No matter what you say about them, they were the most energetic and entertaining pair. Showmans that knew how to get the crowd behind them
Back in their prime, you had to watch their matches. Everyone played all out when facing Minions. They were expected to win every tournament, which was crazy.
Their "abstract defense" and speed play is so legendary it changes the overall strategy of men doubles. Now its so tough to watch them fall appart because they unable to play against their own style of play, injuries, and pressures

So this is the pair that Indonesians take pride in. Even though they have shown disrespect to their opponents, Indonesians continue to back them up, but what have they truly achieved? Olympic or world champion titles? Not quite. Ahsan/Setiawan are considered superior and much preferable to this arrogant pair. Talent can help you reach the top, but it's your character that keeps you there.
Both Lee Chong Wei and Peter Gade never won Olympic nor World Championship. So, you are saying their multiple BWF titles mean nothing?
@@leoem4nuel You're missing my point there buddy. Peter Gade and LCW were always respectful towards their opponents during their prime. Despite not winning Olympic and World Championship titles, they earned widespread respect and admiration worldwide. In 10 years, people will still remember LCW, LD, Gade, THidayat, Setiawan-Ahsan, Lee Yong Dae, Fu Haifeng. But not Sukamuljo. To this date, no badminton player has shown thumb down to their opponent after winning the match, except Sukamuljo. I don't care about psycho war during the match but after match? Come on man.
Kevin show thumb down to Denmark player because his body touch the shuttle but didn't admitted to the refferee
@@randyprananta7063 Sukamuljo doesn't need to resort to such action, as there's no reason for him to do so. Furthermore, he expressed his disapproval of his opponent AFTER the match. I watched the match. Even if the Danish player engaged in unsportsmanlike behavior, Sukamuljo should demonstrate maturity, especially AFTER the match. That's what true champion is.
Well, his downfall serves as evidence of his character. Hopefully, he will come back a better player. Best wishes to him.

They have been the fastest in terms of gameplay. As of current, there no mens doubles that are able to play that fast and in pro-longed period. Seo/Kang do play similar but not as fast as gideon and kevin.

I miss the Minions...They were very fun to watch! The men's doubles pairs nowadays are playing the normal lifts, defend and smashes, nothing extraordinary...Boring to watch...Fast intercepts are exciting!

In my opinion the best of all time but unfortunately ego brought them down. Koo Kien Keat was also probably one of the highest potential players of all time if he had been hard working in training and diet, and not try to showboat all the time. Play hard and these 2 would have been better than even Cai/Fu or Lee YD/Jung JS. Is Sanjaya worthy of legend status, if u ask me, no. Who is then? I'd say Kim Dong Moon and Hendra Setiawan.
Comparing Kevin to Hendra/Kim is like comparing Harden to LeBron. It's comparing a great of his era to an all-time great. He's still a legend nevertheless

MD sector at minion prime wasnt lot of pairs like now whom non seed best 10 could same level play against seed even win, MD sector now had been grown a lot with various startegic play, power, speed, agility, but consistencies is hard one I think 🎉

im not sure anyone notice of this.. i think is they start the fast attacking play style first.. then only many country learn on that part and start to play that style..before minions, all stil playing traditional attack n defence style
they didn't start anything first. they came in when MD defense was at its lowest. notice their dominance coincided shortly after JJS retirement. if JJS had stayed with LYD, minions would have been forever silver

What do you mean? They were ranked 1st in the world for almost 5 years. Even though they have never won a world championship or an Olympics, it's still an extraordinary thing when they could maintain their world ranking for that long.
