Thanks for the shout out Nick ! This was my first marathon and hopefully not the last =) There are some songs from the seventies you really need to hear as well ! Great Reaction ✌🤘
Band Maid virgin here...Never even heard the band name before much less a note of their music. First impressions having just finished the marathon: 1. THEY KICK TOTAL ASS! The energy level is off the charts...2. The musicianship of every member is world class..just jaw droppingly impressive...3. I really enjoyed their compositions...interesting, engaging, drew me in...Thanks for the introduction, Barry!
Welcome Gary , Band-Maid shine when performing live =) Some songs you might enjoy are "Real Existence" Official Live or "Play" Official Live ! Nick has covered both on his channel ! Also their first MV "Thrill" from 9 years ago ! Thanks for your kind words !
Onset is just a small sample of what they can do live. This is the concert at Zepp Divercity that you can see on their official website as long as you subscribe. Welcome Gary.
Welcome to Band-Maid Fellas! You are in for a ride that you didn't even know you you needed and will change the way you listen to music. As well as open doors to new types of music that you had no idea existed! Crazily as good as they are in studio they're even better Live!
Kanami (lead) exclusively plays PRS guitars (Custom 24), Miku (rhythm) plays Zemaitis and has her own custom model, MISA (bass) plays Black Cloud and now has her own custom model. All of them are now in their early 30s and have been together for over 10 years. On a side note, I think Kanami shows that she began as a pianist (from 3 years old), by the way she taps, not just providing an extra finger to the left hand, but with the two hands playing different parts. Her influences are Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, and of course EVH.
Side Note to the Side Note; The Drummer, Akane, the Bassist Misa and Lead Guitarist Kanami have all been very musical from a young age and all 3 are multi instrumentalists, didn't pick up their Final Form band instruments until they were in Highschool. All 3 will be 31 or 32 this year, meaning that they've only been playing their instruments and attaining mastery of their skills for somewhere in the neighborhood of only 13-15 years! Mind boggling considering many musicians play their entire lives, never reaching a fractionality of that level of mastery. Icing on the cake the Rhythm Guitarist and Co-Lead Vocalist / Band Founder Miku didn't start playing guitar until after the band was formed 10 years ago and admittedly didn't take her playing seriously (doing just enough for each song) until about 3 years in, putting her at about 7 years of serious guitar training.
EXCELLENT! Rock and Prog and BAND-MAID go together. As instrumentalists in the Rock world BAND-MAID cannot be topped. Short and sweet with no egos involved. Talk about feeling and music that hits your soul. AWESOME! Peace. 89.2
I don't know how anyone could listen to these four songs and not be blown away by how good a guitar player Kanami is, not to mention the other members of the band. Then you learn that Kanami also wrote most of the music to all of these songs and you start to understand her genius. She's really special.
I would not go so far to reduce it to Kanami. If you consider it precisely they are an example of overqualified. 4 of their 5 members can and in some sense do compose and they canin many cases play multiple Instruments. So Misa often enough rewrites her Bass to support other Instruments if she finde they need her more in this Moment. And in such cases sometimes Akane feels that her drums are needed in a different manner. And so simple projects can evolve into melodies Kanami never expected.
Kanami (lead) plays PRS. The Les Paul looking one is a Zemaitis played by Miku (as is the V in the last video). MISA plays a number of basses made by Black Cloud, a boutique Japanese builder
Welcome back to the Maids, Nick & Lex. You are once again embarking on (along with many others - over 190 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! In addition, their Japan tour finished up with 13 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concluded at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023 and in Hong Kong Dec. 21! The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
Kanami, the lead guitarist, has composed over 130 songs, and none of them are bad. She is called a genius, and her guitar technique is also world-class. Miku, the rhythm guitarist, writes the lyrics for all the songs. Bassist Misa is an amazing talent. Drummer Akane has great technique and amazing stamina. It is said that a famous American drummer became a fan. Singer Saiki is truly a rock singer. There are very few groups with this many members. I think they are one of the top-class bands in the world now. Their true power is demonstrated in their live performance. I hope you enjoy it.
4 beautiful examples why these ladies are right with their own words... 👇🏻🔥🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Forever!"_ 」 - from *BAND-MAID* - 'Manners'
Im a huge Band Maid fan, I love all members of this amazing band, but my favorite is Kanami! She is amazing guitar player, I think she is from another planet!!!
If you like movie music, Band Maid actually had a cameo in the Netflix movie Kate. The main character went into a nightclub where the Maids were playing the song Choose Me. This song Blooming appeared as well, playing on the radio of a car the MC was driving, even upside down!
The album from which Without Holding Back originates is called Unseen World. Band-Maid also released an Instrumental Score album of Unseen World where all the songs from the Standard Edition are played without vocals. :) it's worth checking out.
