It's good to see. What ft. Bliss used to look like. I'm a history nut. I was born in 69. I remember I was with my dad. He was driving on Alabama St. I saw soldiers running in formation. During basic training. I was never a brat. My dad was honorably discharged. He was drafted in 1959. Us army went to basic training at fort ord California. First duty station was fort Richardson, Alaska. He was in ordnance supply clerk. I remember him saying. He was on guard duty. He was hearing a wierd noise. It was the waves hitting the rock. Haha. Thanks for the photos. From 1960 to 1970 I was a kid at Fort Bliss, except 1962/1963 when my dad was on a 1-year unaccompanied assignment to Korea and 1966/1967 when he was in Vietnam. Military brats really don't have a hometown, but Fort Bliss is it for me. I've only made it back a couple of times since then. Once as a USAF 1Lt I flew an F-15 into Biggs as a static display for a weekend airshow and the second time as a LtCol flying an F-16. Still took the time to drive around the post. Much had changed and, as I'm sure, still changing.

One time the train took you to Fort Bliss for Armoured forces day. The officers club had weddings and parties. It was a different time. 9 1 1 hadn't happened. There was a canon in memorial park too. Public parks were crammed on holidays. Cook outs and volleyball. Good times

My papa worked there for a long long time after his WWII service; and my wife's pop served in many of the missile defenses programs and taught at the air defense school. Thank you all for your service. I recall going on base many times with my dad and later with my wife's family, always felt like home. Still does whenever we get there, even with the changes!
I'm a Cajun from Eunice, Louisiana, but I was born on Fort Bliss, William Beaumont GH in '69. My Dad says I have "Dual Citizenship":. Born in Texas, grew up in Louisiana. BTW, my Dad is from Delcambre, Louisiana, and my Mom is from the Mamou-Ville Platte area. I love seeing these photos.

Thank you for sharing. Sure brought back memories for me. I was a Hawk 227 instructor, '61-'64 and lived in B Battery. Some of the photos you showed look like either A or B Battery School Support, just down the street from the LAM department.
Thank you for nostalgic photos of in 1968, I was dispatched from Japan Air Self-Defense Force to Fort Bliss to learn the TSQ-51 Missile monitor system for one year in 1971. After that, I worked in the Fire unit in Japan, so I surprised to see NIKE radars. Especially the picture in the BC van was exactly where I worked. I am planning to go to Fort Bliss next year. I'm really looking forward to it. Thank you for the wonderful photos.

I took 228 HAWK 2-68 Class with 2 Danish and many GI classmates and HAWK Simulator 4-71 Class with one Spanish and many German classmates. I would like to contact my classmates in these two Classes and the roommate (Korean , Lee Shui han) in Building 1001 to see if we have stories to share with.
Hi, Andy when you were in Fort Bliss? I was in 1971 and I had a very good friend Mr. Lee Korean and was in 226 I guess , but I know there are many Lee in Korea.....

I taught the first Taiwanese 227 class, probably in 1963. That class was going to set up the first Hawk battery in Taiwan. They were going to take some Americans back with them, and I got in trouble with Jarhead Lt. Colonel, who was the assistant commandant of the school, for asking if I could help do the set-up in Taiwan. It was supposed to be hush hush, and I was not supposed to know about it.

I met Mr. SASAZUKI (佐佐木樣）who came from Japan Self-Defense as well. I was 227 in a different class.

I was there i n 1970 for 16c10 training. Took lots of pictures but had my film confiscated. Did manage to keep a roll or two.
