Saiki is the real dark queen of rock today in the world, she also wanted her to have a vampire smile, she can make your hair stand on end when she sings a few meters away from you, and you at the end of the concert you will be absolutely in love with her, you cannot have hope to save yourself.
She will lower in front of you and you will hear his natural voice while his hand with very long fingers will dance in front of your face and you will sink into a well of emotion.
Akane at first will seem exaggerated and invasive, but then you will understand that no one today can play the drums like her, she is the hammer of God.
At the band maid, concert mixing is set a lot on bass and drums, and you can vibrate with Misa throughout the concert in a whirlwind of low notes that you can't even imagine if you don't go to see them in concert.
Misa's bass and Akane's drums are truly an explosive mix, but at the concert, you will discover the incredible rhythms on Miku's guitar which is always out of phase and in counterpoint creating really new rhythmic atmospheres, and then weaves crazy choruses with Saiki.
in the end, Kanami transforms her guitar into a generator of emotions, she can go on phrasing throughout a song in a way that if you don't go to a concert you can't even understand.
She can do things at the speed of light that no one else can but by keeping a soul and an emotion, she does not just do scale exercises.
In conclusion, I went to a Band-Maid concert hit by a friend, and I was stunned, I felt the same forgotten emotions that I felt with the super bands of the 70s and 80s, it was like being at a Led Zeppelin concert, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rush, Queen, maybe even better. and I have seen these bands all in concert even many times.
After that incredible evening, I chased the Band-Maid for Europe for a whole week to see other concerts.
Incredible concerts in small theaters where I was in the front row 50 centimeters from Saiki, where I dodged the neck of Kanami's guitar that could break my teeth, they are powerful and they have fun while playing, their concerts are something truly unique and indescribable, from a few meters you can see Akane, a slender 165 cm girl who plays with the power of John Bonham for 2 hours in a row continuing to smile and looking around at the spectators.
    Akane is supernatural believe me.
Go to the Band-Maid concert and then maybe you can even die.

Dice is like a BAND-MAID anthem.
At least for me since it was the first song I heard from them. Late, but what a hell of a discovery. Miku is there, but their voices are so similar that you can't tell them apart. It sounds as if Saiki's voice was layered, but it's actually Miku. The new released Wonderland (Live) shows more of their progressive side.
Your summary of why you like their music so much is spot on. The definition of BAND-MAID.
    RockOn!

You need to check out Alone sometime. It's a very important song in their discography as it's the first song that the band wrote totally on their own that was allowed to be released on an album. It marks the beginning of Band-Maid as we know them today.

What drives me nuts is that Miku doesn't get near the love she deserves But it really says a lot about Miku as a person. Miku brought all these crazy talented musicans together and just let them all shine! She doesn't let her ego get in the way.
I read this somewhere. Once upon a time there was this pretty girl who liked pigeons. One day she decided to form a band. At that time she just happened to know a brilliant guitarist/song writer, Who just happened to know a brilliant drummer, who just happened to know a brilliant bassist. Then Saki-Sama made everything perfect!

I usually hate people who stop the video all the time but your enthusiasm is great. You obviously know what you are talking about and that's a lot better than some numnut jumping around pulling his t shirt over his head being overwhelmed staring at the camera in shock even walking out of the room and coming back in. I hate those people . What I would like to see as BAND MAID don't seem to copyright anyone is for a reactor to play and listen to the song then play it again stopping at key points to analyze and comment. I think that would be great but you did a good job. Just having a genuine appreciation is the main thing.

A lot of the time in the chorus, Miku will follow the vocal melody an octave lower, then break away for a showy harmony for punctuation. Her voice and Saiki's meld so effortlessly together, which sounds amazing in live recordings but sometimes does hide Miku in studio sessions.

Thanks for the very interesting and educational reaction! While Band Maid may not get the play or recognition that they deserve, more and more musicians (like yourself) are discovering them and listening. The musicians tend to be surprised by their creativity, scale and chord selection (not just blues, but jazz scales and drum patterns, punk, funk, pop, etc., their ability to seamlessly merge all of those genres, the differences and nuances in the verses, the willingness to take risks and utilize multiple riffs in a single song (not afraid of composer's block), the willingness to rework songs for live performances, etc. Did you know that Kanami has rewritten a number of songs to take advantage of Miku's improving technical abilities on the guitar? Kanami is a very proud sensei! I think we will see more of that in the future, including a few lead breaks for Miku at some point.
I think the musicians are really surprised to discover that while Band Maid has a gimmick they ARE NOT a gimmick. These ladies are virtuosi, and outwork almost every other band out there. I believe that they will be very influential. We'll start to see other musicians raising their game and level of effort.

As amazing and incredible as it currently sounds, it is absolutely true they don't have many bad songs. You can put on any of them and have the same reaction. Lots of detail, never lazy. I listen to them a lot, and it always elevates my mood. They are the definition of ear candy. In this song, Miku does the lower voiced singing and while it seems like it gets lost I can't imagine the song without that.

I thought it was funny/entertaining that you mentioned Anime, and they do have an Anime outtro... Glory for Yugi-oh: VRains. Next you will be mentioning why they don't have a main theme for like a drama series... oh wait... Bubble for the Japanese Drama series Perfect Crime.... Well maybe they just need to star as themselves in some movie or something.. oh wait.. 😁😎 I'll leave that one hanging... at least till Covid has passed enough to film Kate... oops...Thanks man, your reactions are a blast and informative. 🤘

    • @keithcraig506

Be VERY careful reacting to Glory. That's usually the one that gets the strikes. It probably has something to do with the fact that we're dealing with multiple companies, Revolver Records (BM's label), whatever company owns Yugi-oh and who know who else.

