  • 🚀 Mission Details: Go beyond the wormhole to another solar system, to a ringed world with hydrocarbon oceans, blue sunsets, and a black hole looming in its sky. The world is SERA from the Kcalbeloh Planet Pack Mod in Kerbal Space Program.
🌌 About Kcalbeloh Planet Pack Mod:The Kcalbeloh Planet Pack introduces a multi-star system orbiting a black hole connected to the Kerbol system through a wormhole that includesmany new challenging destinations to reach.
🌌 About OPM (Outer Planets Mod):The Outer Planets Mod expands the original Kerbol system with additional gas giants and moons beyond Jool including stock-alike Kerbal analogues of Saturn (Sarnus), Uranus (Urlum), Neptune (Neidon) and more. I consider this to be an unofficial stock expansion to the OG game.

i am not sure about ksp but going extremely fast over a dense atm should cost you A lot of energy as drag increases with speed. I usually try to balance speed/rate of climb to mitigate It. Not too slow neither too fast. Usually if I see red in thicc parts of the atms I count that as inefficient.
    Amazing video!

Cool video; looking forward to more. I've been receiving playing a homeswitch playthrough with this pack. It's very cool.
If you want a challenge, try going to the lava planet in the arlac system. It's actually extremely hard to get there without burning up, I still haven't managed.

Thanks! I'm working on a new mission right now! That's a cool challenge. I really like the Alrac binary cus you can do some crazy gravity assists. I could probably gravity assist to a low orbit close to that lava planet for not too much fuel. Is it just super hot cus of the proximity to the star? Do you have any advice on how to manage the heat, radiators etc?

@@boguekerbal Yeah super hot because of proximity. Strangely orbiting the lava planet isn't too hot but being in the SOI of the star results in an explosion a lot of the time.
I haven't successfully did it yet, it's on my bucket list but what I've read up is that putting as much as your craft inside fairings help, they have a large heat tolerance.
As well as your heating is going to increase based on the exposed area facing the star, you might think radiators would be the play but if you position them in a "standard" way you're actually increasing the amount of area exposed to the heat.
It's definitely pretty weird and honestly it'll be worth it to cheat a craft in orbit and see if you burn up while timewarping before you attempt the "real mission"
The next good thing is that being so close to that blue giant star means you have an absolute crazy amount of electricity from solar panels.
I know that just 1 1x6 solar panels can run some of the higher power consumption parts from Near Future Propulsion, so it might be worth it to use ion propulsion, the plus side too is that you'd be decreasing the size (and thus area) if you design it well

Awesome info, Thanks. Yeah that makes sense that the radiators would probably actually start catching more heat than you are radiating out. Maybe I have them on the back side of the ship and keep them facing away from the star with my ship as a shield. Designing a small ship with a large fairing for a shield seems like the play. I'm definitely gonna start cheating orbits to test landers for future videos. @@churchseraphim1380
