Nhlanhla you are right, if i as a Zimbabwean do not qualify for a suitable permit next year then i must go back home. I am a Zimbabwean and did come in 2009 and got the special exemption permits, 12 years has gone by now and our hosts have extended an olive brach time and again to assist us. Now again out of goodwill we have been given 12 months to apply for suitable permits depending on which one best suits your situation, i have no doubt this is to benefit us. If one has spent the 12 years wisely and worked towards freedom from the desperation and helplessness that drove us here then there will be no need to panic. Some of us joined the formal industry and have proven to be industry leaders, some have established businesses legally, some have one way or the other abided by the rules and will definitely be awarded permits suitable to their various situations. Those who will be declined will definitely be given valid reasons and yes a few will be unfairly declined but it happens in any country. We need to be thankful for SA hospitality in accomodating us in our great numbers and not fight for what was never ours to begin with. Simba needs to accept this as fact!!!

Sometimes one needs to be tougher to make the other stronger. They say strong wall fences make good, friendly and united neighbors. Zimbabweans get another 12month chance to gather strength and money, good. SA must hold on their frustration a little longer and depend on Holy Spirit and Jesus mercy on who's gonna help them to be able to get employed and give them places to stay. I'm very glad for Zimbabweans and I'm still very much sad for my SAn brother and sisters suffering. My Zimbabwe fellow Africans that stay in my family house for long time now, will stay until they are ready to go back home. My electrician who installed my whole house inside out and all electrical appliances and repairs, I'll miss him very much. But those things they do for living, was great help to us. Now even so, I want so badly that Zimbabwe, the beautiful country must rise to its beauty again. Nobody will do it better but the owners of the country. That country is big, has resources and it's fertile and they have big lands too, I wish I was one of their citizens because of that.
Forward sister country don't be afraid. You are a strong nation with your heads on your shoulders and you will make it. Make us SA Botswana, Namibia proud.
While we SAns and Swaziland struggle, dealing with our hectic problems. Grow, shine and prosper for others, when you will say one day " fellow Africans, we know this journey and its ups and downs." You feel for them when you you'll give them a net and a bait and teach them how to fish." We wish for another perseverance SAns. God bless both countries and Swaziland and Mozambique.

Our brothers and Sisters from Zimbabwe are creating a problem for everyone, the Zimbabwean government is the "main" problem for Zimbabweans, and S.A cannot just cut if off because without S.A things will get both Economic and Political worse for our brothers and sisters who choose to remain, hence the Mbeki and Zuma debacles we South Africans chastise our governments for till this day. The unfortunate reality is that our Zim brothers and sister are actually competing with the poorest S.Africans for jobs. Many if not all of them are actually absorbed by the very same poor communities and as a result end up adding more strain on the medical and electrical supply in that area,. My Zimbabwean brothers and sisters stop drinking the potion of "middle-class" South Africans who are trying to undermine the S.African poor every chance they get, a South African whose actually in touch with the poor masses of South Africa just told you "How dare you, come into my house and take my mother to court", please understand the sentiment because what you are doing or trying to do offends us, and is alienating us from the Pan-Africanist cause. if you think you've seen xenophobia, think again. Together we can find a more prosperous way to live rather than squeezing each other for resources to survive which will create conflict we all don't want.

I cannot move into Checkers and expect them to give me a place to stay because I occasionally buy food there. I pay I go. Simple. And most importantly, they need us as much as we need them. Honestly, if they stop buying from South Africa where else can they buy? Let’s be rational here and stop scoring points. Arrogance won’t solve this issue. Finding common ground is the only solution. Stop taking South Africa to court because they are enforcing the law of their country, sit down and negotiate.

Surely there has to be a better of dealing with the matter than to have more people who may not be economically productive and beneficial to a country that is already overburdened with its own domestic challenges.

One question.I do not intend to offend anyone. Did Black South Africans change apartheid and the problems as a result of it? It took a very long time and grace for the White apartheid government to let go off power. Till date has everything been fixed? It is not a quick fix and so is the situation with Zimbabwe after a 'Liberation struggle' and a bush war fought by black Africans to remove white settler governments. You have a period of peace and prosperity then another big problem arises. South Africa is not immune to that too and does not live in a bubble. Both nations are totally interdependent on each other dating back in history economically ,politically and culturally. South African refugees were looked after in Zimbabwe for decades , receiving benefits and social housing in our time of prosperity, no one complained. Zimbabwe was bombed for protecting South Africans no one complained , never attacked or kicked out their guests. Zim trained freedom fighters for South Africa and supported it enormously as its neighbour never treating it a a stranger. Peace and love to all!

