In this video we'll be setting up a couple of cast iron frying pans for using with repousse projects. One will be the traditional backing material rosin 'pitch' (a bit harder) the other a paraffin & carving wax mix (a bit softer). We'll be dealing with hot liquids and this video is NOT meant as a safety course. (It's only an informal demonstration of how I pass the time in my own studio.) Thank...

    The top of my Christmas wishlist from Nikon would be a Z-mount version of the 180-400 f/4 with built-in 1.4TC. That would greatly simplify any decision regarding which wildlife-specific lens I should buy!

    • @folkartandcamera
      @folkartandcamera 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Skye_the_toller I comprehensively tested the Z 2.0 TC (in the field / owning it for several months) on the 600 6.3, 400 4.5, and 100-400. Sold the 2.0 TC after that as I wasn't really satisfied with it enough to use on any of these lenses. I suppose if I had to say which lens the the 2.0 did best on, probably the 400 4.5(?) We prefer the output from the 1.4 TC. Thanks for the comment!

    I’m another fan of not buying tripods with center columns. I’ve bought them with the column but never use them. I make sure the height of the tripod is eye level without ball head and camera.

    • @folkartandcamera
      @folkartandcamera 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @Speed-Cecil Now and again after I've gotten the leg heights set, the column comes in handy for just getting another couple inches height if it's needed. It's also handy if you want to hook on a weighted sack. Thanks for the comment!

  • @hot_pixel_imagery
    @hot_pixel_imagery 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You need to buy the right height tripod for your eye WITHOUT a center column. They are a point of weakness and instability. Get a tripod from a company like leofoto who have plenty of choices for high angle shooting or if you want to spend more for NO reason get a Really Right Stuff. Just my opinion don't ask me how I know this to be true. Leofoto LMP-324CL. This tripod is a dream come true for me. I urge you to take a look at these tripods. So much better. I used to shoot on a top of the line Sirui. Try one and tell me that I am wrong.

    Hello! Congrats and appreciate the purchase of the Leofoto monopod. I have to say, I will be surprised if it does not work out for You. Of course only You can judge that for yourself. B&H of course will take care of You, but buying direct from Leofoto affords One a generous return policy, as well as Stellar Customer Support. Looking forward to the footage from the ReoLink. The Hummers in my area are pretty much migrated on. I will miss them! Always enjoy your footage, but the two clips of ‘Rocky,’ were great! Loved it! Enjoyed the birds as well. Take care and looking forward to your feedback on the Monopod. A ,or of people seem to ‘brush off’ the use of a monopod, but it can be very versatile, and you touched on a few things here. I have used one at chest height for added stability, and of course, if contact with the ground as intended, can work very well, especially with longer lenses, in lees light conditions. Stay safe!

    The fully-articulated monitor has at least two advantages over the Z8 monitor: It folds inward against the camera back for screen protection and its more flexible for those of us who primarily shoot in portrait mode, high and low angle.

    • @folkartandcamera
      @folkartandcamera หลายเดือนก่อน

      @garythebadger First off, thanks for the comment! Second, incorrect, no advantages! The Z8 will do flip high and low angle, better than Zf because it is aligned with the viewfinder AND can hinge outward. (I own both and have tried it.) Also, I used to think the folding-in aspect was an 'advantage', but now I know it is inconsequential. The Zf is a lower tier camera in every aspect. I do still like it though. You have my invitation to subscribe to the channel, however, since your comment passes the threshold for reasonable discussion.

Title is completely misleading, you're reading from a piece of paper and can't even memorize a simple X100 VI, 5 minutes talk about 6 vs VI ... don't have anything in hand to showcase for it and mentions ZF but shows pics from different thing altogether... The problem is that technology evolved but camera world stuck 10years behind and the people who owns them 20years behind that. I had X100VI and returned it, the problem is not bashing X100VI but the fact that this video was one of the non-content things that i've watched in YT history...

    The 24-200 was my first Z lens as I when I went mirrorless I was coming from a 28-300, nifty 50 and a few wide Rokinon primes with my D750. It took some getting use to with f6.3 as my 28-300 was f5.6 on the long end but no IBIS. So I think that's where Nikon were trying to get with a lot of former 5.6 lenses now 6.3. Overall it is still my go to travel lens along with my 28-75. I can't really justify the 70-200 with all the weight lugging that around whilst traveling. I was tempted to go with the 24-120 but I got way too much overlap in that department.

