Yes! European Art déco! We just bought a 1930's art deco apartment in Brussels, and would loooove inspiration to decorate! (also maybe in that same video, introduce the difference with Art Nouveau, so many people mess these two up!)
I'm really going for a dark boho, kind of victorian vibe for our bedroom. I'd love to see something like that. Really dark, romantic, filled with moody florals and gold and brass
Sounds like my kinda thing, Dark and eclectic with more transitional feeling pieces than 'your average boho with cream macrame' but with lots of rich pieces in finishes like brass and velvet.
Hey I'm also looking into transforming my living room into a dark boho style il also film and put the video up on my DIY channel Nia SYMPHONY once it's done...I'm really loving the boho looks
I’m 60 and 40 years ago when we married we had no money so everything came from auctions or secondhand shops we bought various antique bamboo pieces for next to nothing I’ve added to it over years nice to know I’m still fashionable 😀😀
Of course, everything comes back. And now, with marketplace websites online you can reap the benefits of your investments and acquire new vintage/antique items
Most trends come back around eventually. Some decades come around more often than others. And some needs come up and make old trends more appealing (move into a small space = don't want visually heavy furniture = mid century modern couch is perfect) because we can look back and see "oh! They already did this, let's do it again!"
I spent my 20's in the late 1970's and Bohemian style was all the rage. I think you nailed it. More is more and the more eclectic the better. Plants, plants, plants! Wicker, wood and highly textured materials. Though I think of this style as funky Victorian, and dark/moody it seems the 21st century version is a lot airier, which is beautiful. Love your videos!
Please do something 80’s inspired. I feel like that style is coming back and I’m living for it! I also suggest Art Deco and space age design. I feel like they all compliment each other very well.
She actually did a California costal makeover about a year ago if you want some inspiration, and she recently featured a costal option in a fall decor video not too long ago.
Yes, please do Coastal, but cover all the options. Nautical Coastal, Florida Coastal and California Coastal. Personally, I like a very chic, not cheesy, toned-down coastal.
If I ever buy home decor on a whim, 9 times out of 10 it's coastal but I'm afraid that my home will start to look nautical, so I try not to lean too hard on coastal stuff haha! It's so hard! I swear I fear the day that I look around my room and realize I'm surrounded by navy stripes, life preservers and starfish 😂

I love Mid century modern, Scandinavian and a touch of industrial, I also love vintage accessories such as vases, mirrors, book shelves, picture frames etc.
This is my style! So glad you referenced what I think of as the "real" bohemian (I was styling my first home in the 70's) Can't believe all the cool finds in your haul! I think I might attempt the wall hanging!
I like that she is teaching people that this is the true Boho style and that Boho has so many branches and micro trends. I am bored of others repeating that Boho is only that neutral, anemic palette and styling you see on Instagram.
Just like to say how much I (and i'm sure everyone else would agree) appreciate the originality behind your work. The wall hanging for example, It would be so easy to become influenced by what other TH-camrs that have similar channels are doing and regurgitate, in the same way other's sometimes do. Doing your own research and finding something you like from one of your books and putting your own, totally fresh spin on it. Inspired and original as always.

I would love to see more of this kind of analyses or deductions - maybe of brand styles, or "professional" interior projects, or maybe just pictures of inspiring rooms. That would be amazing :D
The beauty of eclectic is just finding the right balance and having a good eye. Taking items that you find attractive and love and mixing them in your space in a way that works for you. I love all home decor but its definitely overwhelming sometimes to try and make it all come together. My advice is to buy the things you absolutely will regret not buying and then work them into your space. As long as you love it and its functional for you that's really all that matters. Bonus if others see it all together and find it pretty too. Plus like she said in her last video find a common ground to make it cohesive.

