      I think that it could also come as a trim/model of an electric or hybrid challenger or one that is more comfort focused. but I love the idea of lighter and more agile challenger and maybe no backseats?

      Marspeed If they are not bringing the Viper back they should replace it with the barracuda and keep it a two seater only, like an American version of the Ferrari 812 superfast, they already talked about putting a V8 inside the Viper if they decide to bring it back, but why not just replace it with the barracuda(if they are going to do that), The Viber is known for its v10 so why make it a v8.

    It's really cool that the metalcrafters wanted to encourage Chrysler to bring it back so badly, that they built a concept to show the possibilities. I thought that you said they used a carbon fiber body to build it, if so you know it's quick with that 6.1 as light as it would be. It would be awesome if they made a smaller platform than Challenger, and would be cool to see it compete in some of the events with Ford and GM

    • @jerodwolford2743
      @jerodwolford2743 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It wouldn't be hard to make the challenger compete as in both the Cuda and the challenger would be the same exact car cause thats how it was in the 70s. The challenger I do believe is still in the trans am series. I mean look at the redeye, dodge wouldn't make a new rendition of the challenger unless they really did something to it and it only makes an extra 90 horsepower and thats because they heavily modified the suspension. The challenger can already turn pretty damn well for a 4400 pound car and they made it turn better. If they apply this technology to the next gen challenger and chargers when they finally get a brand new lighter frame, it would compete with the mustang and camaro HOWEVER, it would loose its muscle credibility. At that point its just a sports car. What I could see on the other hand would be a new coronet, it'd be like the 2 door charger everybody wants, which is ironically the challenger, except it'll compete with the mustang and camaro with corners. But what are the odds itd actually sell though. Thats the problem.

    • @deeptoot1453
      @deeptoot1453 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sincerely hope not, if it were we would lose yet another classic muscle car. The challenger (and arguably the charger) are the only muscle cars left. The camaro and the mustang are a joke, there's nothing muscle about them anymore besides maybe their big engines.

    • @nicholascortez728

      A cuda (a coupe) wouldn't compete with the charger (sedan). It would just be a chalanger with a different face, I could maybe see it if Plymouth was still around but the market isn't big enough for two cars from the same division that are fundamentally identical.

      The 300, Challenger, and Charger are on their last legs anyway, with no plans for a replacement, due to their age (the LX Platform is on its 16th Model Year) and the ever-diminishing sales.

    I'd rather have them do a Dart(A body) do over. Cudas are too much like a Challenger, so there isn't enough differences in body styles to justify the effort that would go into producing such a car.
    Dodge Darts were boxier, and have a more distinctive look that would sell, especially if they were lighter, much like their original counterparts.

My dream scenario is dodge using the duster name (or bring back the dart) on a two door coupe with a hatchback a bit smaller than challenger, with a turbo 4, inline 6, and v8 options. Chrysler is working more towards hybrid power and ev stuff, they could do their version and emphasize electric power and some hybrid performance tech, differ the styling and call it conquest or laser. I think MOPAR is on the way out, and it started when the sold out to FIAT. Fiat wanted to get their foot in the door to,sell,their cars in the US. They cut out a lot of models, and will keep doing so. It would be nice to get the CUDA back, in a 69 fast back model. But I'm sure they would screw it up like the 4 door charger.

    • @moparyota
      @moparyota 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're "one of those" I see. I never understand those that think fiat is to blame for anything. Current Chrysler products may be getting a bit long in the tooth, but the quality has easily doubled since Chrysler freed itself from Daimler. I also dont understand those that insist on moaning about the number of doors the charger has. The charger has been a constantly evolving and changing nameplate since it was introduced in 1966. From being a genuine muscle car (66-72), to a more luxury oriented cruiser (74-78), to a front wheel driver 4 cylinder hatchback in the 80s, to a badass, practical V8 sedan that you can actually fit multiple people in to enjoy 700hp fun. Not to mention the charger still sells very well, and has been sold as a 4 door for 15 years now (and will continue to do so), and it was only offered as a 2 door for 13 model years. It's not the 60's anymore, move on. Go buy an old Charger if you can afford one and stop complaing.

      Hey I love MOPAR, That is the only cars I have been driving, since I have my license in 1970. But some of the things I see what Fiat has done, all I see is it's been going down hill. Just look at the quality of their cars they have been selling the 500L. I hope they will stay afloat, if not I'll be walking, and I'm getting too old for that.

    It would be great if Chrysler revived that model . it was more popular than the challenger back in the early 70s . If Chrysler gives it the "green light "with retro styling of the 70 -74 ,it would be a "slam dunk

Im not sure if Dodge would consider a limited, special edition “Cuda” thats just a Challenger with different from and rear Fascias. They could give it exclusive paint options, a retuned 5.7L hemi and some weight reduction.

    I think the best way to address this is by involving an outside company to build a cuda using the challenger platform similar to the Mr. Norm Cudas. Just offer with specs not available with the Challenger, like maybe a base model with a supercharged Pentastar engine and a hipo model with the bigger hemi, etc. Maybe only offer as manuals, etc.

    So Hot take...
    With the Challenger and Charger being phased out in the next few years, dodge could use the chassis and drivetrain to bring back the Barracuda as a entry level placeholder model until the new challenger and Charger are ready. I basically see the Barracuda being a cheaper "fastback" version of the current Challanger, with the same 5.7 Hemi that was in the RT model. Basically a RT rebody.
    I could also see Dodge rolling out the Barracuda with the new inline 6 motor everyone has been talking about. That much push the price up or down depending on the power figure as I could see a situation where the Inline 6, plus some hybrid gizmos could be more powerful than the Hemi. We'll see.

    First thing, it needs to come out as a “Plymouth Cuda.” Okay, they shut down Plymouth, they still retain the name. Utilize existing plant space, and this would be the only Plymouth model (unless they decided to add a Duster). Then, it needs to retain the 71 Cuda looks, while being set up for road racing/touring, instead of straight ahead speed. This would differentiate it from Challenger. Finally, take it to NASCAR. I realize they are running identical cars with different stickers, but this would put a Plymouth back out on the track. Talk about promotion!
