    hi steve here from scotland, not sure if it was edited in your video some people forget to let the burner bloom, some soap/dishwasher liquid wiped on the bottom of your pans will help when it comes to cleaning the soot off them. Look forward to your next couple of cooking vids.

    Good for you. That was a really good first video. I love cooking outdoors and use gas, spirit and wood, but if I could only have one, it would have to be the trangia. You can take it anywhere and it always works. It's a complete system.
    Couple of tips if you are new to the Trangia. I only remove the strap on one side, that way it stays attached and doesn't get lost. The base never gets so hot it's a problem. Second, the bottom of the pan always get sooty but after you have finished cooking and it's cool, give them a quick wipe on the grass. Damp grass is very effective to clean soot. Leaves a black mark on the grass so you might not want to do that on your lovely lawn 😁

    Hello from Florida USA. THIS WAS MY 1ST TIME SEEING YOUR VIDEOS so I didn't realize it was YOUR 1ST VIDEO TOO. I think you did a FULL-ON THUMBS UP JOB OF IT. I am a huge fan of all things Trangia, the 25T, 27T, 28T kits. I own them all. Love to cook full-on large with them rather than the boil water and add mixes style of cooking. So it was nice to see you cooking a real breakfast in your 1st video! I camp, kayak, fishing, hike, bass boating, and moto-scooter day outings. At least one of my Trangia kits is always at-the-ready with me. I would guess many of your future viewers will have similar interests. Good video and blessings to grow your channel!

      Yes … Trangia all the way 100% Traniginian. #27 with additional #25 and Mini frypan and for when there are extra mouths to feed.
      I suggest the gas burner as it allows you to have more regulation of heat. Keep up the camp cooking coming!!!

    Well done on your first posting .. and may your Trangia give you much pleasure 😊.
    A tip, if I may please?
    Cut a circular piece of heat-resistant silicon mat to fit snugly inside the pan. This will afford additional protection for the pan non-stick surface during storage and can also be used to set down hot pans on 'heat-sensitive' surfaces.
    Yep, no pepper .. a 'rookie' mistake usually not repeated 😏.

    Hi from Australia. Thanks for the video - enjoy your camping and Trangia.
    One suggestion - the flame on your Trangia looks quite yellow and sooty. If you read the "fine print" on the yellow Trangia bag the burner comes in, they recommend adding 10% water to the fuel. This helps a lot (I have tried it) and doesn't effect the fuel too much unless you are getting toward freezing temperatures. The quality of the fuel does however vary between brands and countries.

      What fuel were you burning? I find that denatured alcohol from the paint section to be best. Look out for stuff labeled “clean burning fuel for use in marine stoves”. Also you may have access to a product called heet from the automotive section. Be sure to use the stuff in the YELLOW bottle. The other colors contain a different ingredient.

    Nice video. I've been using the trangia for about 40 years now. Most of your other viewers have mentioned the best tips re strap etc.
    Get the multidisc. It is a frypan protector, sieve, rest and chopping board in one.
    I don't use the water mix unless using meths. If you use good bioethanol there is hardly any soot. The only non trangia part I have replaced is the simmer ring. The esbit simmer ring and other clones have wee handles on the simmer ring which makes it easier to use. I wish trangia would do the same.

    This looks like a perfect meal to start the day when you are out camping in the wild (or just staying at home:). Easy to prepare and tasty. My favourite adding when I am cooking an omelette in the wild is chorizo sausage (a Spanish sausage popular in Norway). It is full of flavour and fat for a vigorous day outdoors:)

    I am often tempted by the neat fuel bottles, but at the end of the day, they’re extra weight and expense while a common water bottle weighs and costs next to nothing and can be discarded when empty so it does not take up space or used for something else … oh - and small thing if it’s windy, don’t elevate the stand off the ground - the wind will make the fuel burn way faster and may make the flame jump around the place, with the gusts even underneath the burner when the bloom is up ….

The fuel tends to come in its own plastic bottle, of course but it’s more bulky and transferring it meant I could save a few additional grams. Just remember Trangia recommend that the strap is secured on the Side of the unit to reduce the chance of impact damage to the fry pan from above, also for safety the also recommend lighting the burner before placing the the top windshield on, likewise to extinguish the burner remove the top section first before placing the simmer on the flame, no drama and saves messing about trying to get the simmer

    • @thebackyardcamper1268
      @thebackyardcamper1268  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it’s totally feasible and while I’ve not done it with my Trangia, I’ve done it with my version of a BushBox stove. I purchased a Keith titanium rice cooker and it has 2 pots that nestle together like a double-walled cooking system. I think it helped with the better turnout of rice, but I’ve used just a regular billy pot as well. I’m not great a cooking rice even at home hence the purchase of the special camping cooker by Keith 😂. Let me know how it goes. Definitely just try cooking with whatever you have…if it isn’t perfect the first time (been there) you make tweaks that end up working. 😊

    I love your videos even though it's so simple. Thanks a lot for sharing! I hope to see more of your cooking-with-Trangia videos because I have also just bought mine and can't wait to try cooking in it. Is yours from the Trangia 27 series? Please make more videos, I can't wait to see more of your recipes :-) Ps: I also love the ramen video; you eating at the end was so satisfying to see! Nadiah X

    I like to add the cheese earlier so that it melts more and, although a bit of egg snot never hurt anybody, I like to flip my omelettes.

    Hi Rachel,
    I've watched all your videos now. Keep going with them, they are good. Have you checked out the videos made by " Simon, a bloke in the woods "
    He is one of my fellow countrymen, here in the UK.
    One other question, have you tried a Kelly Kettle yet ?

      Thanks so much for the feedback and kindness, Brian ☺️. I do have a Kelly Kettle and love it…I have that and quite a few other things ready to use for videos so stay tuned 😉
      Yes I definitely have watched Simon’s channel a lot…brilliant. I am subscribed to quite a few UK camping/bushcraft channels. I would love to come back there and shoot some videos…maybe after this craziness is settled down ☺️
      I appreciate your comments and time watching ❤️

    No disrespect but I have Trangia mini and Trangia 27 great for outdoors, but being honest for breakfast easier to go Golden Arches for brekkie

    Try the Trangia with a gas burner ! Much faster and you do not need to carry much fuel = less weight !

    • @BrokenBackMountains
      @BrokenBackMountains 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just make sure you get a decent one. I melted the top windshield on my 27 with a cheap gas burner. It was too powerful. The official trangia ones are throttled back.
      Luckily all parts are replaceable. I also have tried the edelrid hexon stove in my 27 with no problems. Just do not try the gosystems burner. It will destroy the stove.
