0:20:45 I'm considering HSCT since my options are quite limited. Can you give your thoughts on HSCT?
0:22:59 Should we be taking more or anything for our eyes and brain or memory?
00:24:53 What are possible factors that are thought to contribute to MS? And does it run in families?
0:27:54 Do you have any recommendations as far as levels and amounts of Vitamin D? Or should they see their physician first?
0:28:30 Do you think there's any validity to inflammatory type diets and disease progression?
0:29:36 Talk to us a little bit about clinical trials and some of the things that happen here at UChicago Medicine in that realm. How important is that for MS patients?
0:31:45 Tell us a little bit about the MS clinic, and what patients can expect when they come to UChicago Medicine's MS clinic.

I am 78 and have MS. I was diagnosed about a month ago by a neurologist ordering an MRI. I had been to doctors very often and had 33 surgeries, mostly intestinal. I had a pseudo-tumor of the eye orbits. The mri showed I most likely had MS for 4 or 5 decades, but none of my doctors sent me to get an mri . One doctor did say I had signs of pre-ms. Shouldn’t doctors be made more aware of these symptoms so we could get treatment sooner? Also I had 9 pregnancies, 5 children, 4 miscarriages.

I have no idea what he is talking about with symptoms lasting 2-3 weeks and then going away... maybe in the best of ms cases, but while they wax and wane, my experience is anything but that. The fatigue is almost daily. The pain does rotate but keeps coming back, some days not too bad, other days very bad.

He meant they last for 2-3 weeks, go away, and come come back. It also relates to the lesions in the brain where he talks about the permanent lesions being black. Some damage will be irreversible and permanent whilst others not.

Primary Care doctor says I do not have MS or Parkinsonism. He is sure I have Fibromyalgia. I saw a Neurologist who has ordered scores of blood tests, EMG, Brain MRI, PET Scan of my brain, MovementDisorder consults with Specialists, Lumbar Puncture, mid back/ spine MRI.NOT ALL reports have been received yet. My symptoms continue to progress over the years: movement disorder/ gait issues, loss of balance, veering right, left or backwards has now been almost daily, multiple times, cognitive differences, word retrieval issues, long and shorty term memory issues, bladder and bowel issues, (incontinence urgency progressive over 9 years, constipation/ diarrhea), headaches, bruxism, sleep apnea, clinical depression, anxiety. What do you think?

    Hi
I would like to know why we don't see more research with foods and supplements, once we can find in Pubmed, basic research about MS, in animal models, etc. , still without scientific foundation, but that deserves trials in humans, once are foods and natural supplements, that can have side effects, but under medical supervision, in controlled trials. the doctors can do safe research, (and randomized double blind) i with ginger, genistein ( or even soy), curcumin, etc.
(in the site of Pubmed or even in Google, when we do some search with the words multiple sclerosis and ginger, or genistein and multiple sclerosis, or curcumin and MS, or Boswellia Serrata and multiple sclerosis, we can find the research articles.
But all these supplements can have antiplatelets mechanisms, and can causes coagulation disorders, between others side effects.
Please, this is not a prescription and in no way a suggestion to use such things.
It is only a question to the doctors of this channel.
Do not takes none supplements, once all can cause side effects and have interactions with medicine drugs that the patient is taking , etc.
No one never would try to treat so serious disease as multiple sclerosis with such foods or supplements without medical supervision and prescription.
Only the doctor of the patient can gives the prescription of foods, supplements and drugs to patients with any disease, and mainly MS.
