Clarion Cruising - Day 1 on the Norfolk Broads - Stalham to Ludham Bridge

Welcome to day 1 of our four day break on Clarion, a four berth boat hired from Richardson's Boating Holidays in Stalham, Norfolk.
In this video you get to see us on the morning that we collect the boat, having travelled from Cornwall the night before and stayed in a hotel in Norwich.
Due to the limited day light and the amount of people on the river we decide that we will only cruise a short distance and moor at the BRoads Authority Mooring at Ludham Bridge.
This time my son Patrick is with us and he take the helm for a period of time. WE also enjoy a meal at the Dog Inn and celebrate Lisa's Graduation as an Emergency Care Assistant for the ambulance service.

G Morn we enjoyed your Vlog,we've been hiring our boats from Richardsons since the Horizon days, we've just returned from a week's cruise, last week, but I just wanted to mention, the Boat you mentioned "broadband orion" we hired that Boat back in 1992,and intend to hire her next year sort off living our past again,happy cruising for the future,rgds&Blessings Steve&Theresa
Thank you for taking the time to comment, we did a 10 episode series on Broadland Orion, we loved it. I should have done some research before making some of the videos but I’ve been corrected on my errors 😂. Even though we now have our own boat we do intend to hire the odd boat every now and then just for old time sake. Hope that you have enjoyed some of our other vlogs and will continue to enjoy them. Let us know when you are up on the Broads as we may be around (we are here at the moment) Regards Lisa and Rich

Hi guys, great video we will be in the broads in our yellow boat car in the next few weeks filming shame we wasn't there at the same time to hook up.
We use to live in Charles Close Wroxham moved from there to Sandbanks and regretting it.
Norfolk is so much better than Dorset especially the community.
We are currently deciding whether to move back to Wroxham or down to Cornwall.

Hi Chris, funnily enough I moved from Brundall to Cornwall many years ago! I do miss Norfolk but Cornwall is just amazing, they are two completely different place, one is flat with wide open space that you can see for miles and the other is the exact opposite. We have been following your adventures in the Dutton and makes us both really miss ours.

We will try our best as I’ve mentioned in previous comments, however you can always enjoy the 360° flogs that we put out every other week

Lisa has seriously contemplated the idea of writing a book, she apparently intend to entitle it! The knobs I have known, don’t ask me I have no idea. She assures me it is in no way rude and once you have read it you will understand why it is called what it is, Never Say Never I guess.

Irstead (holy grail) was empty! Mind you, I suppose that’s just too short a cruise from Stalham after picking up the boat.
I would have done that but as you say its a short cruise, Ideally we needed the boat for longer and have decided that 4 day cruising doesn't really work for us. Thank you for watching.

I think there was positives from both boats and negatives from both boats, we are hoping to Hire a newer boat next year which for incorporate everything that Lisa liked about this boat and Broadland Orion
Pub got busy towards the end
Yes it did, in actual fact I was very surprised it wasn’t more busy from the word go with the amount of boats we’d seen on the river.
It is not the normal boat shape inside, looks very square but comfortable
It’s not exactly a traditionally shaped deck area I fully agree
Its nice you show us what you do but will there be more cruising
Yes there will be more cruising and it’s always difficult to try and get the balance of talking and cruising correct. We have had comments on previous videos where people asked to do more cruising, then when we do this we get request to do more talking about the things that we are doing.
To try and get around this I am filming in 360° video so that there is always the full journey and cruise that we do for you to see. These videos normally follow the week after the talkie video has been out, keep an eye out for our next one where we cruise from London to Wroxham

I think you could have made Horning if you carried on cruising as you had daylight.
You are probably right, we just wanted to get moored up and not risk not being able to more when we got there. The problem with a four day cruise is that you are so limited as to how far you can go, I’m not sure if four day cruises are for us as it limits you so much

I wanted to join the Ambulance service in my country, you have to be clever
In the UK to be a paramedic you have to have a degree in paramedic science, this is normally a three-year degree and is exceptionally hard work. However you can join as a paramedic assistant which have a variety of names And the training for this dependent on what you do is between five weeks and 16 weeks. Your country might do something similar always worth investigating

We did when we used a Broadland Orion we walked across the field to get to the pub, not that we’re alcoholics we just wanted to enjoy some food LOL

Yes Lisa did drive the boat but only for a short period of time, I think she just enjoyed the fact that she could sit in the world deck and watch the world go bye
