Cuba is one of the most successful countries in Latin America despite being under heavy sanctions. It has high employment, low poverty, some of the best education and some of the best doctors and despite being under sanctions, they still held up their internationalist duties and actively supported revolutions all over the world. Real Cubans are currently in mourning, you don't need to look far to see real Cubans actually crying in the streets because of Fidel's passing.

This man is a hero to me because he inspired and triggered revolution not only in his own country, but else where around the world. Being from Southern Africa, my ancestors were treated unfairly by our government and without Castro's interventions, we would still be under imperial rule.

FreakingSweeeet nicee a hero to and a fucking disgrace to the cuban community, this guy would speak about human rights in all his speeches but no cuban in cuba has human right my uncle went to prison for 15 years of his life just for saying that he disagreed with his thoughts. This same hero of yours has murder more than 10,000 cubans and thats not even half the amount of the people that has died trying to escape, so try to think about what kind of man your hero really is.

Bruno56 Of course, there's crime, but can you name a country that doesn't have any form of breaking laws? Hell even our goverment does it. My point is that we're free to go wherever we want, do whatever we want and be with whomever we desire! Those things alone wouldn't be possible without Fidel and the many people around the world that contributed to the abolition of apartheid.

Just because Cubans are not financially wealthy doesn't mean they are dirt poor. Look at Haiti vs Cuba. Haiti adopted the capitalist model and that place is in shambles.
Everyone is not compatible with the capitalist model so you shouldn't force it onto people.
Some people want, all organic food, high life expectancy, high literacy rates. Some people don't want to go nitpicking wars every year with other nations, they just want to be left alone.
It's stupid because ; why do want a lot of money? Answer, organic food is expensive.
    Answer, schools are expensive
    Healthcare, daycare, all expensive stuff.
But when all that stuff is free or next to free, why do you need a lot of money ? Why then if you already have the stuff you want why would you need money to buy them?

Men you should post this one comment all over cuban revolution, che guevara and fidel castro's interviews and any other reactionary capitalist critiques to communism. Right to the point: If one truly can live with the basic necessities, education and health care available and a few occassional commodities here and there why would he/she desire a capitalist regime? Thats exactly what they want: to force you to want, to spend, to be nonconformist and break your back for years to get a 'profit' that will go right bacl to them..

      Vinicio Blanco exactly comrade.
I only need to work one hour a day to feed my family, with aquaponics.
I only need to work 4 hours a day to have clothing and shoes and miscellaneous supplies.
All in all I only have to work 35 hours a week to completely supply my family with necessities.
People need to stop and think.
What are you going to do when the power goes out? When food isn't being trucked in to you? when water isn't being pumped in to you?
People don't know how to think for themselves at all, they just believe whatever propaganda the news spreads across the screen.

Fidel Castro was an amazing revolutionary. Although his first attack with his group of rebels had failed and he was exiled to Mexico with his brother Raul Castro and many other Cuban rebels he kept persistent. While in Mexico he planned with other revolutionaries like Che Guevara. He then headed back to Cuba where he took control and became Cuba's new leader in 1959. As soon as the United States got involved the situation quickly escalated. It all started when Castro seized "American Factories and other buildings that belonged to the United States." First off the US had no right to own land in Cuba. I believe that Castro did the right thing for both him and his people. I believe that every one of Castro's actions can be justified. Just put yourself in Castro's perspective and you will see how easily it is to agree with his actions.

Every country has corruption to some degree. Country without corruption does not exist. Compare how much corrupt was Cuba under Batista and under Fidel and see what was far worse. Fidel didn't bring starvation into Cuba but sanctions imposed by others did. He made sure people get best life that was possible under those horrible sanctions. He was not selfish and he gave all land he owned to people. For all Cuban problems, outside factor is to blame.