Hey MaCenna! Loved this video on boho/eclectic decor. Thrifting is my superpower and I have decorated almost my entire home with thrifted and hand-me-down vintage family pieces. You made me want to go thrifting asap to add to my growing collection of artfully decorated clutter. lol My daughter and I totally made a wall decor piece like you last one. We used salt dough (thrifty thrifty) and found that straws worked really well as hole punches in case you wanted to forgo the expensive clay. She wanted stars and we just used jute twine to tie them at alternating lengths on a nice-sized stick we found in the park. Thanks for brightening up my Sunday's and inspiring me to keep crafting!
Wow! It’s pretty awesome that in the photo on the right of the thumbnail most of that is all thrifted!😊 you inspire me so much to go thrifting even if I don’t have the space!🤣🤣 You should do traditional style next!
I thought I was neutral to bohemian style, but turns out its actually my favourite?? Great video, thanks for helping me figure out what bohemian actually is MaCenna! :)
That water color is beautiful! I'm all about having at work that is yours... Even if that means you find art you love at the store. But even better is things you and your family make.
That sounds beautiful to me. My house was built in 1920, and I would love to get a visual picture in my mind of how it may have originally looked. And then attempt to bring some of those elements back if possible.
Very pretty decor. Nice job. Lovely water coloring, too .. Can you do a beach cottage decor for your next vid...and an English cottage? They'd be great to see. Ty for sharing. Be well.
I just wanted to clarify something, what you refer to as Moroccan is actually north African. I see a lot of pattern of the North African traditional carpet included in the modern rugs that you use in your decor ( not just you macenna but a lot of other home decor TH-camrs ) and they never mention that it's actually from the " Amazigh culture of north Africa ", its most certainly not Arab or Persian. I truly hope you would mention this in one of your upcoming videos. but overall I am a huge fan and I love all your work. much love from Algeria
@@Ldawg42069 Yes but Ibtissam Benkhrif is just asking people to be accurate when referring to the origins of a pattern or style. He has pointed out that people often label a pattern "Moroccan" when that pattern is actually from e.g. Algeria, not Morocco, or the pattern might represent the culture of many countries in North Africa, not just Morocco. He also points out that carpets with a pattern from North Africa are sometimes wrongly described as "Arab" or "Persian". It does no harm to do some research to ensure accuracy and that credit is given where it is due.
McKenna! I LOVE everything you post. One thing I wanted to say was that on the basket with the handle, you can almost always remove the handles without damaging the basket! Thanks for all your amazing videos I'm always so inspired after watching 🧡
Eclectic is not really a style, but a part of many other styles and one descriptor of such styles, like Boho. Eclectic just means a mix of different styles. You can be Boho eclectic, Traditional eclectic, Country eclectic and so on.
Watching this again today because I just love your style so much ! You really do stand out from all the other TH-camrs decor. I feel like yours is more original and you inspire me !
I love your channel, and the fact I can watch it with my twin seven year old girls without worrying about inappropriate material. They love all your diy stuff and say you’re super talented (and I agree ❤️). I’ve gotten so many great tips from you!
I’m definitely bohemian with a mix of mid century modern. My husband and I love to travel around the world and bring goods that are unique. Super colorful and beautiful! Currently working on my accent wall and need to make a painting but it should be done soon.
I definitely lean toward this eclectic classic boho style but lately I've been obsessing over art deco and glamorous old hollywood! I'd LOVE to see a guide on those! I love your videos!!!
Love it! I've been trying to pin down my interior design style for some time now, as I loved aspects of different styles but nothing as a whole. My concept of bohemian was very 'whites/pastels and macramé' which, don't get me wrong is lovely - but not for me. I love moody colours, unique pieces from thrift shops and antique stores, and lots of meaningful trinkets and visual memories of my travels. I can't believe it took me so long to realise that bohemian had so much more variety and was exactly my style!
I would throw a couple of silk scarves especially with tassels over those tall lampshades ...looks fabulous and gives colourful light as well I love doing it ..easy to swap out
I love this series you’re doing and just how detailed you’ve researched and how wonderfully you describe every style! Bohemian isn’t really my thing, I’m more of an industrial girl, but I could listen to you talk about it all day long 😂❤️
Next style guide idea: Parisian apartment!! I'm new here so it may have been done before. I definitely naturally gravitate toward a bohemian style so it was nice to know what to keep an eye out for to tie everything together
Would love to see a Cottagecore inspired video. I’m not sure if this is considered a typical style, but I’ve been loving that aesthetic! Love your videos 😊
This is my ideal home decor style !!!! I currently have jewel tones curtains, a mauve accent wall, a crazy patterned Turkish rug, lots and lots of gold accents, baskets, and plants
Hey Macenna! I love your channel! I have been following you the beginning of the year since I have moved into my new home! Your creativity is phenomenal, and your tips are beyond insightful! I would love to see how you can merge modern bohemian with touches of Old style 70s Hollywood. Keep up the fantastic work xx
I absolutely love your channel! Your style is amazing. Like you seriously should think about being an interior designer on a tv show or something. Amazing and I absolutely love you!
Bohemian is such an interesting style. The "real bohemian" looks like where it came from: Roma caravans. Think: you're nomadic, you have everything you need in a small space (think RV in modern times) and you have to balance "showing off your wealth" with "you can't afford to get everything custom made all at once so it matches". You got family heirlooms, things you acquired in your travels, things you replaced when they broke. And LOTS of blankets and pillows because you don't have the space to store extra cots and chairs for when you're stationary and want to sprawl out. And your culture is very bright and vibrant, which makes itself obvious in the textiles you wear. It's easy to see the connection.

McKenna! I LOVE everything you post. One thing I wanted to say was that on the basket with the handle, you can almost always remove the handles without damaging the basket! Thanks for all your amazing videos I'm always so inspired after watching 🧡
There used to be a style called eclectic, do they still do that or call it something different now. I’d love to see how to do that.
If your dreams don't scare you, they are too small.

ugh
Definitely still waiting for a modern farmhouse vid, but also would love to see a traditional style one!
Art deco & glam
This is my favorite series. I would love to see modern farmhouse, glam, and eclectic
I would like to see an episode of traditional farmhouse vs modern farmhouse. I love your bohemian diys. They always make me want to learn macrame. 🤗🤗
I would LOVE to see Art Deco/ modern Parisian styles!!!!
I'm absolutely in LOVE with that star candle holder! 😍😍😍😍
I love coastal bohemian. Great combination.
Art Deco would be great.
It's so nice to see Bohemian Style identified beyond the Apartment Therapy California Mid-Mod look.
Yeah Boho is so much more. That is only a fraction of the many sides of boho.
I have really been loving your channel! I would like to see modern farmhouse with a coastal vibe.
Absolutely loved this, thank you so much for sharing! I am obsessed with minimal boho decor and live in a jungle of plants 😂🌿
Would love to see a Cottagecore inspired video. I’m not sure if this is considered a typical style, but I’ve been loving that aesthetic! Love your videos 😊
The star candle holder is so beautiful 😍
This is my ideal home decor style !!!! I currently have jewel tones curtains, a mauve accent wall, a crazy patterned Turkish rug, lots and lots of gold accents, baskets, and plants
Hey Macenna! I love your channel! I have been following you the beginning of the year since I have moved into my new home! Your creativity is phenomenal, and your tips are beyond insightful!
I would love to see how you can merge modern bohemian with touches of Old style 70s Hollywood.
Keep up the fantastic work xx
I considered my style industrial farm house but I defiantly have a bohemian flare, tons of plants, treasures from travels, and natural elements.
Yes, you got it!
Eclectic and Dark Academia!
I’d love to see modern farmhouse with a boho chic twist.
