    This new Integra and the Mazda3 Hatchback are two examples that compete above their price-point, and after having experienced both recently, I have to say they're the best examples of sport, style, and quality all under $40,000. Both feel exceptionally premium. I'd have a hard time choosing either, but this Acura is quite tempting. Great review Tom.

And ours has heated rear seat and fog lights. And most don't know features like at night interior and exterior door handles lights come on when approaching with fob, another is using fob unlock and hold to open windows and sunroof to close use key in fob in door key hole also to open and close, service mode for wipers.

    Nice video again Tom, I think you are right, Acura did well on this one. I know ppl have been bashing the naming of the car since it does not fit all the checks of the original Integra. Personally I think it is back and has been expanded upon. I am glad that Acura is bringing their notable names back based on what sells in today's time but also being careful to make sure they bring it back with a bang of some sorts.
    As you put it wonderfully, at least they did not release yet another crossover like a certain other company I know who's EV even is probably more forgettable than the gas powered ILX, we can actually extend that to their entire brand not just one car & I have criticized them time & again that they do not offer variety. Yes ppl buy SUVs alot but you cannot just say (them) well we only see ppl buy SUVs when you only sell a fleet of SUVs since that is most of what your line-up is comprised of! I am naming names company guilty of this is the fellow Japanese auto maker Mazda. Anyways as you have said Acura got the enthusiast as well owners looking for practicality with this one same can be said for the new TLX.

    0:30 Yea rose colored glasses. I cant remember being unhappy as a kid now. But i know i had to have been. And still memories of more recent times 5 years ago i got trapped in the snow on my sport bike. I was extremely angry, but took some disgruntled pictures anyways. Now i see those pictures and i have such fond memories. The reality was i was pissed! But the rose colored glasses of time rub that out. Back to the car. It would not have KILLED Acura to just give us what we wanted. Not one or two but 4 round head lights on the front clip with a minimal to non existant grill. Instead they give us a grafted ILX. Thats literally all we wanted.

    The ILX is a great car. Considering they had 3 renditions of it, clearly people bought it. The biggest positive of the ILX over the Integra was that the ILX had a gem of an 8 speed DCT whereas the Integra is now a dreadful cvt if you don't get the manual

    My first new car was an '88 Integra 2-door hatchback. Loved that thing. It was fun to drive, but more important made me feel good when I drove. This new Integra is too slow and expensive. Nice it has a 6-speed option, but only on the top model. I've moved on from my '88 Integra, but I've also moved back. Make it a 2-door hatch with the 2.0 turbo and I might consider. I'd love to find an old Integra or better a 1st gen Legend Coupe with the manual. Make something like that, Honda!

    A great review the stands out amongst a sea of less informative car reviews. With soo many SUV models in the marketplace, it is refreshing to see a new 5 door hatchback model. I note that the rear seats fold flat which is great if you need to slide large items into the car single handed. As always a test drive is the only way you can tell if the Acura fits your expectations. It’s on my short list.

    Late to the party but I had to comment. I was one of the people who was completely disappointed with this car. I went to a dealership look to see it in the flesh, out of morbid curiosity. Ended up liking it a lot more in person. Then I test drove a manual white one with the red interior. It drove so well and like the look of the blue one so much I ended up ordering a manual blue one. It was quite a surprise, I really hate it when it was unvailed. I learned my lesson, always see a car in person and test drive it before judging it.

    I test drove one of these 6 months ago as the Civic SI was impossible to get at MSRP, which meant you could buy this for about $5k more. In the end the power was not great. I think the VW GLI is the better buy here. Similar to the GTI but with actually buttons and knobs instead of the haptic nonsense on the GTI. The Elantra N is a strong consideration if you are ok with the nose and interior plastic usage. PS - Your sponsor sounds really interesting. About time someone came up with something like that.

    • @JustinConley
      @JustinConley ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The interior plastics in the GLI are as bad as those in the Elantra N, IMO. I've had my Integra since October. I would not mind a bit more torque - after coming from a Golf TDI, that is what I miss most. But the stereo, the shifter, the ergonomics, the seats, and the usability of the car with the occasional entry-level luxury flair have kept me quite satisfied. I bought this over the unavailable and marked up Si.

    I was just about to comment how unappealing this vehicle was until you mentioned the competition. Somehow this seams somewhat appealing over the awkward looking CLA and 2 series. At least the 2 series doesn't have BMW's horrendous front grille. This Integra definitely looks better than the ILX, so somewhat of an upgrade. I agree the manual makes this something to consider. My first car in 1986 was an Integra - overhead cam and transmission gave up - spent thousands and owned it till about 2003 and 160k miles. Unsure if this car will sell well. There has been too much of a gap for the brand, and those of us who owned an Integra back in time have moved on to bigger and better cars as we move on in life. I have seen the folks at Honda goof up and make bad decisions - as a strategy consultant, tried advising them on how to compete better. Looks like this car is a gamble by a senior Honda executive - do not see it succeeding.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm surprised this car is even a thing considering that SUVs sell best. So there's that. Something under the RDX would gave been a volume seller. And we'll see what the Type-S does as a halo to sell more of the standard Integras.

      @@DrivenCarReviews Agree whole heartedly. Over the decades, lack of upward progression by the Acura brand has meant that the Honda vehicles are being dumbed down - this Integra could well have been a Civic. And the Accord is always held back by the TLX which could have been made bigger and made a true competitor of the German luxury sedans. Instead it competes with its stable mate and each cannibalizes sales of the other. There is no Genesis-type strategy to build cars that can compete with the best from Germany

The VW GLI - a car costing 4-5k less than this but with more power - and Civic Si make more sense. Acura has the Accord motor and SH-AWD. At 38k, Integra needs both to present a meaningful difference from Si and GLI.

    Big Honda fan but doesn't the new Prius do 0-60 in the same range as this car? I know 0-60 isn't the focus of this car but if a hybrid economy car can do 0-60 in that time, what's the point of getting this car? Shifting your own gears or the name plate surely don't justify a 38K price tag on their own.
    This seems like another interim Honda product on their move to EV's. They didn't try too hard on this one.

    It's a shame they had to attach the integra name to such a bland rehash of a car. Honestly I can't tell the difference between this and the rest of the car shaped products Honda/Acura makes.
    Coupled with the fact that these cars have ballooned in size, it makes it an all around unappealing package, especially for being over $40k.
    Then again, as someone once said, They have already produced all of the cars I will ever own. This version of the integra is a great reminder of that.
