    @ThatsNotVeryFunnyLol 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is a tough one for me. Obviously the test pipes are like a 3rd of the price or so. They sound pretty similar as well. but the Headers definitely have a more refined sound and sound clearer.

    • @jtggaming4513
      @jtggaming4513 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although the test pipes are cheaper, if you plan on getting short headers in the long run it’s about the same price if you just get long tube headers and not have to purchase test pipes, obviously depending on the pipes and headers the price will vary to either side

  • @Chev_chevo

    • @thecarizon504

      Still long tube headers because I am chasing performance. Long tube headers are lighter than the stock headers and have greater peak horsepower numbers.
      However, I would recommend test pipes to most people because they are cheaper and I think sound better.

    The question I have involves not sound but performance difference between the two, which I know you touched on toward the end of your video. I currently have Tomei Expreme headers in my track-dedicated 350Z coupled with high-flow cats and aftermarket dual exhaust. I am considering changing to long-tube headers, either RSI or PPE. However, to save cost, and since my Tomei headers are quality, I wonder how close to long-tube headers I could get by keeping my Tomei and adding a y-pipe and test pipe. Can anyone comment?

    I know this video is old but what is your suspension/tire set up? Yours does so well in the rain and mine feels sketchy asf. BC coils, spl camber and control arms and spl toe bolts. Nitto 555 G2 255 40 18 Nitto 555G2 295 40 18.

    Can you still install the O² sensors on the long tubes? I have a G35X, I was saving up to get a 370z because I want another Z. But I'm now considering getting an Infiniti M45 VK45DE V8 or even better M56 VK56DE 5.6 liter V8! Both sedans can push over 500hp with just FBO, get a tune and they can push upwards 600hp!
    My other option is my friends father has a badass 300zxTT. That was my 1st car, so I have a fondness for those Z's. His has been blueprinted, port & polished heads, throttle bodies, upgraded turbos & injectors, full exhaust, underdrive pulley, CAI, has the NA diff which has better gearing and no HICAS, stage 3 racing clutch, HKS blow off valve, turbo timer, etc. It's around the 750ish hp range. Or at least it was 12yrs ago when he last dyno'd it. It's pretty much been sitting for that long wasting away. He couldn't ever get it to pass inspection back then. But it should only be safety now that it's older, it's a 95. It just needs a lot of tlc and a whole new suspension as well as some updated parts. I think I can get it for under 7k.
    I also noticed that you're in McKinney, Tx. Crazy that's where that 300zx is at. I actually went to MHS 9-11 grade until I moved back to Dallas. I'm in Denison now,
    I'd be interested in those test pipes but I doubt they'd fit my VQ35. I love my G35x but it's no Z. By this time next yr I will have a M45 or M56 for sure. They are definitely sleepers and rarer to see on the road. Everyone is into the Q50 or Q60. I figure I could go the swap route, but it's too much of a headache. I'll just sell my G35X or give it to my girl instead. Anyways it's cool that you live in McKinney. I'll give you a sub for sure to watch your progress on your build. Take it easy...

      @@thecarizon504 I have stock headers fi test pipes and magnaflow exhaust and the rasp or hiss on the rpm decline sounds so bad. I watched the pipes when the make the sound and they vibrate very bad

    For anyone looking for LTH (I know my reply is 3 years later lol) but Fast Intentions are the WORST long tubes you can get. Get PPE Engineering equal-lengths if you want the absolute best headers. Or ISR long tubes for a budget half-equal length option.

    @KyleAnthony92 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Call me stupid if this is. But wouldn't having shorty headers in combination with test pipes be a better comparison to LTH's? Js I feel like the you can get a pair of test for a couple hundred bucks, not getting no LTH's for anything close to that.

    Not even a fair comparison. The Test pipes are resonated while the long tube headers are not, so you're comparing oranges and apples :/

    • @thecarizon504
      @thecarizon504  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering how similar they sound, I'm doubtful that non-resonated would sound much different. It's difficult to give a fair comparison at all as you have to use the exact same location, rev the car the same, etc.

      Base model: 31k
      Used Akebono Brakes: $700
      Nismo Bumpers + Paint: ~$1500
      Used Coilovers: $500
      FI Exhaust: ~$3k
      Comes out to 36.5k or so, still 5 grand cheaper than the "real thing" and I have an arguably better suspension and exhaust setup depending on what your looking for.