Thanks for the reaction. Kanami (lead guitar/composer) sometimes writes instrumentals as practice exercises for Miku (rhythm) and she is still learning guitar (although at this time, she's pretty damn good). This video (called "White Room videos") are bonus videos included with album releases, they are not released to the general public or posted on their YT channel.
Kanami Tono is an "emotional" guitarist, but also very good technically. That is, he can achieve what he wants. There are probably hundreds of faster, more "technical" players at a "higher" level than him, but there is only one of him. And it's no wonder that Carlos Santana is his role model. This can be heard in many cases in his playing.
I was at the Band-Maid show you mentioned in Denver, Nick. It was a total blast! "From Now On" (the only track I've seen live from this marathon...so far) was absolute fire. The Summit is a pretty cool place to see a concert, so I recommend. (Upgrade to the balcony if you don't like to stand.) The next time these ladies play in our fair state, I'm pulling for Red Rocks. THAT is gonna be AMAZING! Anyway, thanks so much for checking out The Maids again! 🕊
Yeah Akane is a complete beast my friend, in my opinion of course, on the drums. Appreciate the long reaction vid, subbed you, and great choices on the tracks sir. I’m Jeff of The MCU’S Bleeding Edge and I’m a big fan of the Maids.
What is interesting about this group is that all the musicians in it are frontmen, they all have solos, and more than one, and at the same time they are synchronized with each other like a mechanism...
Guthrie Govan and his band The Aristocrats are the best metal/prog/jazz fusion instrumental band around, glad you dig him and glad you dig Band-Maid too.
Pretty unusual to do 3 Band-Maid instrumentals at once, but hey, I love them anyway and "Blooming" is one of my top 3 songs from them 🙂 But I'd also like to recommend another band with brilliant instrumentals and Hal-Ca, probably one of the best young guitarists in the world to you. They are called ASTERISM and are insanely talented at such a young age, please listen to their songs "Dawn" or "Church". Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
I love Band-Maid - all their songs are great or better! I once listened to all of their instrumental tracks back to back repeatedly to figure out which my favorite one was. I failed. 😄
Awesome. Any official live videos with frontwoman Saiki doing her thing will impress. 'Domination' Live is the original fan-maker. One of my favourite studio sounds is the 'Dice' MV and an awesome contemporary rock track is the 'Influencer' MV...beaut location 👌🤘🤘🤘
PRS coming out with the Signature Kanami series guitars was a no brainer Band maid has done music in a few games, Quite a few anime openers and enders a few TV series and blooming was the music for a chase scene in the movie Kate, plus the band themself were performing live on stage in the same movie
Dude.....love the channel.....Im so burned out on reviewers with absolutely no musical background reviewing BM. They have no clue what their hearing !!!! So you are very refreshing !!!!! Please more Band Maid.....they have alot of new videos out !!!!!!
Kanami on lead plays PRS, Miku on rythem plays Zemitas and has a signature, MISA plays black smoker bases and also released her first signature recently
Also black smoker was started by a guy who made guitars under fender in jaspan untill he split off to do his own thing. They make insanely high quality basses at amazing prices for what they are. I got mine a couple years ago through a japanese go between who placed my order for me. They make MISA's custom guitars and I said i want whart she's gpt and they replied "oh, you wnant the misa specail" 3500 well spent lol
It's interesting that the first two videos are 4 1/2 years apart. *"from now on"* is track 1 of the Unleash EP released September 21, 2022. *"onset"* - recorded at Zepp Tokyo April 13, 2018, released as a bonus on the Conqueror album. *"Blooming"* - track 14 on the Conqueror album released December 4, 2019. *"Without Holding Back"* - bonus DVD/Blu-ray on the Unseen World album released January 13, 2021 Band-Maid have released a few anime opening and closing tracks. *"Shambles,"* their most recent video, is the closing theme for Kengan Ashura. *"Different"* is an opening for Log Horizon, and *"Sense"* is the opening for Platinum End. Also, *"YOLO"* is the theme song of the video game Valiant Knights. They also have another instrumental *"Don't Be Long"* as side B of the *"Different"* single. You can find it on the Band-Maid TH-cam channel under the "Releases" tab as track 2 in the "Different" playlist. It doesn't have a music video; just enjoy the cover art as they blow your mind.
You mentioned Marty Friedman and if I remember correctly he was one of Kanami's favorite guitarists and he might even also be a fan of the maids if I recall.
