My personal favorite is False Prophets by J Cole, but for a more objective “best” rap song of all time, It Was A Good Day is my pick. It really has everything you could want from a rap song.
really feel like there’s no actual answer to it. Every storytelling song is different and something like 90210 is just a completely different lane and would win in that exact lane
'The Message' by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. It was before my time but I think it encapsulates what hip hop/rap is; relaying what your reality is in a way that is true to you. #Timeless
First I’ll give my favourite, then what I think is objectively the best. My personal favourite rap song is The Book Of Soul by Ab-Soul. When I first heard the song a couple years ago I had just lost my girlfriend of 2 years, and had been in and out of the hospital with various health concerns, the worst being COVID which almost took my life. I felt I could relate to herb in the lyrics and his struggles, which also helped me mentally, knowing that I’m not the only one who had been in a similar situation. Now, objectively the best rap song of all time is Sing About Me, I’m Dying Of Thirst. The simple yet brilliant production allows Kendrick’s words to really push through and tell a brilliant story, it’s 12 minutes of musical perfection.
I personally think it can’t be New York State Of Mind because the beat sounds so dated to me and can be hard to fully grasp. Shook ones part 2 takes it for me, but it’s def close
I feel like we need to have a real discussion about Atmosphere’s “The Woman With the Tattooed Hands”. Immaculate Rhymes that tell a awesome story. It’s got a catchy sing song section. If we’re talking “story telling” Atmosphere has to be in the conversation.
it kinda comes down to how good of a case a song has to be “the best” in terms of influence and aging well overall but opinions will wary a bit among “experts” too… certain songs are a given on these types of lists though.
top 5 hip tracks that are the most influential are(acc to me):- 1) f the police 2) shook ones part II 3) C.R.E.A.M 4) The message by grandmaster flash 5) N.Y state of mind. And 5 best hip hop tracks acc to me are:- 1) nuthin but a g thang 2) It was a good day 3) lose yourself 4) Rap God ( crazy lyricism and the mighty flow switched along with the beat and the craziness involved makes it one of the best. Not saying due to hype) 5) lucid dreams( one of the best new school hip hop track)

NY State of Mind and Shook Ones Pt. II are always gonna be my two picks for the best of all time
Great video, I love the matchups this time around and think it’s a lot more fair to some of the classics. Keep up the grind yall much love 🔥
Eminem stan is one of the greatest tracks ever 🔥🔥

Dont forget about 93til Infinity from Souls of Mischief. My favourit Hip Hop Track til this day. It just has everything that i love about Hip Hop. The Flow, Lyricism, the dope sample.
I love that song execpt for one lyric that almost ruins the entire thing
@@leonthethird7494 which?
I don’t know if this is a hot take but I think lose yourself is the best song I’ve ever heard literally gets me in the gym pushing extra sets
A lot of people would agree with you except they are tired of hearing it so much. But it is an amazing motivational song
w choice
Overplayed as hell
SAMIDOT NSAVED MY LIFE AND SAVED THE WORLD
Halftime by Nas is so amazing
What’s crazy is that was actually recorded and dropped in ‘92 so Nas was only 18-19 there.
@@44utuber 17-18*
Exhibit C is not better than sing about me. Both of those songs are in my top ten hip hop songs of all time but SAMIDOT is in my top three. Story telling beat switch message and metaphors are much more stronger than exhibit C
My rankings:
1. On GP by Death Grips
2. Suicidal Thoughts by Notorious B.I.G.
3. Accordion by Madvillainy
4. Mortal Man by Kendrick Lamar
5. Last Call by Kanye West
6. TIRED, NERVOUS AND BROKE by JPEGMAFIA
7. Knees by Injury Reserve
8. Lost Ones by Lauryn Hill
9. Runaway by Kanye West
10. Savior by Kendrick Lamar
11. Hate It Or Love It by The Game
12. JFK by Azealia Banks
13. Saint Pablo by Kanye West
That number 10 gonna make some ppl angry. I do disagree but I think it's an all time Kendricks song along with Father Time, Mother I Sober, Mr Morale and We Cry Together if we're talking about MMATBS.
@@mandem2362 it's ok bro I respect everybody's opinion 🔥those are all amazing songs too
I dislike that list a lot😄 but we all have a different taste so no hate
L for Death Grips
W for Death Grips. My favorite musical group of all time.
No one talking about Control by Sean, Kendrick and Jay Elec. Sean proceeds to drop his hardest verse OAT and then we immediately get one of the greatest rap verses ever from Kendrick. Elec be giving us the philosophical spiritual end verse it’s the easiest 7 minutes to get through. Damn shame they couldn’t clear the sample
Just saw the combined Wu Tang & Nas show at a festival in Manchester and they were AMAZING still. Shame there was no Method Man
I wanted to go so bad to the show in portland but couldn’t make it..
imo:
1. NY State of Mind
2. Shook Ones Pt2
3. CREAM
19:03 paid in full was put down as “pain in full”.
I think Sing About Me and Ambitionz as A ridah are apparently my two favorite hip hop songs and I didn’t know that until I played this game lmao
2pac's Dear Mama gets played at least once everyday in Barbershops around the world. I think that should've been the 2 pac song to put in this debate
This was really fun to watch, i feel like NY Sate of Mind is a great pick, you cant be mad at it.
IMO the best hiphop song is Dance with the devil by Immortal Technique. It's perfectly set up, has lots of layers, and is just overall a masterpiece in storytelling.
It invokes raw emotion like no other song to me, and although it's not a fun/banger song, to me art is under no obligation to be beautiful.
That's song gives me fucking goosebumps everytime I listen to it. The most disturbing song I've ever heard.
@@Anas-vw4pq Even though I checked if the story was actually true not far after hearing it, I still didn't really register it, and it took a few days to try to understand it again.
That song fucking hurts to listen to bro. Amazing choice. Absolutely Incredible

