Wonderful commentary - thank you for sharing your reaction. The “Cornetto Trilogy” consists of Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World's End (2013). They were all directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Simon Pegg. All three films feature recurring cast members, including Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman and Bill Nighy. There were several noteworthy cameos in this film - director Peter Jackson played the deranged Father Christmas (Santa) who stabbed Nicholas and Cate Blanchett played Nicholas' ex-girlfriend Jeanine at the crime scene. Also, two of the “Village of the Year” judges were played by the mothers of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. These three films are referred to as the “Cornetto Trilogy” because each included references to Cornetto ice cream cones. 🍦
Not just references, but the Cornetto used in each is colour coded to the film, original (blue) for Hot Fuzz the police movie, strawberry (red) for Shaun of the Dead, and mint (green) for The World's End.
Simon Skinner was played by Timothy Dalton, and Simon Pegg said in an interview that it was a thrill to exchange gunfire and win a fight with a former James Bond.
It really is, many of the comments here talk about how tight the script is and it’s hard to argue. The subtle humor is what gets me. It’s so well timed and hilarious. Thank you so much for watching!
Just to clarify....the Cornetto Trilogy is Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz then finally Worlds End....glad you appreciated it as much as I do for me its in my top fuve of film comedies....for context The Blues Brothers and Airolane are joint No 1 - I just couldnt seperate them!
Hot Fuzz is my personal favorite. Sean of The Dead is pretty awesome. But as someone already commented, the script has ZERO fat. Almost every line of dialogue pays off, or is foreshadowed etc etc. I could go on and on. But I’ll end on, it also walks the perfect line of a parody and a homage to every action movie ever made. (Which is called a pastiche btw. I learned that in art school, a parody mocks, a pastiche mocks but clearly does it while honoring the source material. 🤓🤓🤓)
Small town crazy is a real thing I think... One of my favourite shows is one called League of Gentlemen (it's got mycroft from BBC sherlock) which is centered around people living in a small town called Royston vasey. It's... Interesting lol
You can tell which order the movies are in from the state each Cornetto Nick Frost is eating is in. In Shaun of the dead, he' just starting the ice cream, in this one he's half way through.
If you can find it anywhere i highly recommend to react to the tv show Spaced. Its what they started with and one of the episode lead to them making Shaun of the Dead and its amazing
6:00 He said 'supermarché', which is French for 'supermarket'. Most British people don't speak French particularly well, but most of us have at least been to France, so know the word for 'supermarket'!
Loved your reaction. The Lon Don joke is that they are so in their own little village that they don't even know how to pronounce the capital city of their own country, let alone it being one of the most well known cities in the world.
To complete the trilogy, you need to watch The World's End. The humour is a bit more British-skewed (yes, even more than this one!), but I'm sure you'll enjoy it anyway. It's a riot!
One of the early lines that gets called back, and a lot of commenters miss, is one of the Andys telling Angel, "You wanna be a big cop in a small town? Fuck off up the model village." Then, the climax of the movie takes place in the model village.
I love the Cornetto Trilogy, all three of the movies have their merits though Hot Fuzz is without a doubt the most tightly scripted of the films. Another anthology trilogy that you guys might want to check out is Terry Gilliam's three movies about the stages of life, Time Bandits (youth), Brazil (maturity), and the Adventures of the Baron Munchausen (elderly). Again, each movie has its merits and not unlike the Cornetto Trilogy, the middle movie actually tends to get the most attention, although for me the first and the last are the ones that I actually like the most.
35:53 The reason they're all pronouncing "London" strangely is that (a) they have West Country accents and (b) it's a joke, implying that they're so provincial that they've barely ever had to say the name of the nation's capital city. Oddly enough I was born in London but spent most of my childhood near Bristol, so the accent is very familiar to me and is part of the fun!
Good thing that guy clipped the hedge. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to vault over it. This movie reminds me of a Sherlock Holmes quote: "“They always fill me with a certain horror. It is my belief, Watson, founded upon my experience, that the lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of sin than does the smiling and beautiful countryside.” “You horrify me!” “But the reason is very obvious. The pressure of public opinion can do in the town what the law cannot accomplish. There is no lane so vile that the scream of a tortured child, or the thud of a drunkard’s blow, does not beget sympathy and indignation among the neighbours, and then the whole machinery of justice is ever so close that a word of complaint can set it going, and there is but a step between the crime and the dock. But look at these lonely houses, each in its own fields, filled for the most part with poor ignorant folk who know little of the law. Think of the deeds of hellish cruelty, the hidden wickedness which may go on, year in, year out, in such places, and none the wiser.
