    Make sure you keep checking your Carrier tail on your bolt carrier. The ALG hammer is harder than your tail and over time will deform the tail. The best way to correct this , is by sanding the hammer with and sanding tip on a dremel and sand the hammer and give the face of the hammer a smooth curve. After that Polish it with some polishing compound and your tail will last for lengths of shooting.

      Thanks for the heads up. I did re-contour the hammer and polish it. Hopefully that’ll be enough. Thanks for watching!

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AlphaRomeo-OneFive It’s possible, but most likely your barrel will need work as the threading is usually not concentric. I shipped my Draco out to Class 3 machining and had it back in a tad over a week. Had it re threaded to 1/2x28 since Rugged doesn’t offer a 14MM LH muzzle device. Pretty sure Dead Air does, so you may just be able to have your existing threads cleaned up. The other thing recommended is an adjustable piston to fine tune the gas.

    • @AlphaRomeoOneFive
      @AlphaRomeoOneFive 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChristianGrest Seems like so much work, to bad you can't just slap them on like an AR. If I do get around to it, it'll be a ways down the road, thanks for the detailed response 😁 Maybe I could just do it Mrgunsngear style with a form 1 and oil filter 🤔😉

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AlphaRomeo-OneFive it’s not too hard, just need to check your barrel concentricity.

  • @ArmedApe
    @ArmedApe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thumbs up for sure. Really came out looking nice. Question though, is the gas adjustable piston worth the investment in time and money? Curious about your thoughts on it so far.

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! As far as the piston, mainly went with it because I knew my ultimate goal was to suppress it. Having a way to adjust gas when running suppressed is almost a “must have” in my opinion. The piston is very easy to install. You can find them on sale for $135 ish. Which really isn’t much more than what an adjustable gas block costs for an AR. I love to tinker anyways, nice to have the ability to fine tune a rifle/pistol.

      @ArmedApe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChristianGrest looks amazing. The upper and lower handguards, did the original come with those or did you swap them out? They look like the ones on my Blackheart, which I got off the market place on the files. All around, high quality.

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I swapped them years ago. They came from overseas. It originally had the basic Romanian hand guard. I love the Russian laminate furniture... really makes a rather ordinary AK stand out in my opinion.

    Draco/PAP owners!!!
    Anyone think a Wolff +15% XP recoil spring is a better idea when adding a booster muzzle brake (specifically a Bulgy 4 piece) opposed to a new factory spring, to keep it from beating up the trunnion and to tame the cycle rate?
    My buddy has asked me and I'm stumped. Being braced, besides the extra gas that the booster brake sends as extra cycle pressure, he wants to cut down on recoil aswell but doesn't want to risk the +15 XP (extra power) to cause short stroking if the extra gas from the 4 piece Brake isn't enough to fully work out the XP spring. Said Tula would be the lowest quality ever used... Not sure if it gets much lower tho.... 🤔
    Any advice?

    • @ChristianGrest
      @ChristianGrest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, adding a more powerful recoil spring will slow it down, but I really think going the KNS piston route like I did would be better as you’ll have the adjustability to fine tune it. I know it’s a lot more than a recoil spring, but well worth it.