    • @folkartandcamera

      @Ben_Stewart Thanks for the comment! I can also do without the 70-200 due to size and weight. Give additional thought to the 24-120. It may be worth trading in some of the others you have that overlap it...

    @georgedavall9449 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hello there! Yes, I believe You have experienced and summed up what most people have experienced with the 24-200 lens. It is a good all rounder, and my copy ( purchased from NIKON USA Refurbished ) works Ok on my Z7. I have not tried it on Video, and I would say it does not have the best VR, compared to the other lenses You mentioned. It does alright on Stills, but it is a budget friendly lens, and my main issue with it is the ‘loose/sloppy’ if you will, Control ring. I happen to like the Control ring aspect of these new Z lenses, but this one is too easy to move, on the 24-200. There have been good reviews of the lens, but also some really bad reviews. I have and use the regular Z28mm f/2.8 lens and it does make for a svelte setup on my Z7, and whilst not a tack sharp lens, it does have character. Huge difference between the handheld video clips, and the one on the tripod, which was very good. Mr Bunny was very clear, and especially considering it was in DX crop. ENJOYED the footage at the end. Loved it when the ‘Rocky’ dropped one of his peanuts, and looked down over the railing! Whatever ‘spooked’ the crow made the Rocky in background flee as well. Great stuff! That crow appeared to be rather large. he was thinking, “I can just carry that GoPro right off into the Wild Blue Yonder!” 😯 😂 Enjoy your Labor Day weekend. Youre so lucky to live in a great area, and close to Kenmore Camera!

    Having trouble with the "math" here. With the DX lens on the FX Z8 body, I know the image resolution is reduced, but are you seeing the same zoom range? My current thought is that it would still be a 12-28mm focal range that you see through the viewfinder, just producing a 19mp image rather than 45.7.

    • @folkartandcamera
      @folkartandcamera หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TravisCorriher. Don't struggle with the math. Admittedly, shooting a cheap-ish Dx lens on the Nikon Z8 was really more of a parlor trick. If I hadn't already traded the 12-28 and the Z30 off, I'd pop the 12-28 on the camera to make sure what you're asking... Thanks for the comment!

      @rdphoto2 Tend to stay with native glass, even back during my Fujifilm & Canon eras. I, too, am intrigued by new gear and gadgets...but I have to admit not always choosing correctly. Thanks for the comment!

    Question, what would you replace the 28 2.8 with for better image quality? Thanks

    • @folkartandcamera
      @folkartandcamera หลายเดือนก่อน

      @felm.974 #1 would be the 35 f1.8 . both the 14-30 and 24-120 are also way better at 28mm. thanks for the comment!

      I have the 14-30 and 24-120. Both are excellent quality lenses that produce great results.

    600pf is sharper than the 400 f4.5 with 1.4tc attached. If your using a Teleconverter 50% of the time or more) you needed the longer lens... hence why the 600pf exists

      @rdphoto2 the 1.8 line of lenses seem to make a lot of sense, although I do admire the 50 and 85 1.2s as well. But those lenses(like the Plena) look like a lot to tote around. and $$$ pricey. thanks for the comment!

    I found a used Canon adaptor to EF mount and have the original 50mm lens on a DSLR. I will compare the difference. I also have the original Nikon nifty 50mm lens that I will try on my Nikon D70s. It is not always convenient to walk forward or backwards to get a shot. I do use a 24mm prime for performers in costume for record shots where I have the full theater floor to move about.

    I have a Z8, and I'd rather put my money into the 100 to 400 right now cause I primarily take action surf shots. However, I do like to take wide-angle scenery shots of the beach, landscapes, and sunsets. This lens is soooo much less expensive. I'll be using a tripod and can easily move backward for more of the picture to be in the frame. I believe, oh, an FX, would be cut down to an 18 MM. I do have the standard 24 to 120mm now. Would you say this would be fine for more recreational use till I save up for the 14 to 24 FX lens?

      @folkartandcamera 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Bonend482 Made this video a while back and a couple things have shifted...Z30 and its lenses were traded off. You mentioned having 24-120. That's one of my go-to lenses. It stays on the camera more than any other lens. The 100-400 is top tier quality. I still have it and shoot it frequently. Thanks for the comment!

      @@folkartandcamera@folkartandcamera Okay, thank you! I decided to go with the new 100-400 on a no-interest payment plan with a 3-year warranty cause that is the lens I will use most for my passion for surf photography. I also got myself the FTZ II mount adapter cause there are still some pretty awesome f-mount wide angle lenses that I could get used that are full-frame and also a lot less expensive than the current z-mount wide angle.
