Unfortunately that’s the japanese idol industry in a nutshell. All their talents are just products. And once they’ve done the intial advertizing, they don’t care to invest in the product any further.
There may be a few companies that do further invest in their talents, but they’re few and far between. And even those don’t usually spend too much of their own money to do it.

@@Zeke1460 There's a difference between "not further investing in their talents" and "actively preventing the talents to invest into themselves". Most only do the former, Kurosanji does the latter. In fact, as seen with Selen, they're even going a step further, shutting down projects that their talents have already completed and invested money into because "it wasn't whitelisted by management". I hope future talents joining up to Nijisanji learn their lesson: The company only exists to exploit your novelty, so only use the company to catapult you into the spotlight and use that to find a better long-term employer asap.

I'm a bit out of the know as I haven't really watched many streams from Niji talents, but that was eye opening. And then later to hear about what happened with Selen's privated stream. Again, I don't even watch her and I heard the splash back of how badly their management f'ed up.

The part where she says 'not here' i think is the saddest part of all. Obviously she's gotta be kinda cryptic about it, but it's very hard to not trace the lines to opportunities being unavailable while being in Nijisanji, which is a crazy thing to think about. A company of that size being literally unable to secure new opportunities for itself and its staff because its focus is clearly elsewhere.

I wish it was just them being unable to secure opportunities. That'd be a bad flaw but an honest one. Everything that we got to know about the company this past year indicates that the opportunities are very much present and available, but for some godforsaken, inexplicable reason Nijisanji is actively cutting their talents off from them and sabotaging personal projects. It's like, they want their brand entirely self-contained with neither the talents or other companies building on it. NijiEN had so much potential. So so much. With how well things were going for some time, and how much more tailored they were to a western audience, I could even had seen them outgrowing HoloEN. But their long list of awful mistakes and their inability to learn from them damaged the branch to a point of beyond saving. Reputation-wise 100%.

I knew frustrations were mounting but this exact moment was the first time I feared that she might actually be leaving. I coped by telling myself she loves Nijisanji, her friends, and her community too much to actually do it, but it seems I sorely underestimated her ambitions for something more and the frustrations of feeling stagnant and held down, likewise for Mika.
Even though I’m positive both of them will appear again in some other form, I can’t help but mourn the effective death of Pomu Rainpuff and Mika Melatika as I knew them; They rocked those avatars as extensions of themselves so well. They don't have high turnover rate, 85% of their talents in JP are in there. Id and kr died as a branch so they had mass gradations while in EN while its mismanaged they only lost 3 leaving by their own choice.

    • @Inufan337
      @Inufan337 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@ausgod538 Across their entire company they had a graduation or termination EVERY month last year. Yes, with the shotgun method they take to debuting talent, the numbers percentage-wise won't catch up to them for a good while but pretending there aren't massive issues within the management side of things is blind faith at best. Anycolor has a history of poor and/or bizarre decisions on the upper-management levels across all of their branches. From older issues like the Mururu situation and newer ones like Gundou on the JP side, to cutting the legs out from under ID and KR, a fate which now could very well be looming for EN as well. It's becoming more and more apparent that the business strategy of throwing a ton of talent at the screen and seeing which ones stick has rapidly blown past what they have the management infrastructure to effectively support, but despite this Anycolor seems to have no inclination to pivot from the strategy. Throw on top of that their impeccable ability to completely ignore optics and consistently burn down the good will of their communities and it's a perfect storm for negativity to fester. Time will tell just how much this comes to bite them, but if only for the talents' sakes I very much hope the powers that be in Niji can right the ship.

