That brass cart at 2:41 was by far the coolest, most unique brass piece I have ever seen, and this is coming from someone who doesn't like brass at all. I would actually put that in my home. The dog figurines, however, I am crazy about because I collect them!!!!
I buy items to style in my own home or give as gifts. I’m always looking for unique pottery, plant stands, and plant containers. Living in the Southwest, the architecture of my homes has always dictated how I shop for home decor. I love spending a day at an antique mall and second hand stores. I’m glad I’ve found your channel as it’s helping me to appreciate the vendor and their side of marketing.
You are so right about the brass!! It has been selling great for 6 months and I expect it to continued till after the holidays. I am surprised about your mirrors not selling, as I am still selling mirrors. I only have 1 large mirror left in my booth. I am seeing the farmhouse trend slow down here in North Texas, along with a return of natural wood. Thank Goodness! We still sell painted furniture, but it seems to be a 50/50 mix with the natural. Wall Artwork is selling in all varieties, and we are still selling architectural pieces. I so enjoy your videos, love seeing your sweet smile! Sending Hugs your way! Linda D.
One day I worked at the mall where my booth is, thinking this might be a good chance to see what is selling. It was amazing at the different stuff people bought! And there was not anything that was what I would call a hot item or even connected to each other. I think having a variety is good but also staging and having a couple of styles where items fit together; like antique and rustic kitchen items. Melody, your videos are so inspiring and helpful.
Around me I see farmhouse pulling in two directions. It’s either more modern farmhouse with blacks and heavy inky colors like fusion pressed fern and the glassware you showed and macrame. It seems to also be pulling more cottage core so more English cottage with brass and natural wood tones and lots of greens (I can paint anything bayberry and it’s gone in a day). And less “chippy” paint overall. Basically more color too
For us in the central Texas "Joanna-sphere" which is agricultural to begin with, clean farm style is still good but the kitchy manufactured-to-look-like-Jo is passing fast. We're Boho and MCM in a big way with a new booth store in town dedicated pretty much to those styles (not the typical antiques mall)
Definitely seeing vintage oil paintings and other art sell. I think brass might be starting to wane where I am. I’ve personally slowed way down on purchasing more for my booth. Interesting fabric always seems to sell, whether it’s remnants or a few yards. Planters seem to be selling fairly well too. Still trying to figure out art pottery, and I wish there were more interest in unique mugs :)
It's hard when there's something you really love, but you can't seem to find the customers for it! I am that way with old rocking horses . . . I love them but can never sell them :(
Thanks for sharing! Again, some of this depends for sure on your area. For awhile, I couldn’t keep mirrors in stock. But for the past 6-8 months, they just sit and sit and sit…
Hi Melanie. In my area, Kansas, mid-century anything is hot - hard to find, but hot. Silver plate always takes awhile to sell, but does well at Christmas and other holidays, but at lower prices than before.
Pricing can be all over the map! I do try in general to mark up by items at least 3x’s (if I don’t think I can get that, then usually I will skip buying the item)
I’m selling a ton of vintage tin pieces. Bowls, plates and square containers. I am selling mirrors but they’re unique and colorful. Silver plate is still loving for me but I rarely have any. I’ve sold two pieces in the past couple months. Art printed on wood from the 70s is moving.
I'm in Washington state. We're in a Navy town and across the water from Seattle. The shop I'm in has a mix of people because of this. Alot of younger city tech people are moving here now. But we also have a ton of people from the south because they're here with the Navy. My booths have a lot of color. And mix of styles. I'm selling a ton of 1950's-1970's glasses and barware. I have been selling the animal figures well, cots, dogs, birds you name it. Boho has been big out here for awhile. I sell some, but its pretty heavily carried in other booths. I sell a lot of vintage books, fiction and non fiction. I lean in to good cover photos and anything about animals and birds. They sell so fast! I do a lot of "crafts" with vintage ad's and magazines and photos. I make greeting cards with vintage photos and fun quotes. They sell great! I also use the ad's and sheet music to decorate small notebook covers and they sell fast. Pretty much everything you said in the video is a go here except I do still sell small block signs well and mirrors. But the mirrors I sell are mostly mid century in wood or gold. :) facebook.com/daydreamdesignsbymachele
I disagree that mid century stuff is readily available at thrift stores. It’s disappearing fast, at least here in the northeast US. I can remember when you couldn’t give it away, no one wanted it. If I do find it now, prices are usually pretty high. One of my favorite finds is a book shelf unit, which I got off of someone’s curb on big trash day. Layers and layers of paint, looked like it had been used to store stuff in a garage or basement. Cleaned up really nice! I also scored a lot of mid century stuff, and antiques, when my ex remodeled old beach houses - people finally had the money to redo the house or cottage, and were planning on getting all new furniture, and would tell him to take what he wanted from generations of old mismatched “junk.” Every day he would come home with the back of his truck full of treasures!
I have a booth and am interested in trying themed vintage gift baskets. I might have one for a bride to be, a new mother, a cook, etc. Have any of you tried this and is there any interest among customers do you think ?
Hi Melanie. I've been thinking alot about this topic. It's so hard. I feel like there is a fine line between what is trending but then staying true to who you are and what you love. Opinions please... do you feel like large painted signs in general are going out? Also, how do you think painted furniture is doing?
Hey Jill! I totally understand the pull you are feeling. And I think it depends on the “why” behind your booth-is it a fun hobby or creative outlet for you? Or it is more of a business that you need to generate regular income? If it’s the former, you have more freedom to continue in your own personal style. But if it’s the latter, you have to consider the style wants of the customer. Also, you can help “educate” your customer on what you are selling! Many booth shoppers now are out looking for home decor, so they are patterning their visions after what they see online, in magazines, and on TV. Many shoppers need you-the seller-to do the creative work for them and show them HOW your beautiful items can be used as decor in their home! So you can stay true some to yourself own style as long as you do an excellent job with display and show your customers how to use your lovely finds in their own spaces. I hope that makes sense!
I am not selling wood signs in my booth either. I do well with heavy gold-framed mirrors and empty frames. I try to have 2 matching frames and stage them with something inside, like plates or wreaths. I look at other booths and see what is working for them. Children's table/chair sets always do well. Cut glass is a bust here. I finally brought all mine home to make room for better selling items. At one time the big round world globes were great, so I bought several, only to have a couple still sitting. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason to what customers want. Just enjoy what you're doing and think of it as cheap therapy!!
What about shabby chic? Just curious. I'm having a hard time finding my brand and making sells. Mirrors are not selling. What about chalkboards? I have sold a couple of large ones but not quickly.
I sold one large chalkboard in the past year, I don’t see them moving quite as fast. And I am seeing less and less shabby chic. Maybe try incorporating a few unpainted, natural wood pieces as well? See if it “grounds” your look some and adds some contrast to the more distressed look.

