I've owned the Z8 for about 30 days now and am very pleased with it. For me, the user experience--how it feels in the hands, its weight, the responsiveness of the buttons & dials, for example--is just as important to me as the image quality and the functionality. I must say, the Z8 satisfies all of those conditions. I had the Z6 II for almost 2 years; great image quality, but I never warmed to the way it felt in my hands; too small, too much like a toy, too radically different from the feel of a DSLR, which I like; so I sold that the minute I got my hands on the Z8, which feels so much like a D500 or the classic D700.
Yes the Z8 is about the most 'right sized' camera I have used. I'm about to post a video of some testing I did with the Z8 and a 50 mm 1.8 . Really enjoyed shooting the Z8. It's the subjective part of the process that is hard to describe to others. Thanks for the comment!
Wash you shirts on either cold or warm wash, then never dry them. To dry your shirts, just hang them up out of the wash and put a fan blowing on them. I'm 6'4" with a long torso so I had to lern how not to shrink my shirts😄.
Thanks for the insights. I have a Z6II. Been on the fence on the Z8. I was hoping that it would have gps. No luck. I do alot of travel and I would like my pictures geo tagged- a deal breaker for me for the investment of a Z8. Hopefully the Z8 II will have that feature. Nice to see that the screen can be switched from vertical to horizontal- a requirement for me. I visit Kenmore pretty frequently and they are always super helpful. I went to Kenmore the other day and they had sold all their Z8 so I didn't even get a chance to hold one! Maybe next time..
The Z9 has gps. It's one of the few features from the Z9 that Nikon didn't anoint the Z8 with. Once you hold the Z8 it'll shape your opinion. I've never held a camera that fits my hand and has the right combo of heft and balance offered by the Z8. On the other hand, I'm not turning loose of my Z6 ii, still love that camera. Thanks for the comment!
Congratulations on your new Z8! My Z8 EVF seems stuck on View:Camera mode, in which the viewfinder brightness changes with exposure settings. I want to switch back to “Adjust for Ease of Viewing”, but when I select this menu option, the EVF still remains in View: Camera mode. How can I “unlock” this setting so that I can change it back to View:Adjust for Ease of Viewing”? Thank you.
I haven't seen that happen on mine. In the menu, restoring it to factory settings might help? Can you let us know if/how you solved this- Thanks for the comment!
@@folkartandcamera Well, after going into the Release Mode menu and selecting "L5", I can now see the View:"Adjust for Ease of Viewing" option/icon on both the LCD and EVF! I can now cycle between the 2 View Mode options. As for your suggested "Restore to Factory...", had I not made so many changes to the settings (Photo Shooting, Custom Settings, iMenu, Control functions, etc)., I may have tried it, but was hesitant to have to start again from scratch. This camera is probably the most highly customizable/configurable camera I've ever used. In any case, I appreciate the response.

Gerry you can geo tag your images off of your smartphone. Google it.

Sadly it's my physique, and probably not the clothes that produce this disheveled look. Thanks for the comment!
