I've always interpreted this as the lead singer starting the narrative of a bad day, and the second singer (who comes in with those one-liners) as the "voice in the back of her head" reinforcing those sentiments. You feel the absolute worst when your "inner voice" can't help you, and even makes you feel worse. [I'm always a sucker for these well-constructed songs.]
I am watching this after binge watching most of the videos related to the elections in USA. I feel like some parts of the song can fit to the feels going on in most people right now.

These 2 wonderful talented twins are so underated in the international music industry simply coz they choose not to get to raunchy and sing almost naked like most, unlike most famous singers, these 2 lovely woman maintain their self respect and dignity, LOVE their music, was here in late 2019 :)
