Love the idea of a rear motor class. Bandits, dirt masters and also Associated has the Rb10 (basically a b5) that could run. Also since your going to build your shock towers, take some notes from the kyosho and B6. The front tower has a cross bar. Also there are carbon fiber and g10 towers available from Factory parts and extreme rc
Kyosho looks very good and balanced around the dirt track. Bandit was upgraded and did decent but you can see how the Kyosho takes the jumps and turns easily. The Kyosho has already been proven in the past to win races. Nice video!
I’m in the middle of an rc10 restoration plan in bringing it to big dig when I’m done I do like the dirt master. You should get a bbx and run it against those cars I love the look of them don’t know how well it would do but it would be fun
Great video! Loving both of them. The Bandit is a better all around car for bashing and having fun but on the track.... IDK... it looked too close to call really but sounds like the Kyosho is better. I think the Kyosho is the "cooler car" though. I want to not like the Bandit but mine is such a solid car for what it is. My Bandit with minimal mods does nearly 100 mph. I don't think the Kyosho would be able to do stuff like that nearly as easily. Can't wait for the next installment!
I have been following your videos and started racing at BigDog though mostly on the road course. I have played with the Bandit for sportsman Class indoors. Reviewing all your work, I wonder if the stiffness - or lack thereof - of the shock towers is the issue. It looks like the stock Traxxas shocks are decent and I run them in other vehicles elsewhere. I just put the STRC Aluminum front shock tower in Bandit. It is quite stiff and stable and the added weight may help balance the rear motor. I am not sure I can drive a consistent enough lap to tell the difference. See what you think. Again, Thanks for your channel.
the top classes here at my local tracks are the dirt oval is sort course late model, buggy late model. then offroad it's all 4wd stuff 4wd short cource, 4wd buggy, 4wd truck. so 2wd isn't big here even tho i'm going to run a 2wd slash at the offroad track till i can save up to get something 4wd
Funny how the pendulum swings, eh? Rear motor was all there was, then mid motor became a thing and blew up/took over for the last decade, now it seems people want to go back. MY question is; What's better for mixed surface, mixed usage (ie speed runs vs jumping vs general fun) bashing?
@Drunken_Hamster Kyosho came out with the mid motor Optima Mid back in 1987! Changed the game for high grip racing. All companies followed suit. Rear motor always was and still is the best in dirt and loose stuff though! They just dig!! Mid motors kind of float in comparison.
It will be intersting o see how the cars perform under race conditions, You felt the Kyosho was planted. It appeared to me the Bandit was faster. I think there will b a rear motor 17.5 class because of the vintage cars out there and the new rear motor buggies being sold by different companies.
That was awesome.....if you could make a shorter shock tower for the Bandito......it might help.....love my Bandito.....which i got cuz of your videos......😎👍
3 hole piston in front with 25 wt and 2 hole rear with 27.5 wt. that was last year’s layout so probably not the same now. Shims to allow 20mm front and 21mm rear ride height 🙀
The only problem with a rear-motor class is that the racers will eventually insist that they be able to run mid-motor cars in the class. Racers hate restrictions, and promoters have no spines.
On the bandit it’s a tekno 4wd buggy wing mount. If you go back through all the bandit videos through 2 winters ago I mention all the parts used at some point.
That looked like fun. Yeah I’d expect the Dirt Master to be better out of the box, it’s got that RB5 heritage which was built to compete with the B4. The Bandito was not made to race, even though its overall design is B3 era. It’s supposed to be a basher. Having said that, it has done really well, just with more work/parts put into it.

That Losi XXX behind you is too good!! The Losi XX was my first real rc car. Subscribed
Looks like you guys were having a blast!

Now add in an RB10 into the mix.
Awesome vid! Im debating either getting a slash or bandit ( or something else lol ) to be able to go turn some laps at the local track this winter.
Been waiting for this. Love me a Kyosho but the Bandito, I'd have one tomorrow if I could find a pre loved one locally to have.

One of the best mods for the bandit is the rpm front shock tower for the nitro rustler, direct fit and with a cross brace much more stable
The Dirt Master!

You need to put a mustache on the bumper and a monocle over the front window and call it the dirt Mr.
Joe dirt
😂
Looks like rear motors are getting more popular, especially for outdoors

I can't tell which one"s more point-and-shoot and which one's more for corner speed.
Great stuff as always
The bandito!

I just picked one up cuz of these videos also. Granted I got it for pennies but still lol
+1 more for the same reason.
@mxacres what was your best suspension setup with the stock shocks?

Did you talk anyone into a Monster Truck class? I’m building an LMT and need some track time
😂 not yet

Whats used for the wing mount?

What’s the wing mount on the bandit
I race 17.5 2wd...bought a new b6.4d...still prefer my rear motor tlr 22 2.0 the mid motor has zero traction at our indoor track
Love you guys 😂

More like b2 or b1 era. It was released in its current design in the early 90s lol
Nice 😅
