    Thank you so much for this video. I've been afraid to try to make a rope basket but this video explained everything so perfectly including everything I would need to make one. I'll be ordering some rope today so I can try it.

    I have tried this, using the rope, needles, designs, and stabilizer recommended. It has been a nightmare of thread breaks and needle breaks.

      Same here! I suffered through the project but literally broke 10 needles! i started with 75/11 organ and so many broke I switched to 80/12 and they seemed to work better although one or two of them broke also! So frustrating but its finished!!

    I made 4 coasters and the embroidery designs that I purchased from EL. They came out perfect. The last 2 started breaking needles. #5 started breaking at the end of the design. #6 immediately started breaking needles. I think that the problem is that I did the last ones too tight as the needle seems to be "bouncing" off the rope. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    I can’t wait to try this. My only question is with the thickness of the rope, do you have to adjust your tension? It looked like you had a brother and I have the Luminaire, will I need to adjust the tension?

    How big is the hoop you need to do this design on an embroidery machine? I have a Baby Lock Flare.

    • @EmbroideryLibraryEL
      @EmbroideryLibraryEL  ปีที่แล้ว

      The hoop would need to be big enough to fit the embroidery you wish to do. Larger hoops are better, since you will be able to better stabilize the rope base.

    I found that when I do embroidery on this project, I get valleys where the embroidery goes and makes it no lay flat. Ideas?

      Please reach out to support@emblibrary.com with photos of your project along with information about the rope, needle, thread, and stabilizer you are using. It is also helpful to know if you are using temporary spray adhesive and a basting stitch.

    Yep…broken 3 needles so far…not worth the trouble…switching over to putting the embroidery on a piece of fabric and I’ll attach it inside the bowl. The problem area for my ‘experiment’ of trying to make this bowl, is that every time my Bernina moves to a new spot, it it’s ‘just past’ the end of the rope edge, the foot catches and it’s lights out for the needle ( not to mention what the sudden jam up might be doing to my machine calibration! ). It happens to fast for this old lady to catch it before it happens and I KNOW the spots where it’s going to do it 😬😖 So, until they come up with a much better method that takes that ‘out of bounds needle movement’ into account, I’ll say ‘wow! It looks really cool embroidered right onto the rope bowl’, but I’ll know it’s magic and not something I can attain 🤣

    Is your bobbin thread the same a top for the embroidery design or something else? Thanks

    • @EmbroideryLibraryEL
      @EmbroideryLibraryEL  ปีที่แล้ว

      For a cleaner look we recommend either matching your bobbin, or using cork or felt as a bottom cover.

    The rope suggested has a synthetic core making it unsuitable for using the finished projects as trivets or coasters for hot items. Plus the rope is not made in the USA.

    Can any electric sewing machine be used for this project?

    • @EmbroideryLibraryEL
      @EmbroideryLibraryEL  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use a sewing machine for the rope bowl portion, but you wouldn't be able to use the embroidery designs.

  • @TheDiane48
    @TheDiane48 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What model embroidery machine did you use?

    • @EmbroideryLibraryEL
      @EmbroideryLibraryEL  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We have multiple machines. When making rope bowls, we use our small brother sewing machine. For embroidering the bowls we have used a Brother Luminaire and a Babylock Destiny.

      @@EmbroideryLibraryELDo you adjust the tension on the Lumi for the thickness of the rope? I have one as well, and sometimes the thickness creates a problem and I break needles. I’ve bought many designs from you guys and would love to do this.
