    • @Joesge

      @@Joesge thank you for the reply Joe, I did manage to find out the following information:
      if the drive isn't working due to lens, for example can not read discs, then no soldering is required, as you're able to unscrew the motor and move the motor and board to the new drive.
      if its the motor that has broken which seems to hardly happen, the soldering is required.

      Update: I followed the steps in this video and opened up the disc drive on the series x and I did the same on the Xbox one s. Instead of soldering off the bit, I unscrewed (3 screws) the piece underneath which contained the laser lens and moved that whole piece from the xbox one s into the series x and vice versa, clipped everything back on and presto it worked! The series x is playing discs again!

      @@Joesge thank you for actually taking up your time to give me your respected opinion… anything between cars and Electronics I rebuild or build lol.
      I forgot my 2nd Cuzin works in Xbox’s hardware support team so I asked her and I actually got the same answer I was thinking that you also verified !
      -So basically this is how it works… if your an Xbox insider you will experience more updates and specifically custom updates that can range anywhere in your consoles hardware! I lowered myself down to Omega so I won’t get to experience future consoles OS releases, just basic updates like a general Xbox owner!
      -So after removing my DISC SRIVE and put my console back together and started it up, the series X didn’t even give me an error despite every time you turn on your console you hear your disc try manually moving making sure it’s functioning properly, well this time I didn’t lol.
      Console starts up with NO Error code or any issues. I did have a small OS update and for some odd reason despite not detecting all its factory hardware (disc drive) it didn’t care and completed the update!!!!!
      I know this sounds stupid removing the drive but I’ve never used it once and whenever playing COD or Halo the console gets pretty HOT, so why have more hardware that runs in the background giving off more Heat? lol
      After removing it I have even more airflow. Specifically that goes directly straight up to the power source since the disc drive WAS below it AND DAMN BRO, what a DIFFERENCE!
      -My series X is running 9-16F COOLER!!! Deff was worth it, whole point I did it was to increase the consoles lifespan considering these consoles reach up to 135-140F averagely.
      Not to mention it only takes 4 screws total and two simple wire harnesses to unplug the disc drive and it doesn’t even ban the warranty lmao

    • @Joesge
      @Joesge  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes so follow this tutorial to remove the Disc drive. Once you have it out, there are 4 small Philips screws that you can unscrew to open the disc drive. That should give you an angle to remove any junk. If you need more room, you can also unscrew the daughter board inside the disc drive to get more access to the disc drive.

    Why don't you just replace the entire disc drive? Lol seems unnecessary to do all that work

      You have to replace the daughter board because it is paired to your console. The disc drive will not work without replacing the daughter board
