- We visit Murgatroyds just outside Leeds, which is considered one of Yorkshire's best fish and chip shops, so we had to check it out and try the biggest fish and chips they had 🤣

I used to work not too far from here, in Yeadon at Epilepsy Action for 12.5 years. My late wife and I enjoyed their great food many times over the years. Very highly recommended!! Thanks for the wonderful video. It brings back very nice memories. ❤️

One thing for sure; Anytime you go to Murgatroys, youll get lots of "older end" there. Aye, the price is very fair, but the fact they use beef dripping is a big draw, too! That's what they/i were brought up on. ( I live 2 miles away, never had "shite" ).......Excuse my english.

Quality, quantity and a great price! We need more places like this in uk! where they actually respect their customers like the old days! Not just find every way possible to cut corners, and rip everyone off every way they can possibly think off! My town is disgusting, the way they treat their customers!

Beef dripping is the best to cook anything in as it adds flavour.

Leeds F&C’s are the best. In the World. Should have gone down The Chevin into Otley. Some cracking chippies there n’all.

Looks impressive but I’d like to see you review some of the chippies in Sheffield that do meals for less than or around £5.00. Fantastic no frills shops that serve top quality food.

great to see you eating proper fish and chips aka in beef dripping.
Yorkshire your stop on , except if you go to that Tourist trap on the coast with loads of chippies don’t forget get to take a very large magnifying glass to see the haddock ie tail end and thin , and loads of money. Ps there are a very few good chippies there that serve the real deal, but not cooking in dripping.
When you coming to York the capitol of Yorkshire
I have always found that adding vinegar to fish impairs the real textured taste. We know all about salt and vinegar in this traditional dish, however, fish would be ideally better without the vinegar on the batter as it would soak through and ediblelly contaminate the fish.
I certainly miss Haddock and Cod in Australia

Papas in Cleethorpes is big Fish and chip shop. That looks well nice though
In New York we use ketchup on fish 🐠 tartar too. Curry sauce is interesting I’ll have to try it .

Seems a shame not to taste the fish before covering it in two gallons of vinegar and six pounds of salt. Probably the best place in Europe for chips is Brussels and I guarantee they do not use small new potatoes. Fish looked amazing.
i lived in Brussels, and i can tell you Murgatroyd's is in a different class altogether - Brussels chips outstanding but the fish nowhere near Billy Murgs

Great price, I paid £12.25 in Saundersfoot last Saturday which was £9.50 last September. Unbelievable behaviour.

What about the Little Fishermen or Westfield, I'd have also said the Worlds Oldest but that went a good few years ago....
@@jacobsfoodreview everyone's allowed there own favourite .I've not tried the Westfield ,maybe in the future . I personally think Murgatroyds are great , and are always consistent in there quality. That's always been my experience, hence why I'm happy to return over and over again .

That fish looked perfectly cooked. Only downside for me is cooking in beef fat, ruins the taste for me.

How on earth are you going to manage to eat all that? It is large enough to feed four people easily!! Too much. I would end up wasting half of it at least, but as it is, I can’t eat there anyway, because they fry it in beef dripping, so fish eating veggies like me can’t go there. Peoples’ pomposity about fish and chips really annoys me. You can’t do this, you can’t do that. Okay, I won’t have it then. I’ll go and buy the battered fish fillets and chunky chips from the supermarket. Much easier. And I don’t mind the skin on.