Removing the permits will increase all the problems, increase in illegal immigrants , increasing health risks and escalating the pandemic in South. It becomes a serious health hazard if illegal immigrants can not access public health services and houses and worse if they are unemployed . It also increases modern slavery which I'm sure South Africa is a signatory to the prevention of modern slavery if Zimbabweans work illegally in South Africa. My point is giving them permits and permanent residency to work freely will not just eradicate the issues I raised above , but will encourage free movement where Zimbabwean are free to return home. If they are illegal most will definitely remain in South Africa or underground. If an individual holds a permit he has better choices and options where he or she will definitely go home. Zimbabweans have been very welcoming to South Africa in the apartheid era, they received benefits as refugees on Zim soil no one complained. Zim was bombed ..remember the Avondale shopping centre bombing and others simply because Zimbabwe was looking after South African refugees..no one complained. South Africans in Zimbabwe gained a lot , worked, their children got the best education in Zimbabwe and still they returned home freely to South Africa simply because they had permits or refugees. No issues. Did anyone know when Apatheid who end at that time no. When things got better they returned home. Remember South African apartheid took longer than the Zimbabwean liberation. Yes Zimbabweans have their issues at home , it is just a matter of time just as South Africans went through decades of different dimensions of Apatheid governments to their liberation. South Africa does not exist in a bubble...if a gigantic tsunami floods South Africa not all South Africans will afford to fly to the UK or other Western Countries, the majority will definitely heard north to Zimbabwe and other neighbouring nations.Denying those permits is totally in violation of fundamental human rights which South Africa claims to uphold. It will even worsen the humanitarian crisis which may or has began happening due to the pandemic, serious health risk not only to foreigners but also spreading to South Africans if they are no better options to afford Zimbabweans access to work, better social housing ,health services and general livelihood.

@@gchimaks4404 thank goodness you don't live in SA, soo you are in no moral position to comment about things that don't concern you. Anyone who feels their lives are in danger should go to where it's safer. The funny part is the same people who claim they are unsafe, keep on crossing into SA and continue staying despite the fact that theirs lives are threatened..

I just have a simple question to the reasonable minded people and be honesty please.... Do you think if SA gvt remove all Zimbabweans back to their home, SA economy will be at a good state again?????? 🤔
Unfortunately, WISDOM doesn't stay where anger, hatret, jealousy and ignorance is function more.

It's only 180,000 permit holders ,these don't have a huge impact on jobs because most actually ru their own companies. In terms of resources they use private services mostly.

    Mr Chitando is so incorrect in almost all of his points and statements;
    - Most South African water and electricity comes from South Africa, only a small percent is bought from other countries.
    - South African economy is not tied to Zimbabwe, when the economy collapsed in Zimbabwe that didn't affect South Africa. South African economy can progress independent of Zimbabwe, however its always good for us to work together and build each other up.
    - South Africa's biggest trade partners ('customers') is China, UK, USA, Germany and many other African and European countries. Not doing business with Zimbabwe won't affect South Africa that much, so please stop making those treats, we are not trying to break ties with Zimbabwe we are simply saying fix your home land, Zimbabwe is a very beautiful country. Zimbabwe will rise again

Even before 🇿🇼 came to south africa their economy was the best, that's the reason why we went there in the first place.so I disagree with my fellow man who is saying the without 🇿🇼 South africa will be nothing.it was there even before we went there and it had the best economy.we as Zimbabweans we're using the power and fire at the wrong place nomatter how we can try to sweet talk ourselves. This fire and power it needs to be taken over the boarder.not in someone home.

kazi kwakhala nyonini kuwe mzonsundu kutheni inzondo engaka. The hatrage is so deep towards each other. This zimbabwean permits issue is a tool used by politicians to divert your attention by the time you are tired of this foreign issue they'll have find something to distract you again. So they keep you away from holding them into account, votes were done now can they start delivering their promises nope they push you to something to keep them going until another election.

We will always sympathies we our brethren. But Simba's reasoning is weak because it fails to deal with the core issue. This permit and that permit is the same permit. Also, we can trade with our brethren across the lines. Asking you to go home is not saying that we dislike you. We love you deeply but you must go home.

Let Zimbabweans stop buying SA goods. Come what may come. We have had enough. Nhlanhla tried, but failed to state intrinsic points ranging from unemployment, the fact that the ZEP holders majority are not scarce skills, crime rate- ( police:citizen ratio ), health- ( nurse:patient ratio ), education ( teacher: student ratio)
Also the fact that the permits were clear in terms of the end dates and the fact that they cannot be renewed and not a pathway to citizenship. So there was no expectation created by the government.
I guess one gets emotional and they forget the points they prepared.