In your wrap-up y'comment 'no romance?' , and there was going to be a love interest in Sandford for Nicholas, but ultimately that got left out. Instead, a lot of the lines (more or less unchanged) were given to Danny, and it works quite brilliantly :)
Great reaction to one of my favorites. If you love this, you will also love "Paul", also starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Additionally, you could be the first reactors to react to a star-studded action comedy, directed by an award-winning director, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94% "Out of Sight" (1998) stars George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, and is directed by Steven Soderbergh. The fact that this film hasn't been covered by any TH-cam movie reaction channels is criminal. You can change that.
Thank you for watching! We’ve actually seen Paul (big fan of it), BUT I am intrigued by Out of Sight…I’ll look into it and probably add it to the list. Thanks for the recommendation!
5:34 we don't have drunk tanks in the UK any more. All prisoners get their own cell, and if they're too inebriated they go to hospital with a police escort.
Inn my opinion this is a world class classic, and the cast from a James Bond , the original cop from the wicker man, the nanny from the omen, the rene bellow from Indiana jones a character from the original hellraiser movie , the list is endless, best from the cornet to trilogy, just my opinion .
You really ought to watch the last of the trilogy . . . 'The Worlds End'. Hot Fuzz is by far the best of the three, and Worlds End is probably the weakest . . . But weakest in the Cornetto trilogy still makes for a great film. Also, if you like dark humour? I can highly recommend Martin McDonaghs 'In Bruges' and Armando Iannuccis 'The Death of Stalin'. Both dark, sometimes bleak but utterly, utterly hilarious. Chris Isaacs portrayal of Marshall Zhukov in the latter is one of the most hilariously brilliant performances Ive ever seen.

At first glance you can be forgiven for thinking Sten, but actually it isn't a Sten. And it may or may not be 9mm. It could be any of half a dozen different ammunition sizes. It's a Steyr-Solothurn S1-100, the giveaways are the wooden stock and handguard, the front sight, the cocking handle. A few Stens were made with wooden furniture but that proved too expensive. The whole point of the Sten was the ultra low production cost (about $10 at the time). In contrast the S1-100 is sometimes referred to as the Rolls-Royce of sub-machine guns. It was very expensive to produce. The S1-100 was made in a number of calibers for different customers - Austrian Police 9x23mm Steyr, Austrian Army & Greek Police 9x25mm Mauser. Portugal had it in 7.65x21mm Luger and .45ACP and 9x19mm Luger. A number of South & Central American countries bought it in 7.63×25mm Mauser.
@@lloydcollins6337 The Sterling L2 has a curved mag. Some of the reliability issues with the Sten were due to its magazine being, well, a bit crappy. The curved mag was way, way better quality. Sterling cleverly designed the weapon so that Sten mags would fit the gun if needed. But a Sterling mag wouldn't work in a Sten. Countries who owned Stens couldn't just buy Sterling mags to improve reliability. 🤔😀The Sterling was a real success, used for nigh on 40 years by UK forces. Sold to over 50 other countries. The Sterling company did manufacture a weapon called the Lanchester (named after its designer) early in the war. It had a wooden stock and a straight mag and looks similar to the S1-100. But its cocking handle is a little different and its barrel does not extend past the shroud.

I’m such an airhead. I never realized that’s why it’s called the Cornetto trilogy! That’s brilliant. Thank you so much for watching!
Simon Skinner was played by Timothy Dalton, and Simon Pegg said in an interview that it was a thrill to exchange gunfire and win a fight with a former James Bond.
Oh shit. That makes sense. I didn’t recognize him because well…I’ve never seen any Bond movies….😬 maybe that could be a series on the channel?
So many cameos, including the original THE EQUALISER, SO MANY ACTORS FROM SO MUCH POP CULTURE.
I think that’s why Caitie and I loved it so much. The pop culture references and how comedic timing is so perfect. Thank you for watching!
bro how did you guys just instantly become my favorite reactors
I can’t even tell you what that means to us. Thank you so much for watching! Seriously flying from your comment. Thank you!
