They did that because his license ran out, it was for 3 years 1987-1990 so they rereleased this version without him and renamed the final boss Mr Dream "The Dream Fight"
Don's second refill is always 56 HP if you have full health. If you dont have full health it becomes random and 1/8 of the time he will get up with only 40 HP
It's kinda weird but maybe reasonable to see that most of the fights can be beaten a few seconds faster than on NTSC, but how the heck can you beat Great Tiger in 25 seconds and Sandman in 1 minute and 29 seconds?
Im assuming when they made the game it was originially for NTSC, then ported over for PAL regions. Scaling down from 60fps to 50fps caused somethings in the way of opponents guard to function weirdly. There is some frame perfect shenanigans you can do to land punches on Tiger and Sandman where you normally wouldnt be able to on NTSC
switching the emulator setting from PAL/NTSC just changes how fast the game runs (Basically, it just switches between 50fps and 60fps), you still need the correct version of the game to play that version. Edit: To clarify, If I played the NTSC version of the game with the emulator set on PAL mode, the game would functionally still play like the NTSC version of the game, just 1/6th slower. Likewise, if I played the PAL version of the game, but the emulator set to NTSC Mode, then all the tricks and stuff that could be executed only on the PAL version would still be doable, but the game would be playing 1/5th faster. There is a ROMHack called "Phreds Cool Punch-Out 2 Turbo", which utilizes this. The game appears to play faster, but its actually functionally just a PAL version ROM forced to play at NTSC speed. ie, it is meant to be played on an NTSC mode emulator or NTSC console.
How did you beat glass Joe before 42:00 could you have saved some time instead of you that face punch to ko Joe by using a gut punch? And did you also get a 9 second first knockdown on don flamenco 1 because the game is running on 50 fps instead of 60? Is that basically why all of the fights are faster? Sorry to bother you but I have another question but how did you land those face punches on great tiger without him blocking and jabbing?
All of your questions are answered with simply because "PAL is built different" lol Joe needs a face punch because i store a rapid punch... and rapid punches are faster than gut punches.
havent you gotten a 13.82 on flamenco 1 before? does the mr dream version change that? possible since pal mr dream does have differences like stunned uppercuts on macho
umm, i might have messed the TAS up lol. But there is also MTPO PAL which is slightly different again (MTPO PAL =/= PO PAL) So while 13.82 does ring a bell, i cant remember which version of the fight its from. As for why its a "Mr Dream thing" well im not sure. They did some weird conversions so the game could play on the PAL version and whatever conversion they did for MTPO was different when they released PO 3 years later.
17:56 ohh noo, they pulled a Disney race swap on poor Mike. Wasn't expecting that lol..

It's been 6 years, yet no one has pointed out that TH-cam thought this was Super Punch-Out!!
lol, good one youtube. I think i can manually fix
@@Papamanual Didnt expect you to actually reply, lol
punch out (slowed + reverbed)
first off don flamenco has a small peener. second, during the second flamenco fight; why the health bleed before the round starts? different pattern?

Thank you @@Papamanual
Speed it up to 1.25 and it's literally Phred's Cool Punch-Out!! 2 Turbo gameplay, without the pattern and texture changes.

couldnt you switch the region in the settings or is the emu being on NTSC important?

what makes punch out specifically faster than MTPO on PAL.
Indeed
Nice! What are the times in this run? Also, I found an improvement on Bull 1 and another on Sandman. I'll post a video at some point.

also if it is the mr dream thing, can you tell me why it matters for don?

those europeans have it rough
it's odd hearing the Pal version of the music and sfx. It's the same, but somehow different?
PAL soundtrack sounds "sadder", less upbeat lol
I know this is an old video but may I have the.fm2 file please?
I had a look, and I think ive deleted it, sorry
Excluding Disco Kid, Bear Hugger, and Aran Ryan
hope this is ironic, but those 3 fights are in super punch out (I think), not mike tyson’s punch out. this is a different game
