  • Cindy's Palace Seafood Restaurant is famous for their delicious seafood dishes. I treated my mom to dinner leading up to Mother's Day. We had the famous Lobster With Sticky Rice wrapped in lotus leaves and steamed in a bamboo basket. Sticky rice is also known as glutinuos rice. The lobster is dusted in flour and deep fried briefly and The rice seem to be boiled. A big piece of lotus leaf is laid down in a large bamboo steamer. Then the glutinous rice is put in, then topped by the whole lobster pieces. The lotus leaf is covered over the the lobster and glutinous rice and steamed. The fragrance of the lotus leaf is infused into the lobster and glutinous rice. This is truly a dish that is wotrthy for special occasions.
    We also had one of my mom's favorite dishes, which was jellyfish toseed in sesame oil. Jellyfish is a plankton and not a fish. There are some purported health benefits to eating jellyfish, which you can research. Jellyfish has been served in Chinese cooking for over 1700 years. Also, jellyfish is known to be an ahrodisiac in China.
    We also had a large serving of chicken and bitter melon with black bean stir fry. Contrary to common belief, bitter melon is not really bitter. It does have a sour taste but definitely, in my opinion, not all that bitter. You can extract some of that sour taste in bitter melon using salt, but often I don't because I like the sour taste. The bitter melon is some purported health benefits so we like to order it often in Chinese melons.
