solve this for you. ( I have the headphones and know what you mean). The headset can be paired with multiple devices, but can only play music from one paired device at a time is what I'm seeing.

@@SurenPapanyan Unfortunately, it automatically switches to ambient mode when you're in a phone call. I've heard any other kind of tws earbuds do that too, including headphones

I like my xm3 but the problem with these (and other NFC true wireless headphones) is blocking outside noise so I can hear is great (I work around airplanes. Doesn't block out everything but the outside noise isn't hurting my ears) but blocking out noise for the microphone is horrible. I don't make calls with them around obvious super loud background noise, but I've made calls in my car (current generation civic) with the windows up, the radio and air conditioning off, driving around 40mph and the other person can't really hear me. It's a shame I have to use my old plantronics voyager headset for the car, then carry the Sony's for everywhere else instead of an all in one

If they were sweat resistant and had better NC mics for phone calls, I'd take the plunge. I own the WH1000XM3. GREAT NC! Calls= mehhh..ok.
If y'all want a GREAT sounding true headphone with awesome passive NC, and a really good mic, try the Audeze Mobius. It's advertised as a gamer's headphone. But it's an awesome set of cans for telephone calls and music listening.
FYI battery life of these things improve dramatically (basically double) when you turn DSEE HX off. I don't notice any differences in sound quality when listening to good quality source with AAC codec. Try it!

I bought these earbuds last week, the sound is very very good, but the battery is not that good, the ANC is ok, but they just wont hold in your ears, especially if you have waxy ears. Going to return them this week, not very impressive.
as anyone used these with the bluetooth sound system on a motorcycle. I just bought an Indian with bluetooth only for its sound system. My previous bike that I had for 8 years had a 3.5mm jack so I used Bose QC20 and the noise cancelling and sound quality were very good. I'm interested if anyone has used these with an Indian.