When I talk about the greatest albums and the greatest rappers of all time I can argue those all day. As soon as the greatest song talk starts my brain just explodes hahaha like that’s too much. Idk how to even do that. Hahaha
I think how much a dollar costs is a contender, and so is boy is a gun by Tyler the creator. Till I collapse, spaceship by kanye west, devil in a new dress, straight outta compton, the world is yours by nas, doo wop and lastly figaro by DOOM. Those are off the dome
The story behind how much a dollar cost is incredible and really creative
You all need to talk about Immortal Technique .
Tough question I’m just gonna name songs- It ain’t hard to tell (nas)/ tie my hands (Wayne)/ I ain’t no joke (rakim/e.b)/ devil in a new dress (ye)/ Ronald Reagan era (Kendrick)/ surfin (cudi)/ war (king los)/ walking (Denzel)/ here we go (mac)/ vomit spit (doom)/ jazz (mick Jenkins)/ mainstream (OutKast)
1. NY State Of Mind
2. S.A.M.I.D.O.T.
3. Exhibit C
4. Triumph (Wu-Tang)
5. Mass Appeal- Gangstarr
This is one of the greatest genres of all time, but these 5 are just, immaculate.
Alright by Kendrick lamar.... That's the answer
1. SAMIDOT
2. Runaway
3. Exhibit C
4. NY State Of Mind
5. Stan
my top 5 of the songs y'all listed all of these are 10/10 songs, NY State Of Mind prob has the best rap performance admittedly but I like the other ones more maybe for their overall performances or like SAMIDOT for it's storytelling
My personal favorite is False Prophets by J Cole, but for a more objective “best” rap song of all time, It Was A Good Day is my pick. It really has everything you could want from a rap song.
i think that today was a good day's best part by far is the instrumental, the rest is pretty good but not all time good.
1. Shook ones pt 2 by mobb deep
2. Swimming pools by kendrick lamar
3. NY State Of Mind by Nas
4. Juicy by Biggie
5. Straight Outta Compton by NWA
Sing about me I’m dying of thirst.
My top 5:
1. All Falls Down
2. Wesley’s Theory
3. 90210
4. Through The Wire
5. Pride
really feel like there’s no actual answer to it. Every storytelling song is different and something like 90210 is just a completely different lane and would win in that exact lane
Great vid guys - thoroughly enjoyed!
From all of these, I have to go with Shook Ones, Pt. II
Exhibit C single handedly put Jay Elec in conversations he didn't belong in
Exhibit C over runaway, Stan, and sing about me is crazy 💀💀💀💀
My top 5:
1. Eminem - Lose Yourself.
2 Tupac - Changes.
3. Nas - N.Y. State of Mind.
4. Mobb Deep Shook ones part 2.
5. Coolio - Gangster paradise.
'The Message' by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. It was before my time but I think it encapsulates what hip hop/rap is; relaying what your reality is in a way that is true to you. #Timeless
Agreed
My vote goes to Tuscan leather. Runners up would be notorious thugs, drug ballad, can I live (jay z) and sing about me I'm dying
WHO HAS A PLAYLIST WITH ALL THESE SONGS? my spotify Playlists are all over the place🙆🏿♂️
I just made a playlist with all these tracks cuzza this video lol
@@yapha3284 please post the link so I can follow your Playlist
Many Men (Wish Death) , Slippin’ , Dear Mama, Shook Ones pt.2, Where I’m From .
love ur content guys, but stan over runaway is crazy imo..
The point of this list is saying Nas is timeless and one of the greatest to every to touch a microphone and his catalog is hip hop top tier
International Players Anthem and it’s not even close
I feel like we need to have a real discussion about Atmosphere’s “The Woman With the Tattooed Hands”. Immaculate Rhymes that tell a awesome story. It’s got a catchy sing song section. If we’re talking “story telling” Atmosphere has to be in the conversation.
NaS is pure poet
Greatest of all time
Facts
19:50 That voice crack was nasty 22:20 too🤣
Its literally impossible to tell the " Best rap song of all time ".
but it's a fun converstation to have and there are objective elements to it.
@@leonthethird7494 True.
it kinda comes down to how good of a case a song has to be “the best” in terms of influence and aging well overall but opinions will wary a bit among “experts” too… certain songs are a given on these types of lists though.
top 5 hip tracks that are the most influential are(acc to me):-
1) f the police
2) shook ones part II
3) C.R.E.A.M
4) The message by grandmaster flash
5) N.Y state of mind.
And 5 best hip hop tracks acc to me are:-
1) nuthin but a g thang
2) It was a good day
3) lose yourself
4) Rap God ( crazy lyricism and the mighty flow switched along with the beat and the craziness involved makes it one of the best. Not saying due to hype)
5) lucid dreams( one of the best new school hip hop track)
