This is perfect. Very practical. Unfortunately just as how I was zealous when I was a witness, when I learnt the truth about the truth I was just the same. When I was asked why I stopped attending the meetings I never hesitated to speak my mind.
Eventually I was DF for apostasy.
I lost all my JW friends and family but it didn’t matter so much as I already had friends and who were never JWs. If I didn’t have a good support system I would’ve been lost.

When I realized it wasn't normal to have armageddon nightmares, I knew something wasn't right. That's when I started questioning the sanity of our indoctrination. Keep in mind I prayed a lot about it till I realized God wouldn't expect me to be led blindly into fear. I decided to research and get in touch with others who hav and are experiencing the same thing. I am so grateful I did. At first my my mind tried to fight what I was finding out but in time I couldn't deny the truth about the truth.

ShoNuffSoulBro1 yes indeed soul brother. Brothers and elders are allowed to wear beards in Canada and also in Europe and I believe in some Latin America places. The US branch department believes that beards are a part of US culture so to abstain from being a part of the world the US branch made it to where we could not wear beards. It is very arbitrary on their part. However it is fair from being arbitrary on behalf of former and current members, especially when the governing body teaches that its unchristian like to have a beard and Jehovah may not view you as being Christian and will not hear your prayers. Then you learn that the same organization tells a different nation that it’s ok to have a beard and has no bearing on your relationship with Jehovah.

I see no problem with walking away, that's all you need to do. If you are an adult , since when was the last time you asked for permission to say or do anything? I'll wait.... The org. is not God! Whom I might add is the only one we should fear. Life is short. Don't live it in fear. As far as friends go, they were never your true friends. However, family, is a whole new game. All you can do for them is continue to love them and pray for them. I listen to various posts about their family shunning them but the only sane thing that I can recommend is to make believe they live in a far away city and just write letters. If we are honest with ourselves most of us live within the same vicinity of our relatives and go years without seeing or talking to them, until something tragic happens,. Such as a illness or sadly death. Until they decide to take control of their lives as we did, sadly there is not anything we can do but pray to God each and everyday. I was able to get one of my sister's away from the org. I would send her things and one day she on her own took a leap of faith and started to research and left. We have a mom and another sister still in, however, we all remain a close family regardless of our choices we individually made. And I have only God and prayer to thank for that. I truly believe if you had a strong family bond prior to becoming a JW. nothing can or will change it. That's only my story and opinion. Hope it helps. when I told my mom I was leaving, I said to her can I just be your daughter. My mom looked at me and said sandy, you know you always did question it. She respected my decision and I hers. Yet, our differences in religious beliefs did not break our strong family bond. When I made my mind up to never go back, I never stopped doing what I had always done with my family and that was to love, care and be there for them when they needed me, from the cradle to the grave. This is why I say don't tell the org. shit! Just as you make new year's resolutions and can't keep them it does not stop you from living a full and happy life. If keeping your family in tact Is important to you then just walk away quietly if you must but never pretend life is too short. Do not give them (gb) that much control over you and your love ones. When I run into a jw. and he/she ask me about where I attend now, I simply say, I dont. It has not been a problem for me. I will never make excuses as a grown woman. Period! "What can man do to me." He has no salvation!

    • @marwatson7408
      @marwatson7408 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Sandy Cochran I agree you are an adult just walk away which is what I did I got disfellowshipped I didn’t care anymore about what people thought walked out the door and never went back. No letters, nothings I pretty much left for the same reasons you left. Grown adults shouldn’t need permission to do anything with their personal life, whether to go to college, what to do for a living, when to get engaged or married, whether or not to have children which is some of the reasons why I left. They were way to intrusive enough was enough live your life because life is to short.

One of the identifying Mark's of a cult is the 'Spirit of fear' that is instilled in it's adherents...and yet the scriptures tell us 'ours is not a spirit of fear'see 2Tim.1:7..In other words, the true followers of Christ aren't afraid of man(organization, governing body, elder, etc.)Cults rob you of your ability to reason..just obey..so free will is eliminated under the threat of disfellowshiping..the bible is irrelevant..because the organization is first..talk about brainwashing...(i.e.,operant conditioning..Pavlov's dog..)

Here's the real truth the real truth is there are 4200 religions in world, 4200 opinions as to what we think God wants us to do or not want us to do. And everyone says that they are right. My belief is that every religion has a piece of the puzzle but no religion has the whole puzzle. we are guessing at what the creator wants from us the best we can do is follow our gut feelings one mans lie is another man's truth. My greatest wish is that the creator would come and sort it all out because as humans we just can't get it right. If we get one thing right we get some other thing wrong, that goes for all religions.