Hot Fuzz is a near perfect movie. Its brilliant. I hope it will be a classic of this era
I see we share similar tastes! Love the Blues Brothers AND Airplane and now. Hot fuzz. Thank you for watching!
Ok. That is so incredible that there’s a word for it. Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching!
Small town crazy is a real thing I think... One of my favourite shows is one called League of Gentlemen (it's got mycroft from BBC sherlock) which is centered around people living in a small town called Royston vasey. It's... Interesting lol
Haha I see country folk are very interesting in both of our countries 🤣 loved the Sherlock series too btw.
Great Review - Great Comic Duo - Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, need to do a reaction to the Movie "Paul"
Thank you! We’ve seen Paul before. Maybe we’ll do like a “rewatch” type of thing. Thank you for watching!
You can tell which order the movies are in from the state each Cornetto Nick Frost is eating is in. In Shaun of the dead, he' just starting the ice cream, in this one he's half way through.
What?!?! Are you serious? That is brilliant! Thank you so much for watching
If you can find it anywhere i highly recommend to react to the tv show Spaced. Its what they started with and one of the episode lead to them making Shaun of the Dead and its amazing
During our Shaun of the Dead reaction, a ton of people suggested that. I definitely want to check it out. Thanks again for watching!
6:00 He said 'supermarché', which is French for 'supermarket'. Most British people don't speak French particularly well, but most of us have at least been to France, so know the word for 'supermarket'!
Monsieur, vous faites une grande injustice à nous, les Britanniques !
Loved your reaction. The Lon Don joke is that they are so in their own little village that they don't even know how to pronounce the capital city of their own country, let alone it being one of the most well known cities in the world.
Haha I freakin love this movie! Those details are so funny
To complete the trilogy, you need to watch The World's End. The humour is a bit more British-skewed (yes, even more than this one!), but I'm sure you'll enjoy it anyway. It's a riot!
It’s coming! But now I hope we understand the British humor haha. Thank you for watching!
@@LOTReviews You're welcome - it was a lot of fun! :) I look forward to the third instalment.
43:07 - The two female judges were played by the mothers of Simon Pegg (Sgt. Angel) and Edgar Wright (director).
Love that trivia! Thank you for watching!
If you haven't seen them, Space Cowboys or Eddie the Eagle, you'll love!
Never seen Space Cowboys BUT we have seen Eddie the Eagle. It’s like my MIL’s favorite movie haha. Thanks for watching!
One of the early lines that gets called back, and a lot of commenters miss, is one of the Andys telling Angel, "You wanna be a big cop in a small town? Fuck off up the model village."
Then, the climax of the movie takes place in the model village.
Totally missed that! Thank you so much for watching!
The stabby man dressed as Father Christmas "Santa" is Peter Jackson.
That is hilarious! Hahaha
Interesting never heard of Gillian’s trilogy. I’ll check it out. Thank you so much for watching!
@6:05 he said it in French, "marché", that's why it sounds fancy
It did sound super fancy. Haha. Thank you for watching
That is actually so hilarious 🤣 thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
Good thing that guy clipped the hedge. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to vault over it.
This movie reminds me of a Sherlock Holmes quote:
"“They always fill me with a certain horror. It is my belief, Watson, founded upon my experience, that the lowest and vilest alleys in London do not present a more dreadful record of sin than does the smiling and beautiful countryside.”
“You horrify me!”
“But the reason is very obvious.
This comment was just incredible. Very insightful. Thank you so much for sharing and for watching!
In your wrap-up y'comment 'no romance?' , and there was going to be a love interest in Sandford for Nicholas, but ultimately that got left out. Instead, a lot of the lines (more or less unchanged) were given to Danny, and it works quite brilliantly :)
I actually love that they gave it to Danny. Added to the comedy and the bromance of it all
"Is that a Tommy?" No, its a Sten, the Tommy's cheaper British cousin. Just as iconic to Brits as the Tommy is to Americans.
Haha! I’m sure just as fun to fire!
"The Greater Good"...Policemen/Officers hate paperwork. Check out a film called PAUL with the same leading actors.
I’ve actually seen Paul. I remember really liking it. I think that was the first Simon Pegg movie I had seen.
The greater good
Great reaction to one of my favorites. If you love this, you will also love "Paul", also starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Additionally, you could be the first reactors to react to a star-studded action comedy, directed by an award-winning director, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94%
"Out of Sight" (1998) stars George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, and is directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Ex gf Jeanine is a cameo from Cate Blanchett.