Both 'Freedom' and 'Domnination' LIVE were recorded at Line Cube in Shibuya. And though the performances were great, It's not their best LIVE recordings. Room mics are fine for picking up audience response, but then the instruments sound very unfocused. The bass especially is lost in the room ambiance. Yes, Miku's backup vocals often blend in so well they sound like a chorus with doubling has been put on Saiki's voice. But if you watch the LIVE songs from Sound Coast or the Zepp Tokyo LIVE concerts, the Doubled Chorus is on Miku's vocals. So it's sounds like Kanami is singing too, which frees her up to concentrate on the leads. She only pitches in to help on the vocals for the Chants and on the Soft Acoustic Ballads. But any Bassists who say their's no money past the 5th Fret obviously haven't seen MISA's playing., especially on Lead Bass and her Call & Response "Battles" with Kanami.

This band is really very eclectic, not only in the style of their songs but in the elements that compose them. Pop, punk, funk, hard, metal ... man, even calypso if that's possible (Matador). For me, however, the adjective that suits them best is Progressive. The song Wonderland is a great example of that.

id like to suggest more bandmaid songs next but it gonna get endless lol. how about a change of pace and check out Unlucky Morpheus, they described themselves as neoclassical melodic speed metal. like bandmaid they are amazing in every department, great songwriting, great live, great technical play, and they got phenomenal vocal. i might hype them too much but they are just that good. anyway check their song Cadaver/Revadac if you are interested. fyi Revadac is basically Cadaver played backward.

I really have to second the comment of checking out Alone. As their first "allowed" self-written song you might think it's going to be lacking since it's such an early song but I promise you won't think that. It was released 4 years ago and it sounds just as awesome and great as the songs they put out and perform today.
Also, do Secret My Lips and after that for a fun mind-blowing surprise, Secret Maiko Lips. DON'T SPOIL YOURSELF, TRUST ME HERE. I'm a Dreamcatcher and Band-Maid fan like you, I won't steer you wrong.

If you like miku’s voice try their very first video“ thrill” MV. She sings whole verse even though they didn’t write that song.
    That song got everyone’s attention.

It's so rare to have a band so consistently put out solidly written, catchy and fun songs. Like even Rush has some awkward songs, you know? There's only one other group, well, a duo but yeah, who I've never heard a bad song from. They're super different from anything you listen to here, but Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer have some of the best songwriting I've ever encountered.
Being a folk group, they're much more lyrically focused, but their musicianship is fantastic, too. Dave Carter (RIP 2002) was a master of that really fast acoustic fingerpicking you see from bluegrass players sometimes. I read an interview where Tracy said they would rewrite a song 20 or 30 times before calling it good, and that effort shows. Because like I said, no bad songs.
It's hard to describe what they were about. I mean they have a sad cowboy song about Lancelot, and a rip-roaring tall tale from a trucker about how he survived driving down a mountain in a snowstorm. So yeah if you want examples of fantastic lyrical composition, I highly recommend them. Not metal in the least, though.

Great you did this, it's a signature MV for them. Good analysis too. Not to tear you away from Band-Maid, but you will be amazed when you find out how deep the Japanese girl-metal scene is. Trying again with Lovebites "When Destinies Align" th-cam.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/w-d-xo.html Pretty sure you will be blown away.

Nice reaction. What you might also have found lacking in Freedom was that it was not actually written by Band Maid. It also did not quite sound like a Band Maid song to me either, even though I enjoyed the hell out of the performance (Achan on those drums yeah!). Note also that Cross (recently posted on their YT page along with Wonderland) is not actually written by them either (I'd react to Wonderland instead - it's a beauty).

    • @rmdcade1717
      @rmdcade1717 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

"Wonderland" is my favorite from _Conqueror,_ but I like "Cross" as well, both studio and live. It feels like they took a third-party written song and used it as an experiment. Not a showstopper, but still fun and definitely something they made their own.

    • @drogonr9318
      @drogonr9318 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@rmdcade1717 Cross is a great song also, I agree, and maybe some of the individual parts were arranged by some BM members, but the overall song arrangement I don't believe BM had a hand in. It's a fun listen but if I'm going to recommend a BM song for a YT reactor (with limited time), I think I'd prefer to recommend one actually written and arranged by BM, as there are so many great ones, such as Wonderland. This particular reactor appears to be appreciate interesting songwriting: I'd recommend Yolo (MV), Moratorium (live), and Daydreaming (MV or live).

MISA MISA MISA! I personally think they do NOT have any bad songs just some that are not quite to your taste for me it is "Glory" LOVE the Basswork throughout but it is still my least fav Band-Maid song (that would be a Hit Single for any other Rock group).
edit: have recently heard a live version of Glory with a Solo by Miku then Kanami and hasn't changed my mind but made me more appreciative of it.

Obviously you have to go for the new live performances. But if you want to shake things up a bit as well: Heading in one direction you have Lovebites ( try the songs Shadowmaker or When destinies align ). Or heading in the other the band that got me into Band Maid and Lovebites to begin with: Mutant Monster ( Not many MV's out there but go for Abnormal or 離してあげる ). If you want more info on either let me know, but I kinda want to let you walk into seeing them without knowing what you are in for. 👍

Freedom is actually a really early song. So it wasn’t quit where they would get to latter on. There’s a live version of freedom that’s pretty old now and it’s not nearly as good as the 2018 or 2020 version of the song. The girls have a lot more involvement in the production of the albums after the first couple and the production got much better, or maybe be smarter.

Dice is the best MV/song to recommend to someone as their first exposure to Band-Maid. As to why they are so good is, they all are educationed in music and had work as professional musicians and singers prior to Band-Maid. Think in terms of The Band and the Eagles who were backing bands and sessions musicians prior to their fame as bands.