I love the shelf the decanters and glasses are displayed on! ❤
Yes I’ve noticed farm house has really slowed down!!

Thanks Linda! Glsd to hear your sales are still going well! Interesting to hear what is trending in different areas.

It is SO helpful to spend a work day every once in awhile to actually see what is walking out the door

I agree-the “farm” look is still there, but it’s more sophisticated and with color. And yes, green is HOT!
Would LOVE a new trending video!
That’s a great idea! It’s about time :) Thanks!
I have to agree. I think cutesy or cluttery farmhouse has been over done.
Vintage brass pieces sell quickly on my Etsy shop. Great video! 🌷
Thanks! It’s so funny with the brass, just a few years ago I couldn’t have given away a brass candlestick!

You are on point .., but the mirrors are hot I loved that mirror you showed actually
Thanks for sharing! Again, some of this depends for sure on your area. For awhile, I couldn’t keep mirrors in stock. But for the past 6-8 months, they just sit and sit and sit…
I live in texarkana and trends are slow to catchup on sales here.

Great point about the silverplate, it does usually pick up some around the holidays. Hopefully it does this year as well!
Very helpful. Thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Great info, thanks!
You’re welcome!
Could you make a video about starting from scratch and how to set up an empty booth
That may be a tough one to pull off… but I’ll see what other sort of display tips I can put together for you :)
BoHo - wicker and macrame seem to be popular right now! I have lots of animal figurines. I need to get them in my booth!
Yes! Price them and put them in, see what happens :)
What is the best way to find what is trending?
love trend videos! You seem to be spot on for my area too-SW Idaho. Would love to know what you price stuff at too.

I need to come down and see your new space!
The store is very much still under construction but the vendors that have moved in have some great looking booths. Don’t forget closed one saturdays 😫
I think that’s why I haven’t made it down yet… every time I think about it, it’s Saturday!

Hey Melanie 😊❣
Hey there Amber!
@@LostFoundDecor great content Melanie, thank you ❣
Awesome, you’re welcome!

Bye bye farmhouse!! Welcome fun fresh color!

I have not tried that, but I think it’s a great idea! I would test the waters out with a few, and make sure to promote them well on your social media!

Anyone have an opinion on wood signs?

Mid century stuff and boho or unusual quirky is selling for me in Claremore, OK inn2023-24.
What about shabby chic? Just curious. I'm having a hard time finding my brand and making sells. Mirrors are not selling. What about chalkboards? I have sold a couple of large ones but not quickly.

I totally agree that mirrors are not selling.
It’s weird, you would think they would be timeless? But I’m not seeing them much in decor anymore
You aren’t in Texas anymore.??
I’m not! We moved to Northwest Arkansas in May of 2019
I live in Florida and people are still Buying white furniture.
I do think white pieces probably will always have a buyer :)
Bye bye Mr...Chippy Furniture..lol.