I did find that out. It bugged me so I had to look it up lol. Thank you for watching!
Great reaction. You really need to see Point Break for the references.
Most definitely on the list now! Thank you for watching!
Cate Blanchett played Janine (Nicholas' ex-girlfriend) but was uncredited
I found out after. I had to dive in and see who it was! Thank you for watching!
Wisdom most pure: "The eyes are the crotch of the face."
😂 🤣
Nobody jumps fences better than Simon Pegg!
That scene was soooo funny because of Shaun of the Dead 🤣
Inn my opinion this is a world class classic, and the cast from a James Bond , the original cop from the wicker man, the nanny from the omen, the rene bellow from Indiana jones a character from the original hellraiser movie , the list is endless, best from the cornet to trilogy, just my opinion .
I thought I recognized him from Indiana jones! Honestly, what a fantastic cast. Thank you for watching!
Janine is played by Cate Blanchett 😁
I knew I recognized her!
I'm british, and I understood all 3 translations 😂
Hahaha I got 2/3. I think that’s pretty good! Thank you for watching!
Worlds End is definitely coming so stay tuned! I love dark humor. I’ll have to check out those movies! Thank you so much for watching!
The girlfriend with the Hasmat suit on is Cate Blanchett!!
Conan the barbarian 1982film is worth watching Arnold schwarzeneggers first film 🎥 it has a fantastic music score
As does the film once upon a time in the west that is another fantastic film well worth watching 😊 ❤
I’ve actually never thought of watching that BUT that’s what this channel is for. Watching movies we wouldn’t normally and doing it together. So stick around, I’ll add it to the list!
Truly, the eyes are the crotch of the face 😂😂🤣
Instant subscribe.
🤣 thank you!
You need to watch the bloopers 😂
We need to! I’m pretty sure my stomach would cramp from laughing 🤣 thank you for watching!
You guys have a full version? Or Patreon?
We do not. It’s something we’ve been talking about. I think we’ll be able to post more on a Patreon because the videos would be full length reviews. But we want to make sure we’re going to be able to post consistently. We don’t want to have people pay and not get what they paid for. But it might be coming soon. Thank you so much for watching!
@@LOTReviews Ok
8:40 he said "they city boyz fink they Knows be'er, in um" , which means "those people from the city think they are better than us dont they"
Once you have watched The World's End, don't stop there. You also have to watch Paul with both Nick and Simon. Plus it's a romantic movie with Kristen Wig who is brilliant in this.
I have seen Paul before and loved it. I think that was my first intro to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. “It’s not fat Paul, it’s power…” 🤣
Please react to Arcane!! Incredible show, it made me cry multiple times. Amazing action and beautiful animation.
Oooooo I might have to try that.
glad u liked it
Not liked. LOVED it. Thank you for watching!
Airplane reference: Timothy Dalton standing in front of his photo in the same pose
Crocodile Dundee reference: Angel taking out a thief with a thrown can
Blues Brothers reference: every one easily surviving the building exploding
I should have gotten those! I totally missed them! Thank you for watching!
Another great Edgar Wright movie is Baby Driver - can be a bit tricky to edit for copyright, but well worth it!
I’ve never seen that! Maybe we’ll watch it. I know there’s a lot of music in it, so yeah, it might be tough, but we’ll see. Thank you so much for the watch!
Layer Cake,legendary British gangster movie
Snatch,funny as fuck.
Lock stock and Two Smoking Barrels is hilarious and very fast paced, blink and you’ll miss another gem.
I think these movies have sparked a love of British comedy for us!
Notice everyone’s last name in relation to what they do?
Tim Messenger-reporter. Mrs. Tiller has that floral shop. Skinner…Angel…Blower…Draper…Merchant etc. Took me a bit to finally catch that.
It took me until right now to catch that haha! Again, the detail in this movie is incredible. Thanks for watching!
@@LOTReviews totally! This movie is brilliant!!
Aron A Aronson !!
So many references in this film - one that often gets missed is the “but you’ve always been here” comment when Angel first checks in - a line straight from The Shining.
If you like British comedy, try …
IT Crowd
Extras
Black adder
and of course Red Dwarf.
Good luck with your channel.
@@butnooneshome what am I missing with that guy’s name? Is it something to do with the 3 As in his name?