I believe that there is no country in the world including any and all the countries under colonial domination, where economic colonization, humiliation and exploitation were worse than in Cuba, in part owing to my country's policies during the Batista regime. I approved the proclamation which Fidel Castro made in the Sierra Maestra, when he justifiably called for justice and especially yearned to rid Cuba of corruption. I will even go further: to some extent it is as though Batista was the incarnation of a number of sins on the part of the United States. Now we shall have to pay for those sins. In the matter of the Batista regime, I am in agreement with the first Cuban revolutionaries. That is perfectly clear. ”

Or when he lowered the infant mortality rate from 42% to 4%? Or maybe when he created vaccines against cancer! Maybe it was when he made Cuba the ONLY country in the world that complies with ecological sustainability. Maybe it was when he made Cuba a classless society meaning that people actually have to give a fuck about eachother and rich people no longer had the privileges that they had and rich people can no longer take advantage of the ones struggling? I know that's like a real pet peeve for Americans! You know, actually I think that the day he made Cuba the only country in the world that was able to eradicate the mother-child transmission of HIV. Or perhaps when he sent thousands of Cuban doctors to countries all around on mission trips to help ? Maybe you should move to Cuba. I heard they have a great education system better than America actually. Seems like you kind of need it. :/

The revolution was not clean, but no revolution has been. The Batista regime is responsible for the conditions that brought about Castro and revolutionaries like him. The allegations of torture are true, at least during the times confined to the Sierra Maestra mountains. But when you consider that the regime they were fighting were slaughtering the civilians near them in an effort stop them, you can see why equal retaliation was used. Castro and his regime were directly supported by the vast majority of people, along with the things they did. The prisoners taken, and those that fled the country were people complicit in Batista's regime, and wealthy landowners who directly profited from it. His dictatorship was of course unfortunate, but nessesary given the countless attempts by America to end it. The dictatorship in Cuba is now nonexistent, the communist party is forbidden to take part in elections, local communities elect their own officials and representatives, and the general secretary his now a figurehead. The real power is separated between the Prime minister and President. Cuba is indisputably better than before, and nearly every Cuban living in the country sees it that way.

      @TheLandOfTears 11 ปีที่แล้ว

All those may be true, I don't doubt the fact that he committed crimes of his own.
But when I read about Fidel actions, it's like I am reading about Philip II of Macedon (Alexander the great's father). Many of the things Philip committed, Fidel did so as well, he made and unmade things, changed the orders, made the rich poor and the poor rich. And look at how people spoke of Philip after his death, they revered him as a great and accomplished monarch. Even today people believe Philip was a great monarch, the same will happen with Fidel, people will consider him to be a great leader.

Quien explota hoy? Quienes son los egoistas hoy?

People may hate him and say vile thing about him but the truth is this guy is one of the greatest leaders in the 20th century and the truth is that if you put politics aside and look at the things he did for people like helping the Chernobyl victims he ain't that bad of a human being, his actually was a great person! BTW Cuba loved him! If you think otherwise go look how filled was la plaza de la revolución in his honor!

At the beginning of 1959 United States companies owned about 40 percent of the Cuban sugar lands-almost all the cattle ranches-90 percent of the mines and mineral concessions-80 percent of the utilities-practically all the oil industry-and supplied two-thirds of Cuba's imports. ”

Good person, good ideals for the most part... sadly too much power got into his hands. That is the problem with Marxist-Leninism.

If the United Sates Government really wanted Castro overthrown, they never should have cut off diplomatic ties. In pretty much every country where there has been a CIA sponsored coup, there were embassies and consulates, to get the right people in. What is ironic, is Castro fought a guerrilla war in Angola, and Vietnam fought one in Cambodia. I despise communism, but if I has a choice between Castro's Cuba or Saudi Arabia, I would pick Cuba hands down. Baseball, beautiful women and great beaches, no wonder it's easy to keep the Cuban people happy.

***** I think the CIA and Castro's Intelligence Directorate are in collaboration in the drug trade.