That annoyance comes with the benefits of joining a big company, I guess. But to imply it's on the same level of what Nijisanji does is simply not realistic. Nah, Konami is incredibly JP centric: Calli, despite being EN, got the gig because she literally lives in Japan, is signed with Universal Music Japan (huge visibility), and has worked with japanese musicians for years.
What's more likely is that Pomu, who's known for being a total idol nerd, something that's way more niche than MGS so they will be on the lookout for any new way to get popular, got noticed by some idol production company or agent, was contacted about doing a concert or at least a couple of original songs with a major idol singer that Pomu admires, but Nijisanji being what they are, ignored it and refused to follow through, making that offer vanish.
If it was Konami instead, Nijisanji would have likely rolled out the red carpet: NijiJP already worked with Konami, Konami owns the rights on many high profile games (perms), and could also provide preview accesses and perms to streamers for new releases.
When Pomu mentioned a "once in a lifetime opportunity", and seemed so devastated, it points towards something related to idols rather than MGS: the Metal Gear Solid franchise isn't disappearing, it will be there in 2024, it will be there in 2025, so it could have happened later on if needed.
Meanwhile, idol groups rarely last long: they peak out in under 5 years of existence, with 2-3 albums making it to the front page at max - if Pomu was asked to participate to one of their event, it's very likely that idol group will no longer exist by the end of 2024, with all its members retiring. Same goes with the exceptional revival of a few famous idols: they do a brief comeback for a year, have less than 10 concerts, then it's over for good. If Pomu was offered to join them, it had to happen then and there.
Maybe the deal required a joint production, at least for Anycolor to pay for the 3D studio and mixers for the recordings, and the upper management laughed at that idea. Thing is, Pomu went into the vtubing business for the streaming fun, sure, but also as a way to connect to the idol world - it was her passion for years before Nijisanji, and will remain a major part of herself - if Anycolor made it clear that she wouldn't be able to access the idol world (with songs and concerts) at Nijisanji, it makes complete sense that she would decide to quit then.

Its hard not to think about what could have been, it must have been a huge bubble bursting and disappointment, being accepted into your dream job and slowly realizing that you can do everything right and still lose. Some doors once closed will never open again for Pomu or any of us. I dont believe that Pomu will come back, at least not for a long time. I only hope that she can find the drive and inspiration again.

Someone with the creative drive like hers shouldt be restrained, but encouraged. She proved time and time again that she's capable of amazing things, even if they come out of her own pocket.
So going to where she can actually be supported to achieve the goals she set for herself more than as a streamer but as an entertainer, is definitely the right direction after all the growth she got and the validation she got from being given an audience.
She deserves it, she deserves all the love and support and she deserves to go forward with whatever goals she sets for herself from here on!

Pomu was one of the few Vtubers that I would actually watch on stream when I saw her doing something I was into, and she was always entertaining and had me smiling. I'll miss her and wish she hadn't had to leave, but hope that her life will be better off elsewhere. With any luck we'll see a different studio pick her up, as we all know she certainly has the talent and drive to engage with viewers and make our days better, perhaps even going independant and able to do her own thing without worry.

That's what happens when you are in a company... you get known, opportunities will come to you, but at the same time, management will deny you of them when they feel like it... even if you are well paid and have a good fanbase, if you are really looking forwards to things and they get constantly denied to you it can hurt so much. I believe she will try to go indie and if she does it will go well.

Listening to Matara talk about her new management at VShojo, it's super obvious that the Niji staff are beyond incompetent and disinterested. It's like they don't want their own talents to succeed. I hope Pomu gets to do so much more cool stuff now that she's free of this ridiculous burden.

And the sadder part is that EN already knows management is pretty shit, but they either can't acknowledge it openly, or they simply don't want to give up their job for reasons of their own.

On one hand I wish this opportunity was the MGS Collab, that would mean Pomu was noticed and Konami was willing to make a smart choice and go with a content creator that loves the series. On the other hand I wish it wasn't, it would be too cruel to deny Pomu of this knowing how much she loves the series. But whatever it was, I hope she'll be free to take whatever opportunities she wants in the future.

I can't help thinking how crazy hot she would get (she's already so amazing) if she were in an agency like hololive that invest a lot in their talents and provide alot of support. Maybe not exactly, but Pomu's situation reminds me of Suisei when she was in Inonaka before getting transferred over to Hololive. Nijisanji gives me the impression of quantity over quality. Maybe their business model is less working on their talents, and more about finding that golden egg. Hire alot, retire alot. Rinse and repeat.
