Yea that’s so true, when I was making film I was like I’m gonna have to slow this Down so I can see it… I know if I’m doing that viewers need it as well:) love the feedback
Disc golfing seems so straightforward and simple until you start playing a lot and wanting to get better. Then it's like a good 6 months of starting over again
Ive only been playing "seriously" for like a year still can barely get to 300 without a hard hyzer flip. I always tell new people to put the disc in between their index and middle finger, its helped me keep my release flat
Thanks for the tip. I feel the same way on my reach back I may be angling my reach back downward and then having to correct in rotation to release. Solid tip to think about a level plane from reach back/ load to rotation and release being on the same plane at least but optimally horizontal plane or level with the horizon
Very welcome, I struggled with this for a long time, I wasn’t throwing super nose up but just enough for mess with me, lol thought I would share some things that make me more consistent, :)
=) It's spelled "Plane". p.s. I've always told beginners to line the disc up with that line on your palm closest to your thumb and to keep the disc in line with the forearm bones, which is pretty much exactly what you're doing now. I always wondered why some instructors didn't mention that immediately to new guys. They talk about the grip but not how the disc lines up with your arm so much. And yeah, keep the disc on the plane of the shot is bang on. That's very important.
lol I just went back and watched it and realized “plain” lol 🤦♂️ I’ve never seen it that way but that’s a great explanation for it. I’m gonna I’m use it if I ever take a new player out
Appreciate the feedback so much, glad you can relate, and your enjoying the content. I enjoy making videos but if no one can relate and no one enjoys them it’s not near as fun, lol seriously tho thanks 🙏
i thnk one of the issues i've had is nose angle due to my small ass hands. I'm 5'11" and change, but i have very short fingers. In order to get all 4 fingers underneath the rim, i have to have the disc more perpendicular with my hand. If i switch to letting my pinky off, then the disc can sit more comfortably on the meat of my thumb. Powergrip for smaller hands seems to be asking for trouble.. at least in consistency for me because i mentally have to really make sure i turn my wrist down. Dropping the pinky off and it is pretty naturally nosedown ...
Those were some good throws, I’m on the quest to 500ft….it’s gonna be a challenge. I wanna do a video about it…. We will see! I’m definitely throwing further now than I’ve ever have. It’s a good feeling but I need to hone in on accuracy, lol
I feel like I’m a few months behind you on form / practice. I’m just within the last week clearing 400 ft without downhill/tailwind assistance consistently
Nice dude. I need to do field work. I am stuck at 300-350. Sometimes I get a odd rip out to 400 but I don't know what I did to achieve it. A tailwind and hitting it just right. I need to work on my game though.
It took me so long to pin point the stuff I was doing wrong and make adjustments, I still have those moments but as I practice I understand my body and can more so feel what’s happing. There are so many little things that make a difference.
Keep working at it. I gave up playing after 9 months because I was gaining no distance and was only able to get 200 feet on good throws. Came back to it about a month ago. Pretty consistently getting like 210 to 220 with the occasional 230 to 240.
@@brianc1651 good for you not to give up entirely, there was several times a actually told myself I’M DONE with this sport and I’m selling all my stuff, I struggled so much on getting passed 325-350 for so long but now it isn’t a problem. Stick with it. Glad to hear your back out playing
I tell you it's a process. I started about 150 last summer. Slowly got more and more each month. Backhand is still my weakness. Seems I should be able to get more than forehand but still have a hard time breaking 300.
@@joem8496 I was the same was, was forehand dominant and sucked at backhand, started watching film and trying to get batter with lots of practice and it took along time but things here lately have started coming together.
thanks just bought my first set of discs today and needed to watch this, gonna practice again tomorrow and see how it compared to how I did today. I know your third tip was something a friendly disc golfer told me while passing me by
Hey Danger Mouse... I mean DM... 6:00 actually, isn't that Nose UP?.... The pause position has your hand facing back, nose high to the rear... but a frame or 2 after the unpause shows you rotate past, dropping the nose.. but releasing sort of upward again... Have you tried launching a batch of straight stable shots no higher than shoulder height for total trajectory... I found that helped me stop launching "Sky Hyzers" with disks that should have travelled straight (Remembering of course, I'm mediocre... not a pro here... I shoot for par and 100m repeatable max. Course I use a LOT of shots that no Utube channel EVER mention.... (as I generally use 10-11 discs and shape/Hyzer/Anhyzer them to fill the gaps. Latest being neck high back shoulder looking at the target and aiming at the spot (base of the basket etc) for 100 ft upshots... I can grab almost any disk (except my most under stables) and it turns out flat as it hits the ground... best choosing rubbery mids and they stop dead at the bullseye... but again no one ever would say do that... course I use the same shot, slightly higher and only with enough power to fade just beyond... and get the odd beautiful 100ft flex S into the basket.... If only I could do it consistently. I'd still love to c you grab a scorch and try my 'frisbee' throw... facing the target, front ft at about 40-45deg, and straight arm from below/behind the left hip across and yeet away up about 40deg Hyzer out to the right without taking your eye off the target... making the arc dead smooth. (I use my scorch as on a Hyzer it tends to travel without lifting/dropping unless in a crosswind. I does tend to skip on at landing but it doesn't matter when I just near bullseyed someone's bag at 200ft with what looked like a YEET EDIT... AHHHH I HATE U-TUBBIE... It recommended a video I have already watched fully 4 months ago (and I thought it said minutes... sigh... thought it looked familiar. I'll go back to sleep now... sigh
When he’s bringing the disc from the vertical position to horizontal position, or “turning the key”, that’s supination. If your hands turn to make a soup bowl, it’s supination.
@@SonnyJ3t He’s saying he’s coming from pronated position into supinated one and that this works for him. It was just odd how says, “if I supinate” , and then he pronates and says this is his natural style that works for him. Lots of players do this. It might actually add snap. I want experiment now that I think of it. His release is flat or supinated so that’s what’s important.
And then you realize the nose of the disc isn’t the front of the disc when you put your hand out like that :-P it’s about 9 o’ clock when you extend your arm 😅
Great video! Thanks for the slo-mo, a lot of TH-camrs don’t use that and it’s very hard to see the form without it

What discs are you pumping out to 450?
Cloud breakers, DD3’s
How do you hold the disc like that without being very strained? Maybe I am stiff, but for me it just ends up with the disc going even more hyzer.
It took some time to get used to it, at first it was uncomfortable turning my wrist down like that
