    Bought two of them recently, I've tried one out, ten out of ten. No lag, controls are spot on, connected wirelessly to the N64 first time. Highly recommend this controller, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Coming from an Ocarina of Time speedrunner, I highly recommend this controller if you cannot find a way to get a new bowl, gears or just an entire steel stick like module. This controller's analog stick just feels amazing and has almost identical feeling when it comes to ESS positioning that I had a hard time telling the difference between the 2. This also makes Nintendo Switch Online N64 FEEL EXACTLY like you're playing on an N64 with the same kind of ESS positioning that I'd rather have this and not even worry about replacing my module (still will just to preserve my original controllers).

    This looks almost perfect but I wish everyone would just copy the Dreamcast stick and trigger layout (the trigger is actually underneath the Analog Stick, which is most natural if you look at your hand in its natural resting position).

  • @AgentXRifle

    Ordered an ultra version of the wireless tribute and brawler. Will be fun to compare them!
    Currently have 4 brawler64 corded controllers and really like them, gave 2 to my mom and decided wireless would be nice to have. We will see which is better!!

  • @DisneyTLK110
    @DisneyTLK110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What I'd like to know is how large the deadzones are in the up-down-left-right-directions. In pretty much every third-party alternative, while running straight ahead and wanting to make a slight turn, you'd need to push the stick quite far towards either side for the movement to take effect.
    This means there's a deadzone active in all "+"directions, probably to remove wrong inputs, but it has a negative effect on 3d-movement in my opinion.
    How does this stick stack up? The original Tribute64 has rather large deadzones in these areas.

    I love these tribute controllers. I bought it for the rumble, but the analog stick is awesome for holding lines in Rush 2 & 2049. I did not have nearly the luck you did with the stick on the brawler wireless. I keep having to tap it to correct for its imprecision.

      @@Ed-yj1ux The rumble has a personality that is rather distinct from the old rumble pak, but it still has a nice feel and strength. The tribute is still my choice for n64, though like other retro-bits, it has an annoying habit of draining the battery when not in use.

  • @zartiz
    @zartiz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That was an awesome review, I can't remember what was my reasoning for picking up this controller. When I got it, It literally sat in it's box for months. One day I decided to finally try it out and see how it would compare to the wireless brawler 64s I already owned. I can't remember why, but I was immediately turned off by the feel of it. It felt way too cramped for me, and I gotta say I have small hands. So, back in the box it went. I kept passively looking for better n64 controllers, as the brawler 64 didn't quite cut it, they're pretty good, but something was still off. I guess I was looking into investing into a Hori Pad Mini. And that reminded me of the controller again, so I was like, I'll give it another try and see what happens. I don't know what the hell changed, but this time It blew my mind, It took me a minute to realize how easy I was aiming at stuff while playing Ocarina of time. And I was like WTF, is this the same controller I put back in the box, because I didn't like it. OMG, how could I've been so wrong. I decided to buy another one, and that's when reality hit, they're freakin sold out everywhere, there is a few on ebay that are going for insane prices right now. So yeah, I guess the cat is out of the bag, this is hands down the best third party wireless n64 controller ever made, good luck finding one for a decent price. Although, the next best thing I found is that Castlemania games has a pre order for a clear red one, which I have no idea when it's coming out, all it says it's fall. Nevertheless I did make a pre order LOL, I can wait.

  • @teddym2808
    @teddym2808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The tribute wireless works fine, EXCEPT, in X input mode, the shoulder buttons are seen as different buttons and you can't multi assign in my favourite N64 emulator. I will only ever use this for N64 emulation, so of course I want both left and right triggers to be able to trigger the Z button, so I can press the one that is most convenient as needed. In retroarch I can assign buttons to the same function but I have no desire to use RA for N64 when M64+ gui works perfectly (and uses parallel). I'll try the controller back in d input mode as shipped, and see if, unlike the admiral, the d pad allows diagonal inputs. It's fine in X input mode but I really want those Z buttons mirrored. Sigh, I can't win LOL. Maybe I'll try my wired usb N64 Tribute.
    The other thing is, the Admiral's analog stick is WAY better (when it worked properly), as the tribute has NO friction. It's way too easy to overshoot and even a newborn baby could move the stick, it is that light. The one in the Admiral feels meaty. Honestly, if I could do diagonals in the d pad and the stick wasn't drifting, I'd use the Admiral.

    Good to know to avoid the Admiral! I was tempted by it, but I had been burned by too many bad Hyperkin products. Looks like the D-pad is a bit smaller than the RetroFighters, it seems that could be a bit inaccurate sometimes. It's nice that it is consistent in its analog range, unfortunate no 3rd party controller matches the original N64 range.
    I am tempted by this now instead! If it had more of an original N64 joystick gate and was shaped more like a modern controller (PS5/Series X/Switch Pro), I would buy it right away. For now I am happy with the controllers I currently have.

      Nothing goes up to full 4K yet that is worth spending time with. Best low cost option is the RetroTink 2x mini with svideo cables.
