    My first Alfa Romeo was a brand new 1969, 105 Series, 1750 Spider Veloce {Yes, I'm that old ... LOL!] Today I have a Trofeo White Metallic over Red/Black Giulia Ti Sport with the Performance Package [Q2]. At eighty, I still drive it like I stole it!

      @@Tannnnman I lied! I had a stroke three months after I took delivery of my Giulia which stole my depth perception. A year later, the MVD was prepared to renew my driving permit based on my being able to read a row of letters. I declined. The clerk was shocked!
      Early on I self-taught myself to NOT use the 'reflex' method of driving. Instead I used the 'vector' method where my brain was constantly comparing my own vector and speed with the perceived vectors and speeds of the vehicles around me and mentally assigning priorities. My rule for myself is, "If it is moving (whatever 'it' is), monitor it."
      I treat other vehicles as if obstacles to be avoided. [A friend observed that I, "fill the holes (gaps in the traffic)"]. I've always assumed that other drivers are using the 'reflex' method and thus are not focused on the driving and, given my luck, will drive into me and claim they "didn't see me." Following the stroke, I was unable to judge how far away an oncoming vehicle was nor estimate its speed such that making a cross-traffic left-turn became so gut-wrenchingly difficult I simply stopped driving. One excursion did it and I turned around and drove home. It was a no-brainer.

    If you have the ability, change your own oil, it’s no different than any other car. The filter on the 2.0L is the same as the Jeep wrangler with the same engine. 0w-30. It’s something like 16 screws to remove the skid plate, remove the oil filter with a normal filter remover, and the drain bolt. Get some ramps from harbor freight.
    All in, about $100 in tools and about 30 mins of your time. Easy

    I was scared to get one and got a Genesis G70 instead. My 2018 Genesis is like a Toyota, no issues yet and still going strong in 2021 !!! I know it is only 3 years but little things I pick up on, like when I turn the A/C on I hear no clicks in the compressor clutch, I hear no pulses in the engine firing, and I feel no vibrations. That means the car is Toyota like reliable. Only in Toyota products the engines runs clean for a long time, this Genesis I have is just like it. I've been through BMW, Ford, and have owned 1 Audi though, I lease them but over like 2 years of those cars, I can feel the engine going downhill, I can hear the compressor clutch click, I can hear a pulse fire in the cylinder banks, and I can feel a difference. 🤷🏽‍♂️ HOWEVER now that I'm done ranting, I want to try out the Gulia. The car looks very sexy, I might lease it, but see how it goes from there.

    Decades ago, I bought a new '79 Spider. I bought an Extended Warranty, after my 6th trip to the Dealer I figured out my Extended Warranty was WORTHLESS! If the shop cannot repair your car the warranty has little value. I found a one-man shop locally that specialized on Alfa's and took it to him. He made the car sing! After that I followed him for the next 5 years until I grudgingly sold the Spider.

    Wait wait wait, why tf are you guys taking your giulias to the dealer for an oil change? It’s literally like 20 bolts for the plastic cover and then the drain plug? 😂😂😂 I did that shit myself in 30 minutes and that’s because I didn’t have a jack and had to be in such a tight space with ramps. Bruh. Just do it yourselfs, not tryna sound like a know it all but I’m deadass not the smartest guy when it comes to mechanic stuff. I just felt proud of my Giulia and wanted to take a look under, basic knowledge and a couple of metric sockets and you can do it yourself. • @AlfaAK101
      @AlfaAK101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A dealer must be able to prove that a mod has caused an issue which then they can void warranty. They cannot deny warranty work due to mods. The best thing to do is take some of the oil and get it tested by an oil testing company like Blackstone. They'll tell you, based on additives and oil condition, how long you can go with your oil.

    • @tommynobaka
      @tommynobaka 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      tbh, oil changes are relative based on how often and how hard you strain the engine. Obviously heavy strain in a short amount of time is going to deplete the quality of the oil. Think about racing, it's heavy load and at the track after a day, you need to change the oil regardless of how much miles you've done because the oil loses it's efficiency.
      Like someone already said, get a sample and send it to a chemical lab and it will reveal how broken down the oil is and any contaminants that shouldn't be there (health of the engine - copper and other materials).
      Some people do oil changes ever 3k miles, or every 3 months. Some people do every 10k miles or every 6 months, some people follow dealer guidelines and do yearly. Personally, I think yearly is a huge stretch let alone 12k miles oil change.
      I base my own oil changes and how hard I've driven the engine and frequently check the dipstick atleast twice a month. That will give you a good idea on the health of your engine from an eyeball test. I do every three months, but that's just me because I don't drive often, but I do drive hard. As in I don't do a lot of miles, but alot of hard miles. That necessitates frequent oil changes. My needs are not the same as yours, so don't take it as gospel. I work on all of my cars myself and have long experience on the health of cars from every aspect to oil, to suspension, drivetrain etc. This is just my opinion
      I hope this information helps you.

    So i get I can do the 20k service at an alfa for a very fair price. But i have heard the 30k service is mad expensive, spark plugs and all? Is it better to do that at another workshop? Would that still go on the carfax and would it be hard getting warranty claim on it if it goes bad?

    • @AlfaAK101
      @AlfaAK101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Figure out what needs to be done in the 30k service and have a trusted shop do it for cheaper and or buy the parts and take it to that shop. You doing any service at any non Alfa dealership or service shop will not effect your warranty - just keep your receipts. It won’t go on the Carfax though, if and when you sell your Alfa just provide the buyer with the service paperwork and receipts. It is rare that you’ll have a warranty claim on items that are in the maintenance intervals like spark plugs but in case you do it won’t be hard to claim warranty
