      I made the hitch mount from another old hitch off an old dodge , plus 2 c-channel beams, one 3/8” plate and a support jack

      Hey Andy I looked at that Pontiac for you but the interior is worse than yours unfortunately. I made a video but haven’t done anything with the footage

      @@613Builds Thanks John. If it is worse than mine, you don't have to post it. But if you want to post it for a laugh, GO AHEAD. It might get some giggles. 🤣🍻

    You have a great demonstration video. You need to take more credit for your hitch. I do not want to bolt mine down to the bed of truck.

    So why you never showed us your hitch setup? Probably the best part of your crane was not shown on video

    • @613Builds
      @613Builds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry about that, i was asked to review the crane as an item so that was my main focus. i just wanted to include that anything with a half-ton lift rating should be attached to a solid frame point. i made a removable hitch attachment from another old recycled hitch , back to back on the 2" coupler, plus a support level jack because overkill build strength is the safest and strongest compared to attaching to a truck bed which would be only sheetmetal.

    • @mikep8861
      @mikep8861 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@613Builds I agree but most people do in fact anchor it to the frame via a bracket or plate under truck but I’m like you. I don’t wanna drill any holes in bed or the frame of truck.
      They do make hitch crane setups already made but those have a short arm and barely reach the side of bed with fully extended on the 500lb spot. The 1000lb point won’t even nake it to the truck. Bad design. I’ve been thinking of doing something similar to you. Your idea is good. I might have to incorporate that idea in mine

    Do you have a video of how you built your hitch mount? Looks like you can slide it side to side. ?

    • @613Builds
      @613Builds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it has several sets of holes on the rails to mount the crane in different positions on either side. I was trying to focus on the crane itself but I made a hitch mount from another old trailer hitch and used 2” square tube to connect it to the truck. I mounted 2 heavy c-channel rails across the hitch frame mounts and put a 1/4” plate under the crane, on top the c-rails. I could make a separate video but I intentionally tried to focus on the crane. The mount is important because I didn’t want to drill holes in any body sheet metal and I wanted it to be frame strong with the ability to swap the setup into other trucks and vehicles as well.

      OK cool I figured that's what you did but would be cool to see it. I bought the same crane to put on a flat deck
      I have for moving honey bee equipment. Was thinking of building something similar that I could slide the crane from one side to the other. Or from front to back.

      @@wild2heart good idea.
      possibly tracks or rails with locking pins 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • @mycaribeat

    Is that connected to the hitch?

    • @613Builds
      @613Builds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes sir 😎👍🏽 and also a level / support jack. I made a hitch mount to make it easily removable and not have to drill holes in the body. Easy to switch to another vehicle or even on a van or tractor 🚜