When you mentioned the influences of musicians like these girls, the NAONのYAON festival immediately came to mind, an exclusively female festival, which takes place in Tokyo almost every year. The organizers set aside a segment of the festival to bring the lead guitarists of each band to the stage to play a medley of songs by the artists who have influenced them. Some of these medleys are available on TH-cam, I think some of the songs included might surprise you: Naon no Yaon 2017: th-cam.com/video/d8u9FpqY8UU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mjwtHEL6KA6Nliua Naon no Yaon 2018: th-cam.com/video/KMeOj2_BlZg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dKmA5mMxp--aK06U Cyntia/Mary's Blood 2017: th-cam.com/video/ZtqzkM5bsfA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dZnzUIfw2UF9eoQj
Another Japanese band that might be right up your alley is Asterism. Mainly prog metal instrumentals with outstanding technical abilities and a ton of "feeling."
Great Reaction Content! I think 1st time new reactors should use this sort of format. I'm a Band-Maid to my Bones kinda guy would love to see more of your reactions to them. They're not nearly as well known as they should be and your reacting to them really helps spread the word. As The Maid's sing in their song Unleash, "Dan Dan Di Di Dan Dan" translation meaning Little by Little in an Upward Fashion or Gradually! That being said, another insanely talented 3 piece instrumetal band out of Japan (also currently in their early 20's) worthy of checking out is, "Asterism"! Start with a sond that can be found on TH-cam called , "Dawn" and look for the Live version of it! Then go on to a song called, "Church"! For the 3rd song make it a dealers choice, pick anything you won't be disappointed. Point of Interest; in the Dawn Live video the Guitarist is only 16 years old at the time of filming who had only been playing for six years, having picked up the guitar when she was 10. Plus her Guitar Hero when she started playing was Randy Rhodes, good stuff I promise you.
I purchased the Domination Deluxe CD about 2 years ago and it has a bonus DVD of the Studio Coast concert =) We just watched it last week and its my favorite concert so far ! I haven't seen the newest 3 hour + concert yet ! Nick has done one reaction to ASTERISM "Rising Moon" MV He was very impressed .
A big "Like" for your reactions and also for the Jean-Luc Ponty LP in the back. So you know Allan Holdsworth and Daryl Stuermer, two of some guitarist, who I really admire.
'Blooming' should have been picked up as an anime theme song, but they do have others. 'Glory' was done for Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS, and the very heavy 'Shambles' was commissioned as the season two closing theme for the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura. Also they have a Music Video in anime form for 'Unleashed'.
Thanks for the marathon, I love Band-Maid. I did not realize they had so many instrumentals. Good to hear them just rock out like this. My wish for them is that they find a new producer, someone who can make them sound more "Metal" and less "anime". These instrumentals show how good they truly are.
If you wanna see Band maid absolutely floor the Chicago audience at Lollapalooza '23, check out 2 song clip . note the transition between sons, it where they take off and rule the day. Dice & Hate live. First festival the maids have done in US . Sorry but MORE smiling while while drummer is killing it.
Marathon idea: older live vids to see how good they have been for a long time Real Existence Non-Fiction Days Secret My Lips Moratorium Live vids are best but their MV's are great also

Great musicians....but heard it all before, they need to wear school uniforms to make them look different from other bands!?.......they're OK......the hype is bigger than the band im afraid.
Thanks for the shout out Nick ! This was my first marathon and hopefully not the last =) There are some songs from the seventies you really need to hear as well ! Great Reaction ✌🤘

At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.

The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success.
Miku (Rhythm) plays Zemaitis.
Kanami (Lead) plays PRS, always the ones with the bird inlays. (Except in their older stuff, where she plays Addictone).
Believe it that these ladies can do all these songs live! Band-Maid has over 120 songs, with or without a MV!
I enjoyed your reactions. Shows a real contrast in their styles on music. They can play any style they want. They are that talented and fearless.
4 beautiful examples why these ladies are right with their own words... 👇🏻🔥🤘🏻

I haven’t heard instrumentals as interesting to listen to since the first side of 2112.
🤘 NICE!! I love when people do multiple tracks to check out their music!
Great to see you again!
Enjoyed your thoughts on all of this 😁
🤘😀🤘
You nailed it one of kamami's big influences is Paul Gilbert, also Carlos Santana, and Larry Carlton. Also Ritchie Kotzen.
That was a sick Marathon! I always love to hear Band Maid, but that was my 1st time hearing instrumental by them!
Yeah Akane is a complete beast my friend, in my opinion of course, on the drums. Appreciate the long reaction vid, subbed you, and great choices on the tracks sir. I’m Jeff of The MCU’S Bleeding Edge and I’m a big fan of the Maids.
What an incredible choice of 4 back-to-back songs. Band-Maid is by far my favorite band and have been for years. Thanks for the reaction!
What is interesting about this group is that all the musicians in it are frontmen, they all have solos, and more than one, and at the same time they are synchronized with each other like a mechanism...
Ha, proof, 'Without Holding Back' is the best PO!
