Electric and hydraulic is the best of both worlds. In some instances neither is enough but both give you options. Make sure you make a good backing plate and tie it to your frame when mounting.
In the next video I made a 2” receiver hitch mount with adjustable support legs. That way it ties directly to the frame and can be used on multiple different vehicles relatively easily

Think you will want the swing space by picking a side, the hitch idea sounds cool until you have to load things. I did at least 10 engine swaps with an abandoned electric winch we found at the dump... to get it to drop you had to release the brake, it was a bit spooky sometimes : ]

Yes i agree it should be offset ! I’ve heard some complaints about the mounting to the body with the harbour freight crane and some people might not want to drill holes in the body so I think a frame mount would be easy on a 2” hitch and I’ve never seen it done yet. It could be simple and universal. Could move the crane from one truck to another easily , hopefully. That’s my plan anyway

@@TheCanadianBubba on a 2 in receiver hitch, but offset to one side. It will be similar to the 3pt hitch adapter I made for the trailblazer snow plow. Like a T-bar or another hitch that slides into any class 3 or 2inch HD frame hitch. I guess I’m not the first or only one to think about it because after discussing it I’ve seen some hitch cranes pop up in my video recommendations . Some seem to have a support jack as well or supporting legs

Why would I need a 3500 lb winch on a 1000 lb max crane???
good question! mine is a 2000 lb winch but in your case 3500 is rated line pull. thats a straight flat plane pull rating. if you want to lift something, instead of pull something, you will require a higher rating because the ratings are straight line pull ratings. uphill or lift ratings would be lesser, so a 3500 lb winch can pull 3500 on a flat plate but it would not be able to lift 3500 because the way they make rating.
