Yes, thee it is a nice feeling because there is the shared connection. The food is pretty good and not too expensive compared to a lot of restaurants. Thanks for viewing my video.
I've had dumplings split open but never actually explode like that before. Weird that I caught it on the video. I agree, my mom is a treasure and I'm always happy to take her out to eat. Thanks for checking out my video.
Love football dumplings! My wife's not crazy about them so we usually skip it in favour of things we both enjoy like har gow. Haven't been to Pink Pearl since before covid...I didn't know they did parking lot dining. Thanks for the recipe and for posting, Dan!
You're very welcome. You're very considerate towards your wife. Rumours about Pink Pearl closing at the end of next year because their lease is up. Potential site for new social housing. I'll be doing video in future. Thanks for checking out my video.
@@DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV That'll be too bad. Pink Pearl has been there forever. As for my wife, yes, I try to be considerate, but I might have to divorce her so I can start enjoying football dumplings again! Just kidding. Thanks Dan!
Thanks for letting me know about this place. I was going to go to the Richmond Hudson's Bay, so I'll be sure to give it a try. Thanks for checking out my video.
Wow! Deep fried durian balls? I have never in my life heard of this. Now am very curious if it exists in San Francisco. Thanks for this very interesting video Dan
My Toisan family never called them football dumplings even though we live in the US. They were always referred to as "gai loong" (aka chicken basket). Filling consisted of diced pork, dried shrimp, dried black mushroom, preserved radish, celery, onion and scallion.
Yes, some people call the football dumplings "gai loong". Other people call them "hum sui gok", aka salt water corners. I'm probably only one of the few people that call these football dumplings so I was surprised they are called football dumplings on the menu. If you like, check out my mom's recipe for "gai loong" th-cam.com/video/SRUJLtt_Izw/w-d-xo.html Thanks for checking out my video.
@@DanSetoChineseCanadianRootsTV I know others who call them "football" dumplings. I believe the term was coined by Chinese born in North America. Toisan call them gai loong and in Cantonese, it is hom sui gok.
I'm not a big fan of durian but this deep fried durian was pretty good. I wonder if they put some other ingredients in there. Thanks for checking out my video.
Great video, Dan...football dumplings are my favorite dim sum item...thanks for sharing your recipe 🤗❤
My pleasure!! One of my alltime favorites too. Thanks for checking out my video.
It must always be a nice feeling to meet someone from the Four Counties. Their food looked really delicious.

I guess this proves that anything can be good if you deep fry it… even durian 😅
@@Fabulousprofound168 You could be right. I had durian ice cream before but I didn't really like it. Thanks for commenting.
Yes is not as stinky as pooh!
I have never smelled it when it's ripe. One of the hotels i stayed at in Thailand banned it from the hotel rooms. Thqnks for checking out my video.
