I had a friend called 'Pengy'. Everyone called her that even her Mum. I only found out her real name in church on her and Kev's wedding day when the priest said, "Do you Carolyn Mallet..." I thought 'who the f**k is Carolyn Mallet?
I was called chihuahua. I was the smallest guy in the platoon and I would fight anyone. Also, if my platoon sergeant or squad leader told me to go hump someone's leg I would have to comply because of my nickname. That got me in trouble a few times.

I admire our military immensely, but like most civilians cannot fully appreciate what you go through -- and that's before you are even in combat. Thank you. "Only the Navy gets the cool names." -- Can't wait to tell my Navy brother that.

We had this expensive 6 day FTX with like 50-60 volunteers acting like villagers etc, and there was a guy who played the #1 HVT and I was my team leader on an unrelated operation. Long story short I spotted him on a road near a building and decided to take him out at the expense of two of my men. So they called me "Rambo" for like a month afterwards lol.
My nickname was Booger because I yelled so loud in boot camp that snot came flying out my nose and ended up on the Drill Instructor. That was a day I'll never forget.
We had a thing where we named vehicles , saw swamp pig written on a tank . So we wrote on our vehicles , my buddy and I. Wrote wagon on ours. It actually helps locate people or rally points , etc.
My first nickname ever was in my sophomore Weightlifting class and I looked like someone these guys saw at baskin Robbins so my name for the rest of the year was Baskin Robbins
He must be thinking about the coast guard or the air force because we didn't make up our own nicknames in the Navy. It was either from screwing up like he said or because of your looks.

I am a former army ranger. My nic was tin man because my first tour in Afghanistan, in the load out room I packed my mag vest with as many p mags as I could fit. Plus in my ruck sack. Coming out of the load out room my squad leader said I sounded like the damn tin man jingling walking around. Lol so it stuck.