This film demonstrates how Bernie of Tarth, could have simply defeated the Hound with nothing more than a crudely toy and a pot plant.
Right?! She used a sword and a mountain side. Talk about over kill.
It's not a tommy gun , it's a british sten gun 9mm .
Right on. Thanks for watching!
@@WithTwoFlakesI thought it was a Sterling
Subbed, you guys deserve more views but they will come. May I suggest snatch by guy Ritchie. If not no worries
Thank you so much. These comments fire me up to put more videos out (and we plan to). Snatch by guy Ritchie. We will check it out! Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching!
@@LOTReviews Great Comedy but use Sub Titles, my friends...
35:54 they say it like that as the running joke is that none of them have ever been to London or really know where it is or how to pronounce it.
The World's End next.
Then the TV series Spaced.
Editing the World’s End. Hopefully publishing it soon! Thank you for watching!
Finally, reactors who have seen Baz Lurman’s Romeo + Juliet!
How could we not have seen the Leo classic?!?! Haha thank you for watching!
@@LOTReviews you’d be surprised, to my shame I’ve watched a load of Hot Fuzz reactions & you’re the first to show any recognition
Janine is played by Cate Blanchett.
The World's End is good but gets better as you get older, dealing with 'lost youth'. I think I like that most now though all three are infinitely rewatchable. If your Missus likes murders in the rural atmosphere then I'm sure she'd like the show 'Midsomer Murders' set in the murder capital of England!
If it’s about lost youth I’ll probably cry! Just like everytime I hear Glory Days by Springsteen 🤣. Caitie does indeed love murders. I often joke she watches murder documentaries to take notes haha. I’ll pass the recommendation along to her. Thank you so much for watching!
@LOTReviews Got to go now. Somewhere there is a crime in progress...
The Pub in this movie is same as the Winchester in Shaun of the Dead.
How did I not pick up on that? I guess that makes sense. Thank you for watching!
lucky man... good looking bird
Haha! I appreciate that. I am indeed a lucky guy.
Great reaction guys. Please tell me you'll go ahead and finish off the Cornetto Trilogy and react to The World's End (2013) :)
It looks like we’re going to have to finish the trilogy. Thanks for watching!
@@LOTReviews I think you'll really enjoy it, so don't worry lol
Angel's ex-girlfriend in the beginning was played by Cate Blanchett, uncredited. It's a masterclass in acting with just your eyes and your voice.
You're not seriously going to believe this man are you?! He isn't even from round ere! With respect sir, geographical origin shouldn't factor in the application of trust XD
What an amazing line! So funny yet serious at the same time haha! Thank you for watching! We really appreciate it
@@LOTReviews As many young Brits of the day have I grew up watching this film, it came out when I was only 10 and now I'm in my late twenties. I have seen it that many times I know it by heart. Absolutely!
I love that they are 'so far away from' London that they can't pronounce it correctly. :D
Is that why they were saying it all weird?! Hahaha that’s hilarious
This guy is so random it’s hilarious
SotD first, then Hot Fuzz, then the Worlds End... #CornettoTrilogy
Paul is a hoot too, the unofficial 4th part with Pegg and Frost both in it.
After this one, the only one we haven’t seen would be the Worlds End. I actually really liked Paul. That was my first introduction to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Thank you for watching!
Janine is Cate Blanchett and Santa is Peter Jackson
So disappointed , not seen Point Break. 😄
Haha! I know! My older brothers say the same thing! Stick around, it’s on the list to watch!
The worlds end next! Final episode of the 3
It’s coming! Thank you for watching!
Watch the original wicker man 1973 as well, it's definitely influenced by it
I’ll have a look. Thanks for watching!
a great gangster/comedy film is Snatch
I’ll check it out! Thank you for watching!
the battle of sommerfield

"Geographical location shouldn't affect the application of the law" as cake that looks like the US Flag enters frame.

Not a Thompson ....think its a Bren Gun
Other comment said the same thing. Said the Bren is the British version of the Thompson. Thank you for watching!
You needed to watch Point Break and Bad Boys 2 before watching this.
We’re definitely talking about watching both of those. We both have never seen Point Break and Caitie has never seen Bad Boys so we may post us watching those! Thank you for watching!
You need to watch The Worlds End if you havent yet another of Simon Peggs greats in this type of film
