there are websites that are specifically made to distribute for “free for commercial use” images, look into some of those. the creators name is almost always featured next to the images so check if they’ve stated anywhere that they want to be credited.
if you are ever unsure of an images fair use status, try contacting the creator and ask them for permission to use the image. always do your research before using an image for commercial use, otherwise you risk getting a bad rep or even getting sued.

This is an info advert to promote their image system. There's a bunch of places that offer images....some free. ALL have legalities that you will have to learn. Also you should get a business license with an LLC. AND get insurance. That will protect you from lawsuit and only the business can incrue limited financial suits.
Most cities have business groups to help you. You also want to copyright anything unique to protect your work from theft.
So if you want to be safe you have a lot of research to do. Yep to be safe you'll likely have to study, read and make notes. Sure play around but if you want safety you'll have to learn and understand.
Watch a lot of videos. You will slowly begin to understand and see what options you have. Save your $ cause you'll need it. In the meantime play around with your ideas so you'll be ready to publish.

Hi, just a small question: I draw a lot and I wanted to make a design for a friend who wants to start a company. I started to look for inspiration and i "Accidentally" drew a part of someone's (google image) design in it. Do I still need to ask for permission? (Let me explain it more: It is a drawing of an animal: A rabbit, specifically. And I copied the outer form of the animal.)

Wonderful video! Very informative and straight forward as you can make it, for such a complicated subject. My issue is that the terms weren't quite specific enough to make me clear about my particular situation, so I have a question. I'm an artist whose work consists of a fair amount of fan artwork. So, my archive of artwork is lots of other creator's characters reinterpreted in my drawings. Would using my artwork on business cards be seen as copyright infringement because of the other creator's characters?

Have them sign a release before you draw their characters or retroactively ask them to sign a release.

All of the artists who created those images have been dead for centuries, however, the images have been used in republished editions of the manuscript in a modern book form several times. Big thanks to you for that useful information! 👍👍 I wonder, big media sites have the right to use rss feed content 1:1 many doing it and not got one google or copyright sue from the owners.
But I not have this right - is this democratic? Ok, I must ask you can I use the image from import rss feed to doing content curation, or only a part of it, or must I twist the image a little bit (color, brightness, mix with another image, etc, etc) to have the right to use it ? Only for content curation the right way- means linking back to the origin source.
What is with embedding youtube videos in my website and write about it - with link back to the origin? Or with all, rss feeds import, do I need always first the permission of the image/ video creator?

I want to do commentary over the images( which will be from stock photos), would this be possible? Good Day@@VismeApp
Your video is very informative, highly appreciated. Anyway I bought 5yards of fabric from Online store, it has cute graphic illustration and I plan to make kids skirt out of that fabric.
I knew some basic photoshop and even make my own design, it just that I was fond and obsessed on that "fabric print design". Now I plan to use the graphic image from "fabric print" and apply it on t-shirt ONLY as a partner on a "certain skirt" AND HAVE NO PLAN TO USE IT ON MY ENTIRE PRODUCT.
As I mention above I bought the printed fabric from online store but the graphic illustration was owned and design by different artist and I found selling the graphic illustration on ETSY worth P808. 93 ($14.23).
Since I bought that printed fabric already, may I ask if do I have the RIGHT to apply the graphic image on t-shirt for COMMERCIAL USE for a minimal quantity only since I'll going to start just a small business for a moment which is not more than 15pieces of t-shirt? do I have the RIGHT or it consider as ILLEGAL?
I first inquire through your email at support@visme.com but your agent gave me an irrelevant and vauge answer so I end up of NOTHING. At this point I fervently hope you'll give me SPECIFIC and DIRECT ANSWER.
I was just asking because I'm afraid that the original creator might sue me once he/she saw my output with his/her design on the top of skirt selling it to the market.
Looking forward on your keen response.
      Thank You and Godbless.

Imaginary hi-five to anyone who answers this
Question 1: someone takes a song from a movie, and does a cover of it. They take still scenes from the movie, trace them into a comic book style illustration, heavily altered, like literally line drawings with coloring that are tracings, and puts it in the video. To top it off they even say "original song by (artist name)" giving credit to the artist... They post it on youtube without selling it anywhere. Just fan art. Like deviantart... is that ok?
Question 2: in said video, they turn on youtube adverts that pay them per view. Is it still ok?
Question 3: this person sells their own original content lets say through an online print shop or t shirt logos etc. If they simply advertise their own works in the video description ("check out my merch!"), While it is unrelated to the movie still or song cover... Is that ok?
Im lost because there is a lot on youtube, lots of people doing cover songs or even recording longplays of a videogame and I bet a lot of them advertise their own works in the description. Anyone who can help, like I said. Hi fives for free all day. Leo Moraccioli is an example who has covered every damn song in the world. The same with videogame musicians. Theyre covering copywritten works, with youtube advertising. Sooooo I dont get it.
TL;DR: If youre not directly selling content related to copywritten work, but using your fan art posted on youtube to advertise your OWN original work and also using youtbe adverts in your fan video, is this ok?

Hello, thanks for the great video. I need to use some photos from Pinterest to teach and explain some interior styles on my TH-cam channel or sometimes to criticize. How do I figure out if the photos I am going to use are copyrighted or not and how can I gain the permission to publish on my channel . I see most of the interior design bloggers are using photos on their channels and they don't give credits to any of them in their comment section. Could you please explain how?

Absolutely not dependent on who had the "idea". Only the design (or music) itself can be protected by copyrighted, not an idea. Also generally not dependent on who took (photographed) the image. Sorry but your information is in part inaccurate. Incidentally, minor variations of a an image has held up on court as not being a violation of another otherwise similar image.

It still all very confusing and unless you're a Copyright Lawyer, it's VERY easy to screw up and get yourself in hot water. Case in point, let's say I find a photo of a 1920's Silent Film era movie star. Originally the photo was created before 1928, so it should technically be in public domain now right? But wait...the ONLY photo I can find of her is from a newspaper article from overseas dated 2017. Where do I stand with it now? The original photo yes is from almost 100 years ago, but doesn't the newspaper now hold Copyright rights on the photo in the newspaper? I'm very confused....*sigh*
