      My grandfather has some stories from Vietnam, and they’re pretty wild. There’s one in particular that stuck with me. He dropped into the jungle at night (he was a PJ), and was on his way to wherever. Only the sound of the jungle and footsteps, until he heard that distinctive ‘click’ of the safety disengaging all around him. He doesn’t like to talk about what happened after that, but I’ve gotten bits and pieces. Only him and one other guy made it. I can’t help but get goosebumps whenever I think of that story.

    The first time I have fired a full auto M16 in the Philippines, it made me chills. But firing a captured Communist rebel AK47, I was jumping for more like a kid. The experience 35 years after still gives me a lifetime experience. Today, I know it was not the original Russian AK but a Chinese AK. Who cares, what I care it has a full auto selector. 20 years here in the US, I have not fired any full auto rifles. It will give me the chills just to hold one. That's going to be the icing of my semi auto rifles collection, a tried-and-true full auto. Yes, there are some being sold or auctioned but the chances of getting one in the open market is rare and expensive. I don't want the FBI checking my bank accounts of my gun purchases.

    I remember fighting in Afghanistan and ISO OIF, our M-16s were much more accurate than the 47 and 47 versions held against us. When clearing rooms, and firefights at close range the 47 was much more effective. The 47 would pierce through walls, and anything you thought might provide cover. Frags were the only thing that was keeping us alive when in close quarters.

    My father was part of the Algerian Military he was was issued either a (Algerian made)Russian AKM or Chinese Type 57. He said he enjoyed them both. he said the best part was that Algerian solders could easily disable them and understand their mechanism. He himself got a record for disassembling and reassembling his AK. Btw typically the Algerians removed the built in Bayonet cause it was basically useless in the desert and Mediterranean landscape.

    I remember when the Norinco AK's were commonly imported in the late 80's/ early 90's and then that importation was banned which also stopped the chinese SKS and tokarev clones from being imported. They were so cheap back then but I was just a child at the time. The quality was far superior to that of the Romanian Aks which were imported later. The Norinco is about as close as one can get to a Vietnam era NVA/VC Ak, provided it was the milled receiver version as the Norinco also has the correct tri-blade bayonet. Whats ironic is Norinco has continued to be imported into Canada since the Us import ban.

    Nice gun, i have the only Russian 1.6mm stamped AK, its the early ISD Bulgaria, Armory U.S.A SSR-85C-2 it is a Hybrid AK47 built from pristine Type 3 decommissioned Bulgarian Ministry Of Defense, AK47 rifles, then imported to Armory U.S.A in Houston Texas, as single stack rifles, and Armory U.S.A milled out the mag opening to dead on exact AKM Specs for double stack mags, People like to call them "Parts Kits" but they were all done on an assembly line under the supervision of Ivan Kolev, Cheif engineer of Arsenal of Bulgaria, that designed the 1.6mm receiver, which before them the only other to do that were the Chinese like your rifle, The SSR-85c-2 rifles have the best AK47 parts like the complete barrel assembly, Styer processes Cold Hammer Forged Chrome Lined barrel, sights, top cover, bolt and carrier, and trigger group parts from unissued Bulgarian Ministry Of Defense Type 3 AK47, with an AKM stammped 1.6mm receiver trunnions, trigger guard, and AK-74 style stock set, it really is a Beautifuly nice rifle, Afer Armory U.S.A sold off, the later guns are marked TGI and are not of the same quality at all.

    It is simply fear that makes these ridiculous laws, fear and a healthy dose of 'not my problem, guns aren't my hobby'. How is a semi-automatic any less dangerous than a select-fire model? Always the anti-gunners will call back to the atrocity in Las Vegas and the fact the monster who carried out that concert shooting was using a bump stock. Therefore in their mind he burned through more rounds than if he hadn't been. Which is utter rubbish of course. He may have shot them quicker--perhaps--but anyone who is conversant with a semi-automatic rifle can send a huge amount of lead downrange and often far better aimed than with a bodged together pseudo-automatic.
    But of course the truth is they want to ban _all_ firearms, semi-automatic and select-fire alike. The Hughes Amendment and the NFA itself are just stepping stones along their way towards that goal. The thought of losing those unconstitutional inroads into the 2A were they ever repealed is probably unbearable to them. Nonetheless I believe there is a movement to do just that underway at the moment so... Who knows? Maybe?

    • @morelenmir
      @morelenmir 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Power to the people Yeah... Did you read my comment?
      That claim is certainly what the mass media tries to represent. However John himself has demonstrated many times here how high a rate of fire you can coax from a semi-automatic rifle without _any_ bump stock. That is kind of my point....
      Plus, should access to select-fire rifles really be determined by the actions of one mad-man? Actions of which I am certain not a single chap who watches Hickok's channel approves. Those monsters are hated just as much if not _more so_ by the firearms community than they are by the anti-gunners.

Recently got the quick release optic mount that attaches to the left side of the receiver and installed a red dot. I can quickly remove the optic and use the side folder to use it as a pistol and iron sights.

    Once upon a time a guy was working in a neighborhood. He saw a homeowner cleaning out his garage and loading guns in a suv. So he stopped and talked to him cause he had to work on his house power too anyway. The two talked for a bit and after a few minutes the guy said to the homeowner well if you want to sell anything let me know. The homeowner said well money talks. The guy responded well I always carry about 3 grand with me so let me know you never know what you can find sometimes. Well about an hour goes by and the homeowner comes over and says you be interested in an ak? I don’t need it. So the guy says yea I’ll look. Goes into his garage and sees those green letters on the bottom of a short brown box. Made in China. Immediately he knew what that was. Maybe not the exact model but norinco. So he opened the box and to the guys surprise the gun all 3 mags the knife the bottle and sling were all still in the plastic. A norinco type 56s unfired still in plastic. The guy says well I got a wasr 10 but you know I put some stuff on it etc and yea I don’t really need another but hey how much you want for this? The owner said I think I paid 600 for it in about 1986 or 87. Right about that time the guy finds the original receipt in box for 599$ sold July of 89. So the guy says well it is brand new and I think most aks are going for between 600-1000 these days. The owner instantly says well so give me 800 for it. And the guy says how about 7? The owner put his hand out. So the guy pulled out his bad mofo wallet. Racked out 7 bills handed em to the owner and I WALKED AWAY. True story…………….. happened about a year ago and still I haven’t the slightest idea of what to do with it.

    Summer of '84, Ft. Knox, Ky. Warsaw Pact weapons familiarization included a number of their munitions, small arms, & a heavy machine gun. I fired a Chinese SKS carbine (solid milled receiver) & a Romanian made AKM, also learned the "trick" of laying down effective fire with an AKM. I was favorably impressed. We sent a lot of rounds downrange that day & NOT a single one of those weapons malfunctioned!

    also unique to the type 56 is the RPK pattern of the rivets and just to keep hickoks stock from getting loose there is an easy trick i learned from Robski aka the AK Operator where you take some wood chips like when youre carving something with a knife and unscrew the stock and then put the fibers or wood chips together with the screw back in and it automatically tightens up pretty good and keeps the stock from getting loose. anyway nice video i love the AK platform and the type 56 is one of top 3 AKMs of all time!
