One year with this speaker and I still can't believe how good it sounds for its size. It is actually so good I am using it at home instead of my home stereo. It is just so easy to play music from my phone, and sounds so good that I don't see any reason to use anything else.
Great review and only one I have seen that discusses in detail the positioning - I have always found it best laying flat but interesting point about having it standing up with a wall behind and wondering whether how that sounds - will need to test!
I also seen a burgundy red sound link flex gen to, I have the black and red and I paired them together and holy moly in sounds like a movie theater. Great video btw ❤
We have one and it is a great addition to a laptop or a good speaker in a very small space e.g. a ship's cabin, but please note it is only 5 Watts peak and around 3.5 Watts RMS, so pretty inadequate for a normal sized room with one or two people talking at normal volume. I still recommend these though! It provides a great illusion of high fidelity, as it was designed to do.
I have 2 to get stereo. But in stereo mode they lose they audio after a while, even though they are connected to my phone. I have to quit the Bose app, then they stay properly connected. I had the same issue with the QC II earbuds. The Bose app remaind buggy after so many years.
Theres an identical passive radiator (for the bass) on the front. Surprised by this misconception with the detail youve put into this.. Laying it flat i hear the highs get pushed louder after a second, can be more or less noticeable depending on whats playing
@ghossst84 lol well actually I found out why it won't connect to Bose apps, it's not a genuine Bose unit, I live in Bali and bought it through an Asian online shopping app, I should have guessed it wasn't genuine it only cost US$40, I was going to return it but it actually has really good sound, can turn it up full volume which is really loud with no distortion and the bass is great and the hands free phone function works as it should so I'll just keep it, I always use a really good eq app on my phone anyway so it's not a big deal not being able to use the Bose eq.
The new version adds AAC codec for iPhone, android codec and Bluetooth 5.3. Pretty big improvements. And better app support. Also there are passive radiators for bass on both sides. Speaker fires forward. 2 also has intelligent position to counter some of the placement issues.
No no no lol. There’s a passive radiator in front AND back also directional intelligence. Lots of misinformation here. The base comes out the front also. Please do some homework people probably rely on this for buying decisions. Also it’s clear from the feet how this stands and it can lie on its back (additional feet). Again has positional intelligence. The charging point angle is not an issue.

The Soundlink max is great too.
Perfect speaker to enjoy your music and don't disturb the neighbors.
Bose good quality, love Bose.
True - I have been using it a lot at home aswell and tempted to get another to stereo pair! It does sound great
Its a monospeaker though. Good enough for travel but personally wouldn't use it to replace a home setup - unless you had two.

Amazing value at the price, and generation 2 is a huge improvement, by far the best Bluetooth speaker available

Can we connect soundlink flex 2nd gen with soundlink flex 1st gen (party mode) ?
I would assume so, since you can connect it with other Bose (non-Flex) speakers. But I don’t know for sure.
No you can’t. Different chipset
No
why it is that boom 4 is like inside a vacuum
It’s on sale on Best Buy atm, loving my V2 , just got it today!

Well done review
Great review !
Should i buy this one for 120$ or the flex 2 for 150$ ?
Flex 2 is on sale at crutchfield for $120
I literally just bought the SE for $99 an hour ago. Couldn't be more thrilled! Merry Christmas to me, lol.
Flex 2 for $119 holiday sale
I have one and it does sound great but no matter what I try I can't get it to get it to connect to the Bose connect app.
Because you need to connect to the Bose app, not Bose connect. All your EQ options & everything you need are there.

That's a lot of howevers. I want to like it but it looks really unattractive, like a modem or router....an old one at that!
Second generation is waaaay better
It's imbecilic that this is a mono speaker. You need 2 of them for stereo. Huge downgrade compared to Bose soundlink mini II.
The Soundlink Flex " Made in Thailand " is shit !
No more Bose !
They sound too sibilant, and unnatural for listening to podcasts and youtube videos.