The bible gives the story of the supposed creation of Adam. Then per Gen 5 and 7 Noah's flood happened 1656 years later. Build a time line from Adam circa 6000 yrs ago to the flood. This puts the flood at 4344 years ago.
Native Americans got to America by crossing the Bearing Straight before 10,000 years ago. The Native Americans lived on to be found by European explorers including Columbus. Notice the timing of all this would have meant there were Native Americans alive before the bible claims Adam, the first human, lived. These Native Americans also failed to notice or die from Noah's alleged flood where supposedly all not on the ark died. The Adam story and the Noah story were both part of fiction told as truth...ie were LIES.
No true religion would ever LIE to you.
The Jehovah's Witness religion takes the Adam story and the Noah story as LITERALLY true, not as a parable of some sort
Could the bit about the Native Americans be WRONG?
Compare as to when the following people got to their current location
    Africans
    Australian Aborigines
    The first European cave painters
    Asians
It seems that the inhabited continents ALL report life....before the bible claimed Adam lived....and an ecosystem that was not trashed circa 4344 years ago.
Compare the date of this global flood to the Egyptian Old kingdom, Why did the Egyptians just FAIL to notice a GLOBAL flood? Why did they fail to die since they were NOT on an ark?
Re the Adam story....every one of these populations that lived before the supposed date for Adam indicates that story is a lie as well.
Any religion that pushes for a literal reading of the Adam story and the Noah story....LIES.
What ARE you all doing in a religion that LIES like that?

The most effective is having them read the Bible, in a normal translation. Every other tactic, their mind might default to "Apostate lies." However, they believe the Bible is their foundation ( It isn't ). Reading Romans, John or Isaiah in any normal translation, not the NWT, will quickly get them thinking differently. Showing them the real Jesus, and not the fake one created by the cult, should start to open their eyes.

lts a fantastic feeling when you get the truth, it feels like the weight has come off your shoulders. The problem is if all your family friends are witnesses then its going to be difficult saying you dont believe the witness books. You have to remember the organization has been running for over 100 years and it is against that type of control you are against. They have been through 100's of thousands leaving this religion. So you have to be prepared, but there is light out there, Spiritual is not the same as religous. And one last note lt is more than likely that the Most High himself is getting you out and calling his sheep. Dont go down with the goats.

I've been studying off and on since 2012..it was real good in 2013 and then in 2014 I accidentally saw something from the israelites and I've never been able to fully commit anymore to what I learned from the witnesses. I'm starting my studies again with a real nice brother but I still don't feel like I'm all there! Aren't you afraid that just being "spiritual" isn't enough? The scriptures say that people have a form of godliness but prove false to it's power..basically "spiritual" people.

With the JW' s they love bomb new comers, and the worshippers really are nice people ( most of them ) but there was never a letter " J " so the question is how could they know the truth, if they did not know the most High name?

@@justtruth5855 that argument isn't valid because we speak English and we DO have a letter "j"..lol. So as time goes and languages change we are up to date. In the here and now God's name is translated that way. I don't believe Jehovah is upset about that..the whole theme of the scriptures is STILL there..that God sent his son to die for our sins so that we can have everlasting life. My opinion is that Jehovah would rather have people use his name..whether they are unintentionally pronouncing it wrong or spelling it wrong than NOT using it at all. Or using titles? Isaiah 66:5
Hear the word of Jehovah, YOU men who are trembling at his word: “YOUR brothers that are hating YOU, that are excluding YOU by reason of my name, said, ‘May Jehovah be glorified!’ He must also appear with rejoicing on YOUR part, and they are the ones that will be put to shame.”

First thing. STOP using the New World Translation (Which is not really a translation, but a patchwork quilt of JW doctrines smuggled into the Biblical text). According to former Bethelite William Cetnar (author of "Questions for Jehovah's Witnesses who love the truth"), the 'translators' were the members of the Governing Body, none of whom had any more than a high school education and no expertise with the Biblical languages. This is the spiritual equivalent of asking a high school graduate do brain surgery on you with only an anatomy book and a scalpel with no classroom instruction and no mentoring on how do do surgery (starting with small things like cysts and working on up up to the brain). NO thank you! Your eternal destiny is MUCH more important to trifle with by entrusting yourself to charlatans.

I have sister who been that way for 17 years and she still talks to Jw and family who are still in. My sister don’t believe this crap but she still don’t have the titles of DF of DA. That’s one way Just be inactive and keep ur family. Art of war.
