New subscriber here. I must admit that initially I was bracing myself for an unsympathetic view of El Paso or even derogatory comments about the culture. Instead you gave us a thoughtful and inviting tour of some of the city's sights. El Paso often gets a raw deal from people who wrongly assume it's a dangerous border city, when in fact it consistently rates among the top 5 safest cities in the US.
I'm looking forward to watch your other videos. I glanced at your postings and you've really been around. On a personal note, I was born in Manhattan, raised in the South Bronx and lived in El Paso and Dallas. So I'm kinda eager to see your impressions of my hometown.

I really appreciate that. I've learned during my travels to embrace the culture and context of the places I'm visiting to find the positive. For example, I have never eaten in a restaurant in the US where the menu was entirely in Spanish and Chris and I were the only white guys. But I did in El Paso. As we fumbled through the menu, we were completely embraced by a lady at the other table who helped us order and told us what was good. Left with a sense of how people are the same wherever you go if you're willing to engage. Sounds cliché but my experiences continue to reinforce that from West Texas to East New York, despite our ideological and political differences we can still find common ground. Check out my Bronx video and tell me what you think. That was a cool experience. Thank you for subscribing and I hope you enjoy the content. I'll be up in New York next month. There's more to come!
