  • welcome back to my annotation series! today we're taking a look at the "full monty" method from my original annotation video. i don't recommend using this method all the time, but if you really want to commit to a book (perhaps on a reread?) give this a try! basically, write notes, question, highlight, tab, and summarize! this method is great for classic literature you want to analyze and probably works wonders for schoolwork. you might want to use a separate pen/color for passages pointed out in class or comments your professor & classmates make! if you decide to try out this method, let me know how it goes! and as always, leave video suggestions in the comments. thanks for watching and for all the love and support! i love reading your comments ❤️

Hi Li, can you make a video on how to increase your vocabulary by reading? Sometimes I come across difficult books with a lot of words I'm not familiar with and it's frustrating lol

hello, it's sofiia from Goodreads! i really enjoy watching your channel, you are a really comfy booktuber. i have quite another method to anotate/write my thoughts; i highlight all interesting quotes as usual in a book, however then i write down my thoughts about these quotes/characters/events in Notion and i use it both in fiction and nonfiction!

i love the creative ways people use notion! i've always flirted with the idea of making my book notebook/annotations digital, but i can't seem to part with my analog ways... i also tend to forget about all the notion set-ups i make!! i'm thrilled it works for you and its probably much more convenient to have it all centralized! and yay!! i'm a "comfy booktuber." that was a life goal i didn't know i had until you said it

I probably should start annotating but if I like the book I just run thru the book without remembering to annotate😭

nah it's totally not necessary! i suggest writing your thoughts after finishing. no need to interrupt your flow! (or maybe annotate on a re-read)

I use to annotate intriguing words, exceptionally witty thoughts and the spots of plotwists. By using a pencil and drawing a little fully filled circle beside the particular line or paragraph. Have to confess that I am a nervous wreck about making my literary darlings look too loved. But I guess the main issue is that after reading a book I am just too hasty to move on to the next one and too lazy to reminisce the previous. Movies are in turn so easy because after watching them your mind effortlessly starts the reruns.

i wonder if my annotations go to waste unless i reread the book--that's why i really like to keep a journal of my thoughts! i might start switching over to the journal more. at the end of the day, whatever helps you enjoy what you read more (and read more!) i don't annotate my most beautiful books either--i like to admire them!
