I am SO very sorry that you are going through this… it’s heartbreaking! You have both put your WHOLE heart & soul into your home & building the barn & many beautiful shelters for your animals. You are an exceptional couple…hardworking, kind, above & beyond. My thoughts are with you and many people feel the same.

This Maine woman says just list it! The new owners will have their own ideas of how things should be. Having bought and sold five houses in the last twenty five years....just sell it! We have sunk many thousands of dollars in getting houses "ready" for sale. Don't waste time, energy and money!

I didn't expect this and my heart sank a little. I love your homestead and you've enhanced this property in so many ways. It will be a quick and substantial financial sell. This is the time to do it. Hard times in this country may follow. I agree with you. The land is top priority, the house then follows. Freedom.

What exciting news! God blessed you with this property and you have lovingly worked on it keeping the era appropriate character! He will bless you again with another property. I respect so much that you are doing this for the animals! Disregard the comments about heartbreak and disappointment because it's not a loss. The animals will love more land to graze and run. What your father said is true. Another door will open.

We just sold our beautiful 1860s Maine farmhouse and 5.5 acre property (mostly meadow) in rural conservation Kennebunk. It sold to a cute couple from out of state who were tired of congested city life. It sold in under 2 weeks. The Maine real estate market for farmland is really hot. I wish you luck on your journey and hope you find somewhere that you and your animals will love.

Aw am so sorry. However nothing is wasted in real time. You have been wonderful caretakers for the house and have started to bring it back to life. That is a legacy in itself. We each have our own needs as to what we require for our living spaces and with the animals you have much more to consider. Even though you might not realistically be returning it to what you had originally envisaged for the house you have done a grand job with lots of love and full of heart. Using both your hands and your hearts. That is a noble and honest way of preserving something special. Its a shame that the land is not enough to sustain, and with the loss of peace and quiet I can feel your pain in this regard. Look forward to seeing your forthcoming work and hope that the right property suited to all your needs comes along soon. Tricia x

So sorry you have to move as you have created a beautiful paradise there. A lot of sweat and toil by you has given this property a new life. I do understand that bigger would be better in your situation, if you want to help more animals. It is a shame that people do not appreciate their animals and they have to put them into shelters. However on the flip side you folks have given a safe haven to so many animals and you can see they are respected and loved by you. Hope your plan comes together quickly for you. Government planning that allows an influx to the population is not always favorable for people who want to just live a quite and less imposing life. It seems they allow more people into the region without the services in place to deal with their need. I know where we live, for the last fourteen years, you can see condos and apartments being constructed around us and with that there is an increase of traffic flow and noise that we are not use to and had tried to escape from when we bought our 37 acre property in the woods. The sad thing is you cannot do anything about it as we have tried and you are ignored by government officials. I am sure you will find a quaint new farm that fits your needs perfectly. All the Best and I am sure all your fans look forward to sharing your new adventure. I know I am. I always say a home has a personality and you have a home that is a pure reflection of the people that own it. In your case - Gentle, Loving, Beautiful and truly excellent Custodians of nature. HAPPY JOURNEY!

Oh my. Caton NY, beside me, has about 35 acres of land for negotiation. Half is forest and half pasture. A woman has a horse stable on 30 acres beside that land and another horse sanctuary beside her. The ppl who bought the land did not want someone to buy and build a few houses, so bought to keep this rural. I'd love another horse stable near us. Unfortunately no house. Our house was built in 1868 so I have loved watching your restoration. It sits on 6 acres near these houses. We, too, have much to restore in this house and, like you both, must do it ourselves. It is a old Greek Revival. Good luck in your research! Also, I hear you about encroachment of building. Vermont many rich bought their vaca homes which made the ppl there have to pay higher taxes and prices.

I notice that folks in Maine like to plot their houses the closest to the streets as possible, and nearby to one another. At first I didn't catch onto to why until I realized the difficulty at navigating the snowfall when you are out further still. Of course, being isolated is part of the Seasonal Aspect of Living, that motion of a Great Rest for the Best which is yet to come! :)
I live in the Desert SW, I would love to know the Seasons....however, I can offer up that Wisdom that is Borrowed from Time begot, "The Grass is not always Greener on the other side", and so be careful what you wish for. It sounds like you have the Space, only too many Trees for what your needs are! That's a ton of Greenery! :)
I respect the need to keep animals, but when they keep you and you have to move, I would reconsider its own limitations. It is like any animal, they need a purpose too! Much Love from Las Cruces, NM...for me, there is always the Lottery! :) Thank you for Sharing your Dreams!

let you go if you assure us, with the back up of a lawyer, who is representing you as the realtor, assure us that you have a place to go because too many people get caught standing out in the rain in the field because their house sold in three days. Your house will sell immediately instantly too quickly to even possibly believe. Hopefully you know that you must have, another place to stay or live in something you have purchased or whatever before you put it on the market… money will not help.

I just now discovered your channel and watching this episode. It is horrible, in my opinion, how investors - people are molesting, literally molesting, beautiful areas and towns and all that with all their big bucks and making it so much harder for people that have already been living where they’re living to be able to continue to afford where they’re at and where they’ve been. The same as in my part of the country where I live now. I should not have to pay rising property taxes, and insurance because these big investors come in and buy up everything. Let them pay the higher taxes and leave us people alone that have been here for quite a while. Especially, before the pandemic! Two things that went wrong in this country: 1) having people not be present at their job site; working anywhere in the world of their choosing. 2) the Stock Market is no where near normal; love to see the market back to 9, 500 in trading. Would finally slap people off their high horse, and get them back to some reasonable structure and reality.

Kentucky maybe but if they want land without neighbors near them or to pay a decent price for a lot of land Tennessee is definitely not the answer, I live here and will be moving because of all the new private equity developments moving in by the tons. West Virginia would be the best deal.

I just came across this channel but... how are you going sell this small property and have enough money to buy a much bigger and more expensive one?

Could you maybe log off the timber on the 50 acres. Therefore take that money and put it back into the property.

Oh I just hate to hear that!🫤 I love this place & like you said you've put so Munich hard work into it! However I completely understand! And your decision is probably the best one you could make concerning the animals. And maybe you can find A place that don't need so much work on the actual house, or at least less work, allowing you guys not just more time for the animals, but more down time for yourselves.. that's important! That's what I loved about Tennessee, so many places to live where you have plenty of privacy! Florida is like Matt is talking about! The smaller, what used to be country areas are being bought up & either apt complexes or single neighborhoods are constantly being developed. The house my son lives in & this entire neighborhood used to be a ranch years ago. And what used to be a small town along with this whole county, used to be nothing but ranches & cow pastures. Now its all retirement communities everywhere, gated neighborhoods & apt complexes! Its so sad! Most of the original people have left & moved away, even out of Florida. Most of those here are from other states or out of the states. Florida is full of people from other countries! Lol I wish we could have stayed in TN honestly, i truly loved it there.. the land, the seasons, the people..i loved everything about it! We lived way out where there were only 3 other homes on the road we lived on & it was just beautiful there at our home, & the entire state of TN actually! I be here for your journey, i hope you guys will find just what you want & need.. soon! There was A huge poppy field just past the home we lived in back in TN. It was beautiful❤ When your heart knows, it knows! Again, you have to do what's best, for your family & extended family of animals! I pray blessings over you guys, that you'll be led to the perfect property & that someone will buy this property that will love it like you guys did & make it into the home you guys had wished for it!🙏🏻 Have A blessed weekend.😊