Hell yes
I almost stopped my workout before clicking on 34:07 this reaction . I got another 15 minutes in. I can't wait until your next video.
Glad to see you return to the Maids. I’m sure Lex will enjoy these tunes as well. Take care and rock on! 🔥🤘🏼🎸🥁🎤🎹🎶😎✌🏼
Thank you Bob!!
I was at thet Denver show! it was a the summit lol cool venue
never heard of them but they have a pretty good heavy sound and from the view count they must have a following.. thanks Barry!
Guthrie Govan and his band The Aristocrats are the best metal/prog/jazz fusion instrumental band around, glad you dig him and glad you dig Band-Maid too.
Pretty unusual to do 3 Band-Maid instrumentals at once, but hey, I love them anyway and "Blooming" is one of my top 3 songs from them 🙂
But I'd also like to recommend another band with brilliant instrumentals and Hal-Ca, probably one of the best young guitarists in the world to you. They are called ASTERISM and are insanely talented at such a young age, please listen to their songs "Dawn" or "Church".
Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
He has done the "Rising Moon" MV check it out he was very impressed
Check out their April Fools prank they did to the fans. Called Band Maiko. They dress up in kimonos.
I love Band-Maid - all their songs are great or better!
I once listened to all of their instrumental tracks back to back repeatedly to figure out which my favorite one was.
I failed. 😄
Everything in my life is filled with Band-Maid ❤❤❤❤❤
Always up for more Band-Maid! A marathon, thumbs up!
PRS and Zemaitis
Saw them live in Dallas .From Now on was killer
Yes‼️
The groove and high sense of this instrumental is truly rock music. 🎸👍❤ from🇯🇵fan.🤘😆
PRS coming out with the Signature Kanami series guitars was a no brainer
Band maid has done music in a few games, Quite a few anime openers and enders a few TV series and blooming was the music for a chase scene in the movie Kate, plus the band themself were performing live on stage in the same movie
Dude.....love the channel.....Im so burned out on reviewers with absolutely no musical background reviewing BM. They have no clue what their hearing !!!! So you are very refreshing !!!!! Please more Band Maid.....they have alot of new videos out !!!!!!
Thank you for your support my friend! Hope you enjoy the other videos we have, not only on BM but lots of stuff to dive in to if you’re open! :)
*"Without Holding Back"* - bonus DVD/Blu-ray on the Unseen World album released January 13, 2021
Band-Maid have released a few anime opening and closing tracks.
Three of my five favorite Band-Maid songs in one set! 😀
Thanks so much nice program!!!
They have around 130 songs
Closer to 150 now.
I think “Blooming” is one of the 10 best rock-pop songs of the 21st century.
Some of these medleys are available on TH-cam, I think some of the songs included might surprise you:
Naon no Yaon 2017: th-cam.com/video/d8u9FpqY8UU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mjwtHEL6KA6Nliua
Naon no Yaon 2018: th-cam.com/video/KMeOj2_BlZg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dKmA5mMxp--aK06U
Cyntia/Mary's Blood 2017: th-cam.com/video/ZtqzkM5bsfA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dZnzUIfw2UF9eoQj
Another Japanese band that might be right up your alley is Asterism. Mainly prog metal instrumentals with outstanding technical abilities and a ton of "feeling."
Nick has done one reaction to ASTERISM "Rising Moon" MV so far. He was very impressed ! Check it out
Great Reaction Content!
You also asked about the guitars. The rhythm guitarist plays a Zemaitis and the lead guitarist plays a Paul Reed Smith.
F1rst!!!🎉🎉🎉
No clue who this is….
I also like instrumental prog stuff. Band-Maid and Animals as Leaders right now for me are my favorites.
If you wanna see Band maid absolutely floor the Chicago audience at Lollapalooza '23, check out 2 song clip . note the transition between sons, it where they take off and rule the day. Dice & Hate live.
First festival the maids have done in US . Sorry but MORE smiling while while drummer is killing it.
fekkin stunning!
PRS, Zemaitis, Black Cloud
Great choice of songs. I think all 4 are in my Band-Maid top 10.
Marathon idea: older live vids to see how good they have been for a long time
Real Existence
Non-Fiction Days
Secret My Lips
Moratorium
Live vids are best but their MV's are great also
Nice bobbles I have both eras haha that Ponty album is awesome as well
I consider band maid a progressive rock band
These girls play a lot!!! missing from the list..."Turn me On"...
Band-Maid are not just THE best Hard Rock band on Earth but they are indeed often on fire! - th-cam.com/video/m2xPtIvwqUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iUFkXJ-MrA6ek3qu

Great musicians....but heard it all before, they need to wear school uniforms to make them look different from other bands!?.......they're OK......the hype is bigger than the band im afraid.
